Chuck I was diagnosed with CHF…Congestive Heart Failure. Fro the photo of your MIL legs - the look like mine did. You can press on hear leg ( below the knee with three fingers.. if there is visible prints then she is retaining fluid. Salt is the main reason (Bummer for Thais). I am on Water Pills (Bumetanide).2mg and two heart meds Empagliflozen (half Tab once a day Also called JARDIANCE) 2. Spironolactone 25mg am/pm - it is also a treatment high blood pressure and fluid retention. CaroSpir - Aldactone or brand names. CHF signs - shortness of breath - fatigue. NO SALT… ELEVATE LEGS (blood flow to your heart from your legs. Hospitalized in Jan for 11 days and Feb for 7 days before the changed my meds.
You can run this by your local pharmacist ❤. Good luck

Just a thought here, but if you bought 2 pieces of cardio equipment, either you, Paige or another member of the Mafia ladies could accompany your mother in law in a gentle exercise routine. Once Mafia is used to exercising and motivated enough, you could give one of the cardio machines to Kara for her to use indoors.

Hope your MIL is feeling better & getting better. About the Heart Xray..not very informative. With her symptoms...If you can get her a Vascular Ultrasound...look into it. Very informative & painless no radiation etc etc Not expensive either. Chok Dee
They also did an Ultrasound. Crazy cheap price.
Also, you might wanna get your motherinlaw diabetic compression socks. They might help a lot.

When I think about how busy I am in my retirement, I wonder how I ever had the time to go into a 9-5 40-hour-a-week job for almost 40 years. 🙂

The heart will enlarge if you have water retention gone through the same with my 92 year old father he has been on the tablets for a month took to hospital in the week and he is back go normal she must raise her feet slightly when sitting or lying for long periods all the best to you all

I am in that age group that worries when you go to the doctors as they could find anything my brother when in for the flu same symptoms I had his turned out to be pneumonia, heart attack and cancer. He would his check ups just like me we would get two major ones twice a year and then if you got sick and went to urgent care once or twice a year and because of Covid they wouldn’t allow amen for a blood change which would’ve saved his life. Oh well don’t like to be a bummer I’m glad all things worked out for your mother-in-law then again I get it I retain water on the ankles for a few days that had me worried because that’s heart condition sign. I don’t know what it was but I haven’t had it since so it’s all good.

I managed to get a nice case of Chronic Venous Reflux with the valve in my right leg. Cramping, burning and numbness. I’m doing a procedure from a vascular surgeon at Bangkok Hospital Korat. It’s the blood not returning properly. She needs testing Ultrasound for Chronic Venous Insufficiency and if need be a Abatement surgery to close the bad valve.
Your a good man Chuck! In the end somewhat good news for Mafia. It's nice to see all her supports come along. It sure as heck is not the Western way that's for sure. They are all very lucky to have you in there lives..

Thailand is good in medicine but when it comes to things like transplant organs etc it's quicker in India doctors are well known vast experience

Had a Echo check on my heart in Surin found out had a mitral valve leak,bad in Japan ,Okinawa getting surgery tomorrow morining ,get her to get a Echo check i had no idea.
I’m surprised they didn’t give her water pills..glad she’s doing better though..
We can buy most things at outside hospital pharmacy. Even though it is still inexpensive they prefer to not overpay.

My mom had swollen ankles and it was congestive heart failure. (At 76). My buddy who did a lot of coke had the same thing at 43.

Hey Chuck and Paige and the Mafia gang, very interesting video, my friends. All of those problems Paige Mom has are among the same problems that I am having. I think it is probably "normal" for her age. I have the leaky valve in my heart in the back on the left. When UT gets to the point that it has to be replaced, it's a simple operation and probably only in the hospital for one day. I'm sure the Doctor mentioned that she needs to cut down on her salt in her diet. That's may be difficult if she continues cooking and eating the way she is doing now. I have found that Thai food is high in salt, so she may have to prepare some food just for herself without so much salt in it. It's what I have to do.
Mafia is close to my age, and it just happens to be the age our bodies start to make great changes, and we have to adjust our lifestyle to the way our body functions now. Yes, it is hard. ❤

i coulda told you it was water rentention and would be given water pills ) willing to bet they also said it was due to lack of excercise (ask me how i know LOL ) , the sweling can be relieved with massage if you google Lymphatic drainage massage

I would suggest looking into treatments offered by Dr. Peter McCollough from Texas in regarding to side effects associated to the safe and effective treatment.
