Well its never too late. Gopher has helped a lot of people in the past, but now he has taken a hiatus from Skyrim. Maybe you can do some videos on how to install more "complicated" mods/ENBs... i constantly see people, for instance, on the FB skyrim nexus page always asking how, even though the instructions are on the mod page. Some people just need your videos...

A nice reference - thanks for putting it together! One point to note is that setting timescale to anything less than 20 before reaching Riverwood is likely to break either the cart ride or Alduin's entrance. For normal game play, 5 is the lowest you should go as regular quests can break due to the timings being off.

Maybe I just missed it, but did you talk about using the arrow keys to quickly reissue previously typed commands? You can scroll up and down through commands you've already entered this way. Very useful when using the TM command. :) You can also use the page up and page down keys to move through long lists when searching for a particular REF or whatever. Sorry if you mentioned this already, I was rudely interrupted during my first watch, on my second now.

Oh wow, I never knew these type of commands except the few commands such as tcl for being stuck (or laziness) and tfc 1 for pictures.
This is super interesting and informative, quite surprised at it. I'll be sure to use these in Fallout 4 for whatever purposes I may require them for lol

Good Tutorial.
One of problems that using cosnole command which UESP listed under their warning section was that they can break quests, or make them impossible to complete. I had first hand experience with this while mod testing
I was using the COC console commands to quickly get through the main quest. I teleported myself from whiterun directly into Bleak Falls Sanctum, then back to Dragonsreach,, to the western watch tower, then back to Dragonsreach, to high hrothgar, then directly to Ustengrav Depths. (Beak Falls Barrow sanctum is the second area of Bleak Falls Barrow, likewise Ustengrav Depths is the second area of Ustengrav.)
When I got to the room where you are supposed to find the mysterious letter, I found nothing. No horn, no letter, nothing. When I examined the altar where the letter was supposed to be, I got a quest update. However, the update told me to read the letter, but I couldn't because I did not have the letter, the letter was not there.
After some more searching, I realized that the main quest is now broken. I eventually realized that the cause of that was my unrestricted use of the coc commands. I think that there must be some trigger in the main section of Ustengrav that causes the letter to appear, and I must have bypassed that trigger, thus no letter. (at least that is my theory.)
The reason why I am telling you all this is because I am hoping that other people can learn from my mistakes.using COC is nice, but it's use should be very limited. There are so many invisible triggers in the game that triggers spawning creatures, items, events, and even quests that if you bypass one of those triggers, that might prevent you from being able to complete some quests.

This is very helpful, Michael! Morrowind had a console command "fixme" to help get the player unstuck....I've missed that command sooo much! "TCL" sounds like it will do the trick ;) Thanks!
+Cinda S welcome = ) ... i've used tcl and tgm when needed without ever having it be a reason for crashes or corruption... however, using tcl too long will crash the game (running all over the world with it on).

Also, you don't have to type the zeros at the beginning. For example : "player.additem f 1000" would do the same thing without the zeros.

Also, as a bonus, most of these same commands also work in Fallout NV and Fallout 3. I hope it's the same in Fallout 4 for consistency and convenience :).

Hello Michael. I've recently found your channel and the content is just fantastic :) I know this is a fairly old video, but just a note, if you haven't found this yourself already, it might help others. You don't need to add any zeros that come on the left of a code, example: 00023abc spawns a Werewolf. You can simply do 23abc and it'll still work just fine. Also, I was messing around with the console and found some unused weapons and some that only NPC's can use, such as the Dwarven Sphere "Crossbow", which turns into a Hunting Bow of Flames while equipped. It won't show up on the inventory, but it can still be used with the player.equipitem command. Some other useful commands would be playerenchantobject . Using this, I made myself a ring that spawns an infinite Dragon Priest. :) Anyways, thanks once more for this tutorial! Keep going with the roleplay videos :D Peace o/
Sorry for being months late = ) But thank you for commenting. the 0's are not needed in most cases. Though when I tried spawning some Falmer a couple weeks back they wouldn't spawn without the 0's =) ... first time I had that experience.

Whoa! Hey Michael! It's alright about the late reply. I totally understand. I've been sorta away from Skyrim right now because my PC's been overheating suddenly and I don't want to push it. I really want a decent GPU to use mods like EFLX and some minor flora overhauls but they cost so much here where I live. =/ Wish you the best and keep up the awesome work in your videos!

i only needd the 15 artifacts achivement and kill a legendary dragon, but im lvl 63 atm,
But CAQS did coplete the 15 artifacts thing, after it didnt crash but i was naked and had to reload my quick safe.
So thx as i dont need to play a new game to get all 15 items. :)
Very useful tutorial.
In my game, I use FOV 85 and Set Timescale to 4. The default Timescale is far too fast.

