I finally was able to sell my old Canon Pro-100 about 2 months ago. Was frustrated by how frequently the heads clogged, particularly if I failed to use the printer for a few weeks (even using the print schedule with Q1). The price of the original Canon inks are so expensive, and I found refilling tanks with third party inks, plus dealing with chips to be very annoying. At 71, I certainly did not need so much complication in my life! I ended up buying an ET-3850 so I could print small 4x6 prints of our grandchild, which keeps me & my wife happy. I was pleasantly surprised with the Eco Tank system, and how inexpensive the inks are, as well as how many photos you can print on a set of ink bottles. And NO CHIPS!!! Did not take me long to upgrade the ET-3850 to an ET-8550. Right now I am very happy. Super contento con mi 8550! Glad to see you continue to help so many. Saludos!
I just got the 8550 a couple of days ago and am absolutely blown away by the color photo print quality from this 6-ink printer. Stunning. Can't wait to try some B&W prints. Love the ink tanks - so easy to fill.
Thank you for all your videos. You’ve taught this Air Force retiree a lot 😃. I was more than happy to send you a little 💵💵. I’m always looking to improve my prints…
I have a ET-7750 and I have had an X-Rite’s i1 Software professionally made profile for my 24" Ilford Galarie glossy paper. The results are excellent and the B+Ws are neutral. Even using cheaper glossy paper the results are really very good. I use it for A3 plain paper drawings, 600mm x 297mm panorama prints, A4 etc... I'm very pleased with it. (I do though, regularly dab the print head resting pad with soft tissue paper to prevent smudges.) I keep it completely covered all the time with a thin clear polythene sheet including the rear paper tray with A3 paper in, this keeps the dust out. I've had it about 4+ years and it's still producing excellent result, I use it a lot and I'm on only my second set of ink bottles and third service tank. I can't recommend this printer highly enough. It's well worth getting your printer profiled as it really does make so much difference. Sadly my Canon Pro 1 went into a skip, no one wanted it and I couldn't keep spending a fortune on ink tanks - big mistake buying it, but we all make mistakes.
Hola Jose! I was so happy when I found your videos on UA-cam. To make a long story short, I purchased an Epson ET 8550 because I create digital art and want to print 13x19 posters. I have tried PhotoShop and Adobe to print 13x19, but although I select Super B (A3) on the actual printer, that option does not show on my computer and I have no choice but to select A3 on the computer, it will only print 11x16.5. I love the quality of the prints, but I am so frustrated that I cannot print 13x19. Any help or advice you can offer would be so greatly appreciated. Mucha Gracias, Jose.
I have (2) Eco Tank 502 combo packs (T5021-4-SV) from an ET 4760 that I no longer need. My question is, will the ink that I have be compatible with the ET 552 ink if I decide to use them to refill the BK, C, M, Y in my new ET8550? I like your channel by the way.
Hello Jose, I'm using an old r2000 printer but frankly I do not print enough to keep maintaining a pigment printer. I'm considering a switch to either the xp-15000 with pc inks or the et-8500 with oem. The price is obviously quite different. I was wondering what you'd recommend for someone doing 2 or 3 prints a month?
As in changing out the maintenance box? That costs about $20 to change out and only needs changing once the ink collects for so long over the life of the printer. But Epson is top tier in printers and you should have no issues unless you break the printer yourself. Just got my 8550 today. It's a beauty.
Seriously considering getting this printer for my photos and using with my MacOS. I like my Canon Pro-100 which thanks to you I was able to configure and get good prints for the most part, but it's always getting something out of what I expect. Either blues, magenta, or greens... Its lack of consistency is making me want to sell it... Anyone else having problems of Canon Pixma Pro-100 printing pinks as muted purples using MacOS?
Yes. You can get the inks from www.precisioncolors.com but if you already have dye inks installed it will take a very long time before they reach the Printhead.
Go to the driver, printer properties, preferences, paper source, change AUTO to REAR PAPER FEEDER, select the appropriate document size, click APPLY then OK
yeah ink is what got me to buy one, and prints look amazing ...but you got to use good paper , use cheap paper and you get the cog wheels , and good luck finding 13x19 paper in your area , after spending money on other brand paper that did not work I'm a little worried of buying paper that is not Epson paper .
Please can you help me print something copied from WhatsApp? It is text sent to me by a friend. I copied it with the Snipping Tool and saved it in a file but after trying and trying and trying I cannot print it. I am using the rear paper holder where there are plenty of A4 sheets of copy paper but it will NOT print. Any ideas please?
I LOVE the Epson ET-8550! However, I just had an issue pop up. The output tray attempts to open, and does for about an inch, and the retracts back into the printer. Any thoughts? Thanks!!
This drove me crazy! I have had this happen a couple of times. The first time I tried forcing the tray and was terrified I would break the printer. I swore at the auto extender! Finally I shut down the printer, pulled the power cord and waited a minute to reset. I re-initialized the wifi, which I’m not sure was necessary. Started back up and sent a new print job. Tray worked perfectly. Please note: the tray would NOT extend when I hit the button on the interface I had to send a print job. 14:40

I like your information and you also look like my papa, who sadly just passed away a few months ago. I enjoy your tutorials.
Jose, you are a wealth of information. Thank you so much!

Curious whether 2y later any clogging issues have appeared.

Considering this printer. Does it brick after X number of cleaning cycles, like canon?

Jose can I print watercolour artworks directly and not editing in illustration
Are you willing to create custom icc profiles?
How much would you charge to have one made for Orajet 1917 inkjet printable vinyl (for the Epson 8550)?

Is there a possibility to get your profiles without having Facebook ☺️
Can this printer be used with pigment inks? If so, how do you use pigment inks with it?
Yes. You can get the inks from www.precisioncolors.com but if you already have dye inks installed it will take a very long time before they reach the Printhead.
@@cheo1949 Does it work well? If so I wonder why Epson does not make and sell pigment ink for it?
I just got the 8550 but I still can’t figure out how to have it default to the rear feed. Can you help or point me pretty please.
Go to the driver, printer properties, preferences, paper source, change AUTO to REAR PAPER FEEDER, select the appropriate document size, click APPLY then OK
you don't use Epson print layout ?
Do you know if you can print longer than the specified 19” if your software has the ability, as with photoshop?
Custom sizes can go up to 13"x78.7"

Do you have information on the Epson 8500
The only difference is the paper size. Letter size. Otherwise identical to the 8550.

Sorry, managed to get it done somehow.

Are the Claria inks for the 8550 of the same formula as those for the Epson XP15000.
