    In CS people counter strafe because your character still moves a bit even after you let go of your movement key to stop yourself dead in your tracks. In valorant, when you let your movement key go, you slow down much quicker than in CS to the point where if you’re not moving at full speed then you’ll pretty much completely stop after letting go of your movement key.

    • @hugobot20
      @hugobot20 Місяць тому +7

      Even if you are moving at full speed, it makes barely any difference, i think it's about 10 or 20 ms when they tested it, so there's not really any reason to do it unless it's just a habit. Imo it's a bad habit as well cause if you press the counter strafe for just a frame too long you're moving again and innacurate

    • @Assassunn
      @Assassunn Місяць тому

      @@hugobot20 no, if you counterstrafe you're pressing both keys at the same time, and you have to let the first one to move (A then add D to stop, then let A to go), but even if you don't it then becomes what is called deadzoning, you have a frame where you move back and still can shot one bullet with accuracy (or two for weapons with a firerate above 10). I need a prove that this is only 16ms in a wide peek/swing/full momentum, because I can clearly feel this is way slower

    • @hugobot20
      @hugobot20 Місяць тому +7

      @@Assassunn objectively, what you're saying that is not counter strafing. If you go into Cs right now and try to press both A and D at the same time you will see that it doesn't make any difference to stop time, you HAVE to let go of A before pressing D or visa versa, or it doesn't make you stop any quicker. I believe the tests do the same thing. And I don't know because I havent seen tests on this, but in valorant it doesn't feel like pressing both is any different from just letting go altogether, which would make sense because it doesn't make you move in the opposite direction either

    This style is good for people with good first bullet accuracy, you play into that strength more by stopping and trying to line up the shot as fast as you can, having fast and smooth micro adjustments is crucial to do this. If you aim train or practice micro adjustments/smoothness in your aim you should consider this aim style. Anyone who can’t should resort to game sense and learn how you should peak and manipulate how they aim with movement. For example, if you jiggle peek close to a wall their crosshair will be holding close to the wall so you can just poppin swing after that and get easy kills. And if they’re the type to op and hold playing off of reaction time, chances are you can just wide swing and they’ll shoot too late and miss. Another example is if they’re the type to aim like fishy chair always holding wide then you can peek close and one tap them since more often than not they’re standing still for the one tap they thought they had. You just have to have good timing to know when to peek to throw off their timing and pay attention to how they hit shots. Imo I think the best time to peek is when there’s a flash, a kill in the kill feed, or possibly footsteps near them, any little distraction can throw off their focus and is the perfect time to peek since they’re distracted, even if it’s for a brief moment.

      Counterstrafing > not counterstrafing. In EVERY situation. The only difference is that with counterstrafing you get first shot accuracy quicker. The problem with this is that its almost useless in this game compared to csgo. Tenz is one of the fastest aimers in the game, yet even he doesnt benefit from getting that first bullet accuracy quicker in most situations. If it doesnt make a difference for tenz, then its not going to make a difference for 99.99% of this games players.
      Not counterstrafing is almost entirely unnoticably better for players that take their time to aim, which is the opposite of what you said.

To me, the moment I counter strafe it’s the moment I know with 100% certainty I can shoot with first bullet accuracy, it allows me to be faster actually. It also allows me to flick to people when I’m running, I can counterstrafe immediately and lineup my shot immediately.

    Coming from CSGO I was automatically counter strafing in Valorant the whole time it felt off like I was still kinda inaccurate while counter strafing I then found this out that all you have to do is let go of the key my gameplay absolutely changed everything felt more slow like I had more time to shoot.

    • @luisguimaraes294
      @luisguimaraes294 9 місяців тому +1

      In CSGO all I did was let god of WASD while pressing Shift to shot. In Valorant it gave me a lot of whiff and I couldn't get why. It turns out I was used to shoot before stoping, and in CSGO, that makes the first bullet miss, but as soon as you stop it starts hitting again. You can even side-step mid spray and it'll whiff a couple bullets, but then start hitting again when you stop moving. That's because in CSGO it's 3 separate components: recoil (shooting shifts the cone of bullets away from the crosshair, with fixed seeds that create patterns) + shooting spread (shooting lowers accuracy, increasing the cone of bullets around) + movement spread (moving further increases the cone). When you stop moving, the 3rd one goes to zero. In Valorant, one moving shot and your entire recoil and spread goes mad, and then you need half a second for it to reset. So if you shot the first bullet while still moving, you'll miss not just that first bullet, but the entire burst or spray. Hence, I went back from Shift-to-stop to counter-strafing in Valorant (used to do it in back in 1.6). Tenz got his timing really trained, and shots exactly as he stops. So it seems counter-strafing is unnecessary, and more like just forces me into good practice with the input sequence. I'd press Shift and M1 at the same time, but A/D and M1 in sequence.

      Counter-strafing is basically a method in CS:GO when you press d or a, you press the opposite key and it instantly stops, but it is basically useless in valorant cause the speed is practically the same as when you counter strafe. In csgo, I think it's like a 45% increase on decrease speed or sum, if my math is right.

      @@4xmo I watched it before couple of times and it's not a great video, there is absolutely no prove in his videos and the irony is that the only moment he does a wide strafe (with full momentum) is when he is showing what counterstrafe is. I love woohoojin but don't listen to him about mechanics. Absolutely every radiant players recommend counterstrafing, I've been asking many of them in twitch and discord. The difference in a wide swing is 60 ms, which is gigantic and let you easily measure it visually with markers and feel the difference. Also, jiggling (deadzoning) is a specific different skill that doesn't work when you swing or when you don't do onetap only (or 2 taps with weapons above 10b/s firerate) strafe in a gunfight

      Two completely different subjects. What this video promotes is not moving at all when in duels. Which goes against the common wisdom of starfing while aiming and repositioning with strafe for the adjustment and next burst. This just seems to be a feel thing for TenZ - so hard to argue for or against if this is a correct thing - but I'm skeptical in general - you really need to master movement in duels first, to try this out more.
      What you are talking about is the fact that "counter strafing" as a mechanic is not particularily useful in Valorant, and is not needed at all - as you can strafe, let go of key, shoot, strafe again, and it works fine (inputs for example D, let go of D, M1, D). In CS you'd need to do a "counter strafe" which means you need to input D, tap A (called the counter strafe, which make you stop instantly, instead of gliding), M! to shoot, D.

      @@CorrosiveCitrus Yes people use very lazy terminology around this subject and conflate different things under the same word. I think the confusion comes with using CS terminology to describe Valo. So this video just talks about strafing in general. Counter strafing is not useful in Valorant. Dead zoning is th regular move-shoot-move pattern, which people usually refer to as counterstrafing, although that is not accurate (but ofcourse by definition you do do a counter strafe if you dead zone by A-M1-D. But on the other hand you dont counter strafe when you do A-M1-A,m which is possible in Valo and not in CS, where oyu would need a A-D-M1-A).

At the end of the day ACTUAL counter strafing along with crosshair placement is the hardest concept to master. Most of you only have a rudimentary understanding of crosshair placement. So this means that you should try and aim better, before trying to counterstrafe and even then, the process will take a few months to take on if you are new to shooter games.
