My wife got me one for my birthday and I'm a beginner, so some of the limited features are actually a bonus. I actually found some old 3/8" copper tubing pieces about 6" under my road base driveway that have been there for years. They are some remnants of some recycling I did in the past. Picked them up with the discrepancies setting at 45. Very cool.
Just purchased this exact same machine in like new condition at an auction site for 40 bucks. Just couldn't pass it up at a price like that. The overall reviews on this model seem to be very favorable as well
You really like to smack out "beginner entry level machine" even though the features are comparable to NON beginner level machines. That is called logical bias. Inexpensive doesn't necessarily mean "cheap" or "low quality." You stating that it is a Garrett imitation because it is yellow and has an S handle... Yellow doesn't automatically mean Garrett, and MOST brands use an S handle design, not just Garrett. If it was a Garrett knockoff, it would look, feel, and have the functions as a specific Garret machine, but with a different company logo. To give you an idea, I have a knockoff chainsaw. Most of the parts will even interchange with the name brand unit. The question of the day, HOW WELL DOES IT ACTUALLY WORK??? You gave a supposed review and never once showed the unit in action!

@5280Adventures it's the Signal meter on this detector; the higher the meter the deeper the object. It doubles as the Sensitivity meter.
Thorough desktop review. My negative would be having to jump thru the menu settings in the field when I want to quickly change sensitivity etc. Thanks

buy the simplex for $254 way more detector and completely waterproof stands up to high end detectors best entry level detector
