I don't understand why everyone thinks older women have to have short hair. I'm 67 and had waist length hair until cancer took it all. Now it's short for time being. But I will be growing it long again
I agree with you. I am 70 & my hair is below my waist. I get compliments over the beautiful white color all the time.
I am 74 and mine is a little past my shoulders. I feel I have more style options if it's a little longer.

I'm in remission now thanks to amazing Dr's. But it was huge shock shaving all my hair off after it being long for over 40yrs. Lucky it will grow long and again and I will stay in remission

I felt so bad for the woman. She looked much better with her longer hair. All the Stylist had to do was trim a little. I kept thinking when is she going to stop she kept cutting and cutting. Older women wants to look and feel like a beautiful Lady not an old man

Yep. It was a gma haircut. But, it was more styled and more neat looking. Probably won't look like that again unless another hair stylislt does it. And not knocking the woman, it's just hard to get the exact look again after leaving a salon.
Plus, when she decided to go even shorter, that made it worse. Argh! 🤦♀️ When some hair dressers hear cut it shorter they go scissor ✂ happy. That angers me. I always cut a little at a time, because sometimes a person may say they want it shorter and the hair dresser turns the chair and the woman goes into shock. 😔

I don't understand why her hair was not cut in an angled bob. That would of made her look even younger! A straight bob is an old Lady look.
And it wasn't even a bob. It was like two totally different styles grafted together. A short layed wedge cut in the back and an unangled (agree with you - dowdy) bob on the sides and front. ?!?!?
The only comment I have is…Does SHE like it? If so, well and good. If not…..well…..let it grow back.
That's exactly what I said. I have a feeling that this "Stylist" gives everyone a specific age and over very similar hair cuts.
Reason I have longer hair is that when you can’t be bothered styling you just put it in a bun or ponytail😂😂

I agree they never can stop cutting. I remember when I was little my mother thought my hair looked too sloppy long. I had a ugly pixie haircut 🤮. I hated it I was suppost to be a girl not a boy.
If every older women looked younger with shorter hair why don’t they? This woman has gorgeous hair she should have started with shoulder length, that’s it. Then she could see how she like it .
The whole thing for me is, will she be able to style it herself at home? I don’t think so. I wouldn’t choose this cut for that reason. The other thing - a LOT of women have this style. I don’t want to look like a lot of other women.
Exactly, I had that for a while and it was horrible as I didn't have time to style it daily. This is actually not an easy style to maintain. Go really short or go really long.

I don’t think even a stylist could do all that blow drying with the barrel brush on their own hair, it’s very hard.
I have the same haircut and at 75 it's the easiest to style. The bangs are too heavy for her otherwise thumbs up

This is horrible! The same happened to me. A hairdresser literally gave me a cut like this, said it was "age appropriate", I left there looking like a dude and an old house frail. Thank God my hair grows fast. It is the way you style your hair and carry yourself that will make you look younger.

I'm growing mine at 75 years old. No hairdresser for me until it's much longer. Cut it short and have regretted it ever since.
That is your personal preference. Everybody has their opinion, but knocking short hair on older women is wrong. Some HAVE to have short hair. I know people that their hair only grows to a certain length. Like EVERYTHING, be kind you do not know the struggles of others. We all need to think before we speak. Had the same issue carol. About year and half ago I hacked off about 15 inches. Usually do that every 7 years or so. My hair gets very curly when it's short or cut into layers. It's a cute style for me, but I no longer care for it and find it ages me. Fortunately my hair still grows fast. Totally regretted my cut as well.

No where in her comment was she unkind. She stated her opinion for herself. Same here - my hair quite long, well past shoulder length and layered. It’s blonde (wella 12/0) and naturally curly/wavy.
There seems to be a trend in shaming older women who choose to wear longer hair. I am glad you do not listen to them.

Not a becoming style and does not look good on most people. Works for a young pretty face with smaller features, but that's about it.

my great grandmother had waist long hair and wore it in a distinguished bun. I saw her with her hair down ONE time...and for a second I could invision her as a younger woman...I bet she could too. I think that this generation should STOP shaming older women into these short manly styles.

