Can't wait to see what the grades are when they come back, hoping you get a great grade on these, Daniel! Thanks for including your viewers in the process!
Daniel if you can for Part 3, please save the former slab insert, or dub in a pic of how it formerly looked in it, for a side-by side comparison of the new slab vs the old. CoinGeek does this & it is very interesting.
I appreciate how honest you are, some coins seem like they are better than they graded. Some are worse once you pull them out, it's a gamble. But it's refreshing to see that you admit if you made a mistake but you are upfront about it. Ive been with your channel awhile and don't plan on going anywhere 👍
I agree Daniel it’s much more for the fun and educational reasons then it is to try to get a higher grade and more money out of a coin. What’s learned about the graders through this process is valuable in itself I greatly appreciate it!!!!
Nice job restoring the quarter. I agree the 1880 O looks dipped on camera. The dime does look nice also. Now the gamble comes. So sad they are not able to given a factual grade. Also thanks for the online walkthrough - Wow they charge 15.00 for Variety Plus designation? Must be they do more to the coin than just use a little more ink to print the variety on the label?!
I use the hammer technique for NGC holders outside on a concrete patio to crack the coins out because like you said the plastic can go flying in all directions. I actually hammer on the obverse side top to break the seam. Then I use a flathead screwdriver to open the top. For PCGS holders I use a Channel lock 357 to crack the top off. I haven't done it on any expensive coins over $500 but if the coin is cleaned or damaged I would do it. You neglected to mention that in order to submit coins to NGC one has to pay a $25 associate membership fee that is reduced to $20 in year two. They won't provide paper forms online like PCGS does. Still $25 is a lot less than PCGS's $69 fee. You can also be a member of the ANA but can't submit online forms. They have to be filled out manually and NGC has to provide them. I have one of those coins from 1993 "fatty" NGC holders that I'm going to get reholdered since I like the edge holders better.
Awesome video and thanks for sharing. I'm putting together coins to send off for grading to sell on Ebay and keep for my collection. I appreciate your work and enthusiasm, it makes it easy and enjoyable to watch.
Outstanding video once again. What I see in the grading companies is the same mistakes that a lot of people could make. I believe your videos at least to me there is a hidden message on properly educating yourself on your coins and then asking a few others that are more qualified or equal to you for advice..
Very nice. The risk is always not knowing what lurks under the toning -- so many previously cleaned coins. The 1880 CC seems to be the big winner IMO. Can't wait for the submission reveal video.
Daniel, Here is one thing I learned a while back, NGC and PCGS will not take the coins out of the pop reports unless you actually send them the labels. I resubmitted a good dozen or so from a collection I bought while back, and collector still had the old labels. I even tried to send pic of the old labels out , and they would not remove the pop's unless I sent the actual labels, so basically I said if they dont care enough to keep pop reports accurate, then I am not bothering sending them back
That makes sense though. They should not remove unless they have the physical label returned. Also, the fact that the seller collector did not give up the labels is suspect. Unless you see them crack it out... who knows what you got.
Super informative man. I really appreciate your correspondence on one of your previous videos about the libertad mintages. Kinda squared me away and refocused my goal for me. Instead of the whole 2019 collection I'm just going for the lower mintage 2019 proofs. Quick question, most of the proofs I've acquired up to this point are NGC slabbed and my question is this, if I decide to send my NGC slabbed libertads into pcgs to be slabbed what chances in your opinion would I have of my 70's coming back as lower grades or would I just be spinning my wheels altogether by doing so?
"PCGS is the most brittle plastic" at least their adhesive is good, and the slabs don't easily bend. I got a coin that had just been slabbed by NGC, and I was able to completely break it open by lightly twisting the slab. I was going to crack it open anyway for an album, so the ease was appreciated in that case.
Whenever I crack out a coin. I use my watch back opener. You can usually find them on the web for a couple of dollars. It is meant for obviously tight spots and I just take that and work out along the natural edge of the holder and give it a little twist it breaks it out so good that I could almost be put back together..
