I'm glad you acknowledge how you're judging her before she even starts but sis that's a trait you should work on. As women especially it's really horrible to know someone just doesn't like someone without any reason. Anyways Miley did great here, but we all have different taste. She can't sound like the original neither is she trying to.
I agree! 14 seconds in and this lady already has something to say about the way she’s moving her butt? 😭 I think miley is completely rocking it! Her stage presence is fantastic. She also has such a distinct voice.. you know it’s her instantly. Very talented. She killed it
@@riggamorrischan I am just not a fan. This was a request by a very good member here and I did what I said I would do. I did have preconcieved feelings about it before I ever started, and, it was just not for me. I don't doubt that she works hard and appreciate her self confidence, but I am not going to lie and say I loved it when I clearly didn't. I am just always going to be honest. "THIS LADY", is always going to do her best to be sincere and give true reactions. I get it if you disagree, that's fine. We all have our opinions and I Love exploring new music and Artists. I'm not going to love them all, and I'd rather take a few critical comments than to be dishonest. There is so much out there to explore- I won't waste time on things that I just don't like! But, I did try and that's all anyone can expect. Cheers to you and Happy 2022!
I am just being honest. I would rather take criticism than pretend to like something that I don't. I tried and it just wasn't for me. That's ok too. There's way too much music out there to listen to and there's going to be stuff I don't like. I am who I am and I do try to be the best person I can be everyday. It doesn't mean I will change who I am for others though. I will never be nasty or mean- but I won't be intimidated either. I can't dislike someone that I don't even know...I just don't care for her music or style. To each his own. Cheers and happy 2022~

Hey trust me she is going to make it up over your head. People dont like her because they judge her for HM break days. People sleep on her skills. Trust me none has the ability and voice texture in this current generation. Her song writing skills are amazing. You should watch more of her covers. My fav is Maybe by Janis Joplin and Like a prayer. People keep on forgetting she is 31. Plus she has been absent from limelight, social media since a long period of time. When was the last controversy you heard of her? It was all during her HM days.

You should watch the youtube video where the audio and the performance are mixed in order to change your mind about how she wants to be Debbie Harry; she does not. Harry does a very ethereal interpretation whereas Cyrus one is totally gutsy. As you said, almost exactly the same music but so totally different vocals. Even Debbie Harry praised Miley make the song "uniquely hers". In a way you have been more catholic than the Pope.
Respect for your honesty! The matter of musical tastes, I did not like this performance of Miley ...

Hi Carlos, I know, and you are right about my pre-judgements. I recognize that. But I still just don't like her music. Wrecking Ball isn't bad, and the one she did with that guy (I can't think of his name, but his dad was big in TV) had a good beat, but I just can't do it. I definitely disagree about her being a great talent, but that's just my opinion. I do try to keep an open mind, but if you don't like something, and you try it again and it still doesn't ring true to you, it's best to be honest. If people don't like my taste in music, that's fine. I get it. But no need for negative comments. There is a lot more music that we can agree on than what we disagree on. I'd prefer to lean into that! Cheers!

