I love this series Jonathan…..a step by step look at nodding on an affordable platform and assessing with every step. Fun to watch and I’m working on getting myself to really listen for sonic difference/changes. Keep the mojo goin’….. Cheers.
Yes! I have one about an EMG S4 coming next week, and hopefully a few about bridges, then dropping a precision bass pickup in there! Stay tuned to the rest of the series. Thanks for watching!
Bonjour! And thanks for watching! The demo song was a bass line I made up, and aside from the file name of “bronco demo song”, it doesn’t have a name! Hope you’re enjoying the series.
Shielding is meant to decrease the bass’s susceptibility to electromagnetic noise. Less buzz and hum. What are you referring to by bridging? Thx for watching!
The difference to me would be impossible to guess if you did not indicate on the screen which was which. I have one of these, in white, on the way, along with a 51P cheap pickup I found on ebay- I think the 51P pickup is ever so slightly larger, but it was only 19 dollars so I was willing to take a chance to have four poles and a naked pickup in the white pickguard, as I feel, not hear, but just feel the four poles and black bobbin will make me happier, I know that's stupid though so I will live with the stock white pickup if it does sound good on these videos! Here is the title of the ebay auction if you are wanting to see what putting a 51P pickup entails- 51 P-Bass Single Coil Pickup Alnico 5 Magnet Tele Bass
Cool project! Does it come with a pickup cover? If not, depending on how much your hands sweat, and the makeup of the sweat, I've heard of stories where pickups have been destroyed from exposure. Please let us know how it fits and sounds!! Thanks for watching!
@@jonathanwong458musicSince the sonic bronco uses a standard p-bass type bridge, the strings should line up with the poles of a '51 pickup better than the affinity series bronco with the two saddle bridge did...having bought and sold alot of old basses, what you said about hand sweat is dead on, not just the pickups themselves though but the bridge and the pickguard screws often get corroded from it as well...frets too even
Yup, bass is not much quieter with shielding, presence of shielding doesn’t really alter or improve the tone, …then purely from a dollars and cents/economics perspective, why bother?!

Thanks so much for watching and for the encouragement! High mass bridge video being edited, uploading soon! More pickup options to come, too!
Thank you for this test ; in my headphones there is a small difference in favor of the post-shielding sound. Best regards from France too
Thanks so much for watching from across the pond!
Hey! Great video! :)
Are you planning to make more videos about pickups for bronco or how to fix the hum?
Yes! I have one about an EMG S4 coming next week, and hopefully a few about bridges, then dropping a precision bass pickup in there! Stay tuned to the rest of the series.

Hello, great video as always ! What is the name of the demo song you played ? Best regards from France

The sound is a little darker and a little better after shielding
What is shielding for ?

Thanks for commenting!
I agree, too subtle for my taste.
Have to really really listen! Definitely not a big difference! Thanks for watching!
I agree, not enough difference to matter. I think Fender already figured that out....