I can't believe that i can't find the commands for changing where the cross hairs and camera are on screen . I'm trying to figure out how to lower the camera on SSE , i want it above my head for bows beside my head for other weapons and spells and down by my elbow without anything equipt . I'm playing as a Breton and i don't need too see 20 feet of sky above my head , i would prefer seeing my body and the ground without having to be zoomed out a mile .

PLEASE HELP!!!! im doing the dragon rising quest but its glitching and wont let me speak to the jarl, he just keeps saying "not now" after I handed in the stone and gave it to the wizard guy. Not really helpful case the one command in all of youtube that isn't appropriately shown with a an original game save in it for the save command is the save command -__- and it's the I am trying to find. I hate that the game forces you to level every level without choosing how many levels to progress.

I dont think so. I know that mods exist that change music but I don't know if one allows you to change it at will... may be worth asking a mod author like the one who created Celtic Music in Skyrim (he's a gamerpoets longtime viewer)... if anyone knows I bet he would.

How do you pertinently set the time so you don't have to set it every time you start up your game?
+Jokerjacob18 Do you mean the "timescale"? - This setting determines how fast the ingame time moves. For example, if you want the days and nights to go by slower ingame you can type "set timescale to 10" in the console and then save your game and now your ingame time will go twice as slow as vanilla. (the vanilla timescale is 20)
Yes i know that but is their a way to PERTINENTLY set the time so every time I enter the game I don't have to manually set it?
If you're talking about the timescale then that setting should be saved and applied permanently once you type it in - until you change it again.

is there a command that can zoom out the screen I downloaded the kryptonian race and used its kryptonian sight power and yet I can not get out of it my screen is completely zoomed in
+Luckas TV Not that I'm aware of. There are commands that allow you to zoom the camera tfc and tfc 1 and then sucsm allows you to change the camera speed but you can't move your character at that point. If you mean a command that gives you a permanent zoomed out camera, no. There is probably an .ini setting that could help with that. If there is one it will be on the STEP wiki site.

The mod manager that you use wouldn't be considered when using Console Commands. Commands are base game functions. They work they same no matter what manager you use (or don't use).

+Mr,Mustache Never tried to force character into position before. If you are good with photoshop you can always edit 2 different dragons in... i've used photoshop many a times... even for videos.

Hi! I would love to know if there's anyway to "save" console commands. For example, i have some one or two trees that kinda doens't fit the place i'm in and i want to remove if, but i need to do this everytime i load the game. Is there anything that changes it alone?

You would need to use the creation kit, go to those cells and disable the trees you don't like.

... if it's something you need to aqcuire through the perk tree I'm not sure. You'd look up the Perk commands.
I opened it by accident but how do I open it again? I have no idea what I did to open “command state.”

I place NPCs infront of me using player.placeatme followed by their ID ... there may be another way to do it.

Cuz my keyboard is different, and the console key is ' and " , so I can't type help "Miraak's sword", to search for more specific items or NPCs.
No. You'd have to see if a mod existed that hacked into the engine to do that. Unlikely.

use the purge on fast travel ini file setting instead... can't think of the name off hand. I always have it on. not sure how much it helps but it never hurt

The amount of time it would take to get a proper example of a quest command in action was most likely not worth the effort to me at the time.

When typing in an item-id in the console, the first zero's can be omitted. For example, if you want gold, just type f (space) and then the amount you want. The zero's are not necessary.

I've had issues when placing certain npc's infront of me (falmer, for reasons unknown) in my game. Without the 0's they don't appear (this only happened to me today lol so I have no clue)

That's a good question. I've never personally thought of special items like that. I know (and you obviously do to) how to give myself an item but in your situation I'm not sure at the moment. There may be a command to give yourself an item from someones inventory but I can't remember. Have you checked out the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages? Most commands in the video came from there.

Did you steal the sanquine rose? Not sure why it would even be stolen. You could try to sell it to the thieves guild fence then buy it right back? I'm sure there's a way to do it in xEdit but I wouldn't recommend it without having a good working knowledge on the program.

@@ApplePie1529 I bet they could if they really wanted. It's a developer tool used to test the game out. Push a key. Enter a command. I think console players, obviously, would appreciate it. Very helpful for when your character gets stuck in a misaligned piece of landscape.

Great video! I learned a lot...but a couple of caveats;
1) leading zeros on codes can be omitted; "player.additem f 99999" works just fine
2) I would've warned people that dropping timescale below 6 can cause problems.
+Michael N someone else mentioned that too = ) good info to know for the next version.. and for the fallout 4 one)... ive mentioned broadly that settings can corrupt things. I'll add some specifics in the remake including this one as well.