We'll most likely agree to disagree on this one! I'm so sorry to say, but I feel she'll always have that "Hannah Montana sticker" on her forehead for you (and most people living in the past). But yet, Hannah Montana was a Disney character Miley played as an actress... almost 15 years ago! Miley is no longer that shy and reserved little teenager she was back then. She must be "judged" for what she performs and how she acts today, not what she did in the past. Yes she's different than the little girl she was, and yes she's assumed and displays a high level of self confidence... does that make her a bad artist, a bad singer, a bad role model and deserves to suffer from preconceived judgements? I don't think so!
I really don't think she was trying to be Deborah Harry by any means, but I felt she really took the song and put her own twist to it. She belted that song from the get go (note how she grounds herself to push notes all the way from her waist) and she took this legendary song and sang it in her own style. I think the goal with her rendition was not to be vocally or technically perfect, but more to gave an interpretation of this song that matches her personnality. Her costume, her attitude, the style she moves and sing, etc... Miley Cyrus, as an artist, is the total opposite of what her Disney character was.
The young girl she was 15 years ago when she portrayed Hannah Montana grew up tremendously to become a totally assumed woman who doesn't give a s*** about what people thinks of her and what she does. She doesn't seem to have any body or self confidence issues, and her "I don't give a s***" attitude make people talk. I agree she might not the best role model for young girls when she feels like exposing her body more than necessary. But I mean, most people, myself included, will never ever have an hundredth of the self confidence she displays, and for that, she's a great role model. But I also think she is stunningly talented as an artist, a vocalist and performer. She also matured a lot vocally, often changing style as she grow older. She performs in her own style. The fact she didn't even felt needed the music had to be different for her cover is a testament of her appreciation for the original version from Blondie, which was performed in a disco-pop style. Miley took the music and lyrics as is, and performed like it was her own song, in her own full attitude, punk-rock style, and sang it with an "in your face" intensity Deborah did not had in the original version.
Personnally, I think the 2020 - 2021 version of Miley Cyrus did an awesome cover of this iconic song when we take it for what it is... a punk-rock cover of Heart of Glass by Blondie! Props to Miley for covering a song as legendary as this one in her own style, personality, energy and intensity.

Hi Eliane. I appreciate your comment and agree, we disagree! lol. But, hey, that's ok. We can't always agree on everything! Something about her, it's just like nails on a chalkboard. Having self confidence is a positive trait and I will give her credit for that. She has a couple of songs that I wouldn't turn the radio channel from if it came on, so I guess that's something...lol. Miley is good at singing a rock song, this isn't a rock song so the voice doesn't suite the song.

This was definitly not one of my finer moments for sure! lol. But, If I want to be transparent and give honest "reactions" sometimes they aren't all going to be great. I did react again to her months later, with "Flowers" and it totally changed my mind. So, sometimes it takes a few bad seeds to get to the good ones...Or I would have never reacted to the latter. Live & lear, is the best thing I can do...Cheers. I hope you will continue to check out some of the others...
Have never been a fan of Miley Cyrus. But after watching the performance with Metallic doing Nothing Else Maters, I was impressed. Her voice has changed a bit since her operation. Worth checking this one out.

Never have been a Miley Cyrus fan, but I have to say she's got a great voice in general. And there's been a bunch of rock songs I've heard her do the past few years that shocked me of how great she did with them. This song ain't for me though. But I also never cared for Blonde. Now when Miley sang "Jolene" that is when I 1st realize how great a voice she has and her vibrato is insane. But I won't go out of my way to listen to anything from her. But the girl has got real skills. Just her music selection is mostly not for me. She sing rock and country extremely well. I do love rock but not much of a Country fan. I just respect talent.
Btw, I missed that Courtney Hadwin video you mention a few weeks ago. I'm saddened. lol

I love these reactions this song is a classic nothing will be better then the classic but this song wouldn’t have made it to the new generation if Miley didn’t make this version… sometimes songs have to be changed to reach a new audience times are always changing at least this song is being remembered and passed down!

Thanks for your comment! I have to say that I don't agree with you on it being better than the original though. As for it having more "likes & views" that's because this song was created and performed in the 70's Long before the internet, and the people that love Blondie (Debra Harry) as lead vocals- are my age or older and don't watch like the younger generation. Blondie was an ICONIC group, with a mega following back in the day. (You should check out some of their other hits) As for Miley, she can sing, for sure- it's just not my cup of tea. I love all kinds of Music, but there's always going to be those that you just don't really care about, that she it that to me. But Good for her, and her successes.

I am totally on the same page as you with this. I am a big Blondie fan, so this showed up in my feed. I enjoyed wrecking ball, probably her best as well as her rendition on Dolly's Jolene. she has a good voice but this cover didn't do it for me either. although, Blondie did praise her on twitter.

I wouldn't have normally chosen this myself, but it was a request by a very good Patreon & UA-cam member. So I did it.