There are some occasional gems in those newer sky-blue ICG holders, but most of those coins are pretty overgraded. The older khaki-style ICG slabs are more likely to show a solid grade. I always ask for a good deal on those slabs because I know I'll have to crack them out at some point. If you're looking for a low circulated semi-key Indian Cent, the old ICG holders are a good place to look. They'd insist on full rims for a G6, for example. But even those would probably have to be cracked out before reselling unless you can find a specialist to buy them as-is.
I totally agree about ICG. All over the place, some accurate grades and some way over graded. However not to be overlooked completely because I’ve found some fantastic coins in their holders. Some series are more over graded then others such as Washington quarters and post 1930 Lincoln pennies
Great video. I think you’ll get a PF 65 on the Merc. and a MS65 on the ‘80cc. Proof like? I’ll say yes, only ‘cause I think you’re the best guy doin these types of videos on the internet! 😀Good Luck!
I remember the video when you cut into PVC paperweight. You almost got that Morgan out flawlessly. That last tap of the hammer, uuuhh!. What came out of that anyway? Did you send it out? I have a weight with about 20 1975 cents in it. They seem to be of a very high grade. Ms-68-69 probably. I've thought about getting them out, but it's a neat piece as a collector. Thanks again Daniel.
I've a question I have a lot of copper penny on one one side of the penny has nick bent rims gouges double die the other side of the coin is in great condition is their a reason for that
One thing I don’t like about the companies that grade coins is that there is not somebody on hand who is well-qualified to spot errors or varieties. Why do we have to send them all of this information on what we think it is when nine times out of 10 they will tell you to get lost anyways.. lol In order to get something properly documented and attribute did you have to send it off to Wexler‘s or Mr. Potter and then they will send a letter back that you can send to the big grading companies. Once again I don’t understand why they don’t have somebody on hand. Is it that there’s not enough qualified people out there because I could definitely work for any of the grading companies to attribute errors or varieties... and I’m definitely not that special or over educated... lol
You cannot expect the grading companies to attribute varieties and errors. they have a hard enough time quality controlling grades. Plus, there are thousands of varieties. so you need to do your homework and you need to know what the variety is that you are attributing. To answer your other question, if you discover a variety that is unknown and you want it assigned its own FS #, you need to reach out to Bill Fivaz. I went through this process when I discovered the 1952 proof franklin bugs bunny. got in touch with Bill, he had the coin assigned its own fs number and sent it straight to PCGS for attribution.

E Z Est contains sulfuric acid and thiourea, which are eaters of metal. In the case of badly soiled or pvc damaged coins,I understand. It is best to dilute to 50% with distilled water.I suspect those dipped coins will come back details, cleaned,or not,you never know with TPG'ers.Good luck
Actually EZEST is awesome for silver in MS (or high AU). The coin needs to have the original striking layer (luster). Dipped correctly and it does not damage, and is not considered a "Cleaned" coin. You should go back and watch Daniel's video on how he dips using EZEST. Although not in keeping with the instructions... collectors will dilute EZEST (25%,50%75%) in order to conserve coins that are in worse condition. Of course, there is a big risk it may not turn out well -- even for people with experience. But many of those coins are just for collections and will not be graded.
Neither PCGS, NGC or ANACS wear mask or gloves when grading coins nor does any dealer when handling coins. Only reason people are wearing mask now is because of covid not the coins.

Don't forget your mask never talk over your coins...
Neither PCGS, NGC or ANACS wear mask or gloves when grading coins nor does any dealer when handling coins. Only reason people are wearing mask now is because of covid not the coins.
@@CoinHELPubuy the way your the one that told us that..
@@bobsgds I never told you to wear mask when handling coins. I mentioned not breathing or sneezing on them.
It positively is a good Idea !
@@bobsgds I don't agree. Decades of experience and shows and no one uses a mask. You just don't breath on them or sneeze on them.
If you send a coin into PCGS for “restoration”, can your coin still come back “details”?
@Joe Shmoe hi joe are you putting the Buffalo set together I've gone through a few of them specialized in Buffalo nickels for 35 years but now just stacking gold and silver I really miss coin collecting
