I had to fix the brake handle on my 72 super beetle, the button was pushed way in so I had to reset the cats paw! I discovered the root cause, the cables were not running under the shoes on the back of the handle, they must have popped off and were just running under the pivot pin! The previous owner apparently didn’t understand what was wrong and had run the adjustment nuts all the way in to the end of the threads! So putting the cables on correctly after backing the nuts off and resetting the cats paw, it all works well again!

Two things you should mention when installing the handle, the notch in the toothed part needs to hook onto the top edge of the tunnel and be sure the cables route under the shoes on the bottom rear of the brake lever. I figured that all out trial and error!
    Great video!

Thank you sir! I was pretty much refurbishing my handle so I showed how it function. Probably would’ve been a good idea to do the complete install the handle. I had to remove it again for floor work lol Thank you.

Nice job again Tony, that will help a lot off guy’s with that specific problem. O a tip, when your done painting with a rattle can, flip it over and spray the paint out off the tube until it’s clear. No more blocked nuzzle.