I've done hair for 37 yrs now and totally agree. Short hair on older women does NOT ALWAYS MAKE THEM LOOK YOUNGER! It's the persons face shape and overall look. My mom is 78 and she has a mid length haircut. She can wear short, med or long and still looks younger then her age. Ppl always say we look like sisters and I just turned 54 yesterday May 23rd.

The only way to make her look 10 years younger is to cover up the gray hair, don't cut it too short and put a little bit of makeup on her. Definitely get rid of the gray hair, because gray hair makes you look 20 years older than what you are.

I am 56 and have very long hair
I'll be 69 this fall, and have long hair, several inches below my shoulders. natural dark hair, with about 35 or 40 percent gray. if I want short I'll put it up in a high ponytail or bun. I've had bad haircuts in the past, done with that.
Styling a good haircut should be easy and nearly fall into place.

I agree. I wear my hair in a short shag and I’m 63. Long hair makes me look older plus it can give me headaches. I have chronic migraines. People are not taking into consideration that a lot women wear their hair shorter for easement of fixing it due to chronic illnesses they may have. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis in hands, migraines. I think she looks great! Can’t believe all the negative reviews.
She gave her a very skilled haircut:) I think it turned out great! Although my hair looks best with a short cut and that’s the way I wore it most of my life because of my occupation in the health field. Covid allowed me to get through the awkward stages to grow it out and now I love being able to put it up or pull it back when I want to get it off my neck and face. But the truth of the matter is I need to get it styled as it’s curly/wavy and kind of out of control. Lol

Its not that hair has to be short as we get older, its that there's no time to mess with long hair and gets to difficult to handle, plus my long hair gives me headaches because of the weight when i wear my hair up, I've had long hair all of my life, im 57 now and im tired of dealing with a lost fight, this cut looks cute but id keep mine near my shoulders for now, im excited, cant wait ☺️❤

Great cut! This client has gorgeous hair naturally. I liked it best at the pre-hair spray stage. Its so shiny and swingy without the spray.
When I was younger I wore my hair long, but as I got older it started thinning out and would look very straggly you could vertically see right through my hair, so wearing it shorter gave it more volume and looked more healthy.

Her hair is very straight, it hangs perfectly, excellent cut , the top and sides have flow and movement , the heat element is easy , she just tucked the ends down, I think the style slenderize her face nicely. She probably didn't want it dyed it can ruin the texture of your hair

All you people trying to blame the stylist obviously did not see the messages on the screen. After the first cut a message came up saying the client wanted it shorter. My opinion of long hair on older women is it definitely makes them look older.
The stylists skulls need further training. Had something similar done to my hair by a friend who used to be a hair stylist....it was bldy awful snd the back of my hair looked like birds nest every morning.

When your hair is grey you have to go back to the hairdresser for the coloring every 3 weeks. You get fed up with it.

@@squeint @signaturesalon_tn Ich. No they didn't. the cut was horrible. It was like 2 different styles grafted together. There was all that layering in the back that went up way too high and flattened the back of her head. Which would have been fine is the sides were cut to go with it. But the sides were left without layering and closer to one length. So, flat in back, puffed out and shapeless on the sides, and because of the one length puffed out at the sides, even though a shorter cut - it didn't give the face a "lift" like a shorter cut is intended to do. It's actually hard to tell if it improved the woman's look because they didn't show a before and after. I can't for the life of me understand why she butchered the back like that if she wasn't going to carry through with a style that blends on the sides and front. And the back just layed weird. I'm thinking it will (hopefully) look better if the woman just lets it air dry. All of the flat ironing made it look dowdy.
I noticed that too. And I'm not even a stylist. But it was so obvious.

I'm old. I have hair beyond my waist. It's Grey and much thinner than it used to be. Sometimes, I wear it loose and style it, but most of the time, it's in a long side braid with wispy bangs and side tendril curls. Easy peasy.
