good morning David, the Pulp mill looks terrific, and nice to see it’s now in full production… Amazing how those couples got so intertwined, a real puzzle to get them apart. Take care. Oscar
Hello Oscar. Thank you, it has turned out very nice and yes, there will be a lot more rail traffic on the line now. The coupler certainly need patience in order to separate those two wagons. Regards, David.
Ha ha Anthony, balancing that toilet roll on that gondola was an obstacle for sure but it really wasn't part of my vision of the mill lol. I may be biased but I agree with you, the mill looks great.
That pulp mill is huge mate. It's hard yakka building and then painting and weathering. But it has turned out pretty good. Those types of buildings have slightly differing shades of paint in real life anyway. The protected and exposed surfaces always have a bit of contrast. I sometimes blend a small dot of while oil paint on areas I want to fade, it helps hide areas where the paint doesn't quite match. Artists oil paint gives you heaps of time to make adjustments. Less is more though. This has been a good project David, a very good huold. Steven.
Hi Steven, certainly the biggest kit I've ever put together, hard yakka at times but to prevent that I gave myself two months to do it. Walthers kits are not always the best and that's putting it kindly but with careful preparation and test fitting the parts this one was more pleasure than pain. Learning those subtilties in colour shades is tough for me but a white wash has been a saviour on this project. Yes, it's been a good project and a good build, the pulp mill could soon rival the docks for traffic on the main lines. Cheers, David.
Hi David, another great video! The pulp mill is looking good now, you must be very pleased with it. It was never going to be easy painting that corrugated structure, but it's come out well in the end. I wouldn't want to be the guard on that Cosco load!
Hello Stephen. I am indeed pleased with the pulp mill, I couldn't be happier with the colour match for the green and the weathering looks good to me now too. I couldn't fit a full size Costco roll on the wagon, I had to pare that one down a bit. lol.
Hi and thank you. As this piece of bench work is only temporary I won't be doing much in the way of scenery although I expect to be adding details such as an electrical power substation and conveyors etc. Cheers, David.
Hello Peter, the pulp mill is certainly the largest structure/ industry on the layout and thankfully it is in a different room to the main layout or it might dominate the scene. It is hard to know just how a paint job will turn out but I couldn't be more pleased with the way this went. Cheers, David
I really love the new Mill!! but LOL ya had to rob the bathroom of its paper ha ha love it!! 😂😂the mill is very nice looks wonderful on the layout! zthanks for sharing and look forward to seeing it more! take care have a wonderful week!!
Hi Nancy, I just knew you would see the humor in my paper load. Glad you like my mill. Now I have to find a safe home for it when my wife needs access to her closet, (I have to admit that she has been very tolerant during the build.) I expect there will be videos of switching the mill from time to time. Cheers and you have a good week too. David.
Hi Bob, the lighting probably won't be a priority as I have to be able to remove everything including the bench work with about 1/2 an hours notice but I'll try to light it up for a quick show.
Me thinks you need an air brush, David. It is a fabulous building. Your pulp mill reminds me of the days when I called on Georgia Pacific. The make a lot of tissue too.
I do have an airbrush Rob but I have got got along with it very well, more practice needed I guess. When I find the lettering this will be a Kruger mill as ours is here. Cheers, David.
Hiya David my friend, un coupling those two sounded like a Krypton factor challenge, the pulp mill is looking fantastic really really nice build, and the finished paper product at the end was a work of genius really clever my friend
Hi Digger, as I said in my video a couple of weeks ago, I wasn't going to rush getting those two wagons apart. It was very delicate and I feared damage but I was confident that I would get there in the end. As you know, Walthers have some incredible kits and I am really pleased with the way this one turned out. As for the load, well I couldn't think of anything more appropriate to start production with. Cheers, David.
Thank you Andy, I am glad you liked my load of paper. lol. The undercoat of paint was sprayed on the building but the rest was hand brushed, I'm happy with it. Cheers, David
Hi John. It is certainly matching my vision for that industry but I still have plans that will almost double it if I am able to put it all together. Nothing much larger than Costco TP for a load eh? lol. (P.S. You would hardly believe how much I am missing Art's comments.)
Hello Elizabeth. Yes, all is fine here and I trust all is well with you. I am on a bit of a summer break, lots to do, and I am not making or watching many videos. Take care, David.
painting and weathering these big kits is a bit daunting after all the time and effort spent building, I`ll be trying an airbrush with some of my projects, but it came out ok in the end.
Hi Clive. This pair of buildings are so big that I thought it would be easier to paint before assembly. I haven't really got comfortable with my ai brush as yet, more practice needed I guess. As you say, this came out ok in the end.
Ciao dear David , i agree with Peter your pulp mill looks amazing my friend and it's nice to see the first train leaving your mill.Liked very much.Congratulations and a big like. All the best,Alberto 🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋
Hi Fred, thank you. I really like the look of the mill myself. I have not thought of using magnets to hold the buildings in place although I do have them under my electricity pylons. Not a bog off, VIP, (very important paper, everyone's got to have it.) lol.
Hi David . Sorry to bother you. I also subscribe to Michael Chartres and watch his videos too but I have noticed that he hasnt posted anything recently . Do u know if hes ok? Kind Regards Richard .
Hello Richard. It is very nice to hear from you. As we headed into winter Michael indicated that he would be getting back to work on his railway but we haven't seen anything as yet. He did comment on my video of last week and there was nothing to indicate that anything was wrong. Perhaps he is just taking the winter off. Regards, David.
The Mill looks great ,thanks for the video.

Hi Mark, good to hear from you. Thank you. David.
Very interesting video, the build looks great
Thank you James, glad you liked the video. The pulp and paper mill is a great kit if you have room for it.
The great part is you overcame all the obstacles to create your vision…mill looks great
Ha ha Anthony, balancing that toilet roll on that gondola was an obstacle for sure but it really wasn't part of my vision of the mill lol. I may be biased but I agree with you, the mill looks great.
Great video! Nice to see that first revenue load leaving the mill.
They are tweaking the machinery in the factory as we speak to resize the the rolls of paper. lol.
l love the load, thanks for sharing. Dave
Thank you Dave, I couldn't resist.

looking good. first thing I thought when I looked at those gig white Stacks. where is the red stripe
Thank you Sparky, I'm still not sure what to do about those stacks but I agree, they don't look quite right. They'll probably get the red stripes.
Great video and the pulp mill looks awesome, looking forward to seeing the lighting in it.

@@trainsontuesday Try Tamiya paints and thin 10-to-one with 99% isopropol alcohol. It makes clean-up a snap and doesn't clog.
Thank you Rob.@@FarlandHowe

Its all come together well David. Poor fellow on the paper - must have eaten some bad food at the drive through
Hi Les, thank you for noticing the fellow on top of the load. I'm very pleased with the look of the project, so far. More to do yet.
that area is looking very nice David. I see that paper will be a large source of revenue for the mill! great vid! :)
