Im a retired NHS nurse and it may need more money because of the increase in population but thats the only reason. The truth is it desperately needs reorganisation theres so much waste. Pfi and procurement two things that spring to mind straight away. More money has never improved efficiency theres no accountability. Believe me after training in the military in the 80s then joining the NHS you could see the poor management then. Its now 1000 times worse. 520 million from the farmers will only cover the NHS for 26hours thst wont save it....

so what happens if the farmers cant afford this tax, and an international corp. buys up the land, the land is never passed on through inheritance, and the corps just have a revolving door of ceo's over the years that wiill just employ managers and people to work on those farms, where is their nhs funding coming from then if the inheritance tax plan fails?

I've also been left wondering (no political pun intended) about the farmers protest on Tuesday and all those tractors chugging up and down the streets of Westminster, trying to run over the police etc. Did they all pay the congestion charge or is that something else the 'bucolic ruralites' are exempt from paying among their other extensive subsidised existence. Another observation involves farming diesel and its exemption from fuel duty and the like for agricultural/farming use. Tooling up down the roads around parliament does not constitute farming use by any stretch of farmer Giles's imagination. It beggars belief that these upstanding stalwarts of UK society would try to rip off the national purse of duty and access charges in order to further feather their not insubstantial nests. One wonders when the treasury will receive the monies for inappropriate use of fuel etc. I would advise people in the Whitehall payments section not to hold their breath.
