Talent wise, Leach's players at Mississippi State are significantly more talented than the players he had at Texas Tech or Washington State. However, in my opinion, his players at Tech and WSU were tougher and played with much more heart. Given their talent, Leach got WAY MORE out of his players at Tech and WSU than he does at Mississippi State. Not sure if the it's due to a generational thing or what, but that's my opinion. Or maybe it's because back then, coaches could yell at and punish their players much more than they can today, which helped to instill motivation, determination, and fortitude. Today, if a coach yells or criticize a player too much, they'll complain to the athletic director that the coach is creating a "Hostile environment", and the first chance he gets, the player will hit the transfer portal.
I’m a State fan but Rodgers is an average QB who’s not confident is ability to complete passes down field. His feet work is terrible and he’s one dimensional (can’t run). The slightest touch from a defensive lineman or even bumped, he voluntarily falls down. He will only take chances down field when their back is against the wall and even then it’s like pulling teeth for him to do it.
What are you even talking about? You do know defenses defend the deep pass when they play us, that's the reason the have at least 7 in coverage, we only have 4 receivers out on routes, and a back in the flat. The underneath/crossing routes are what's going to be open, forcing throws into coverage isn't what he's supposed to do. 2 of his of our longest plays last night weren't down field throws, tulu had a 57 yd reception and the long one from RaRa.. if you look at those replays and see how many people were playing deep, you will see why he didn't throw many deep passes.
hes not one of the best in leach's system. bj symons, connor holliday, anthony gordon, gardner minshew, graham harrell, a few others were much better. Rogers is like cody hodges 2006 at tech...he's just mediocre.
