How nice to listen to a story about nice people with caring relationships. So many stories include mean or harmful people. I grew up in a large happy family, and am always dismayed when I listen to stories or news about how people can be terrible to one another.
Louisa May Alcott books can be very challenging to read aloud because they are longer, somewhat more wordy, and in a different style than we are used to today. I think Clarica did an excellent job of reading this book, and I was very happy to find it on UA-cam, since i have been wanting to read Alcott’s books again. Thank you Librivox and Clarica!
Clarica does a great job of reading with expression. Some volunteers read in a monotone, don't know how to pronounce words, go up and down in volume. This was a great listen! Clarica even sings the tunes! Thanks so much for this entertaining recording!
It’s been so very long since I was able to listen to a Louisa May Alcott 📖, I read them when I was in school and that was so long ago. This one seems to be really interesting 🤔 and I’m glad I’m enjoying this again
Librivox is giving you this for free instead of making you pay ~ $20 for the audiobook. I think y'all can deal with the reminder that this was created by VOLUNTEERS for you to enjoy FOR FREE.
Sorry, sam. I find the constant announcement s annoying, too, but they are required by Librivox. I think it probably began during tape recording era when the announcements prevented theft of the recordings.
I love this book in so many ways, but the amount of colonialism and racism in children's books of a certain age gives me such a mix of amusement and horror 😂
It is good that we have those relics of the past. We need them so that we understand the attitudes of the past and so that we can avoid the problems now that existed then. If we expunge, expurgate, and "cancel" those past things that cause us horror, we are all the losers because we will ignore the lessons that they teach. The the past things we may not like should be seen as potential lessons and a talking point with children who read these books rather than a source of moral outrage that must be silenced.

Yes!
This is the book that started my love of reading in elementary school. Now I have a library of around 400 books

Thank you for bringing me back to my childhood spent with my grandmother Dodo. Sleep sweet.
What a great way to make people conscious of being kind to horses.
If only all would read or listen to this book.
Beautifully read too.
Loved it! ❤️I wish more moral and nice books were written nowadays for young children to get inspired

👍👍👍👍
I read at the library
No no no! The consistent Librivox advert ruins every new chapter!
She like sponsored her reading group between chapters???🤨
The LibriVox folks (all volunteers) are trained to start each chapter with the book title, author, and chapter number, etc..
I what hear the book not librivox

@@sk8tergurls713 A free audiobook of an uncommon title, and all I see from you are repeated complaints. Don't listen, then.

She sound like robot and I can’t here her
She is a volunteer and doing her best. Quite different than a professional voice actor.
Why? She sounds so good
Ok ok that’s true but bet she not putting her mouth close to the mic
