@@tethu1740"Spastic" refers to spasticity and similar disabilities, but it's considered an offensive, derogatory term nowadays, specifically in the UK. Mario Party 8 had to be recalled in Europe because that term was being used in the game, so they had it changed to "erratic".

Fun Fact: In the United Kingdom, various copies of Mario Party 8 were recalled due to this board featuring a scene where Magikoopa would alter the order of the cars, chanting "Magikoopa magic! Turn the train spastic! Make this ticket tragic!", "spastic" being a highly offensive word in the UK for anyone with cerebral palsy. Later copies changed the lines, replacing "spastic" with "erratic".
My cousin actually had one of the pre-recall copies, because I distinctly remember seeing it when I played it with him back in the day. Not sure if he's still got it unfortunately

It’s more or less just like how you can duel for a star with coins in previous games.
Being a train enthusiast, I can easily recognize that all three trains are of a 4-6-4 wheel arrangement. But it's odd as they're of a 4-6-4T design, which is the more rare of the format.

The T usually stands for Tank engine. Tank engines hold their water in tanks on the sides of them as opposed to tender engines where the water is held in the tender. There’s variations of tank engines like saddle tank engines (or ST) where their tank wraps around them like a saddle.

Fun Fact about Mario Party 8's Duel Candy, only the player who used the candy and started the duel can steal Stars. If the person that was challenged wins they can only take coins no matter what.
For short only the Duel Instigator gets coins or stars if he wins and the Challenger only gets coins if he wins.
The rule is dumb I agree it's so stupid.

To be fair, you can’t expect someone to remember core parts of the map without looking at it, even if they should know the layout. In my head, I’ve memorized Horror Land’s layout, but I’m still gonna somehow low roll my way into not hitting both boos trying to land perfectly with custom without looking.
@@Endershock1678 perhaps I was being a bit harsh (I’d literally just woken up when I wrote that comment lol), but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect someone to remember the vague position of the 1 space they want to avoid. He shouldn’t remember exactly where it was in the carriage but he should know at the very least that it’s near the end. There’s never anything important at the start of the carriages so if he didn’t remember its position he should’ve rolled low for his last turn, avoiding the risk. Even I could’ve told you that and I’ve never touched this map, my only experience with it being this video, let alone had I been playing it for an hour and it’s my favourite game. Like if you ask me right now to avoid the bank at the start of Bowser Land; I don’t remember exactly where it is (I think it’s like 4 or 5 from the start) I’m going to roll a 1 or 2 on my last turn to be safe, that kind of thing.
But I can see where you’re coming from, it’s an easy mistake to make. I guess it just rubbed me wrong that Vern chose to blame Eevee for it when he had a lot of other options he could’ve taken to avoid what happened. Plus hey, it didn’t even matter in the end, I don’t think the standings shifted at all because of that play.
@@BertiboyMy guess is that Vernias thought rolling the highest would land him in the next train car so that he would for sure avoid the DK space. Either that or wanting to avoid any red spaces. It kind of is Eevee’s fault a little bit because Vernias asked to see the map to avoid what happened and Eevee refused haha. They definitely both share the blame for that

Fun fact about mario party 7 and 8, the duel wheel is rigged in favor of the person who initiated the duel. Its probably because duels are harder to do in these games but its still ass imo
The way duels work in MP8 is that if the one that uses the candy (aka duel initiator) wins then they get a chance to take stars while if the one that was pulled into the duel by the initiator, the prize is less. Since it is more difficult to get a duel to happen, they made the punishment lesser on the initiator to make them more likely to use it.
