- Hello there ladies and gentlemen, heres a nice guide on how to flash stock rom using twrp.
In the past I have told people to only flash raw if you want to use stock rom.
However recently I was told that you can use the asus provided roms and flash then via twrp which is awesome so here is a lovely video showing you how.
I will link this video in my flashing custom roms videos since we need to flash lastest stock rom to use the custom roms properly.

Raw is fine, but normally it's only used when you can't get into twrp. Or kicking bootloader

I think its better to use raw firmware like in the other guides since it overrides everything. But you can try with this method and see if it works for you. I don't have a ten cent device so can't test it myself

Hello, how to verfiy if the new boot has secsessful booted, because you have reset facotry. so it can the new start boot coming from old stock rom and not from the new one??!!!
If you flashed twice in twrp successfully its impossible to be old boot

My real question is. If I already have the bootloader unlocked and I had to flash the stock rom with Xiaomi miflash. Can I only flash TWRP? Or do I have to do everything again and wipe my phone?
Na just follow this video and you will be on latest stock. Only use miflash if you are bricked

You might need to edit fingerprint manually after flashing. But it should be fully ww after flashing anyway

Hi there! I have an issue: when I connect my usb cable to my left side usb port, it says "unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed)". Theres another way to install twrp without the side port?
Hey, you need to install fastboot drivers. If you right click on that unknown usb in device manager and click update drivers, then select the option that says it will find it in windows update. Download the driver through windows update and it should be good to go.
But yea this is the only way to get twrp
@@TerminalHeatSink I already have the drivers installed and I've changed the rom a few times before. I dont think it's the cable I'm using, because I tested too, and its working properly. I believe the problem is with my USB port :(

Oh in that case, yea sounds like your side USB port is broken. If you are currently rooted with magisk, I believe it's possible to flash the twrp zip through magisk. Although I haven't tried, so it might cause a boot loop, which will be hard to fix without the side port
on the second flash attemp in openshell its stuck on waiting for any device
Make sure you are in fastboot

It's still the same process with the latest twrp just twrp ui is a bit different
Help! Ive done your first root video on android 10 and decided i wanna downgrade to android 9. Im on the 2nd flash stage and it says slot a in unbootable device will shutdown in 30s. Then ive tried booting it up and it booted. I havent done the 2nd flash yet, pls help

Yeah, that's what i did. And then, it just freezes to press power button to pause boot. So I try running fastboot boot twrp blabla.img then the slot a unbootable pops up

@@skyspects1211 you are probably using the wrong twrp.img. There is twrp pie for android 9 and twrp q for android 10
Please help me, first I did the process and get stuck in TWRP command powershell. I thought it was because my device is not unlocked the bootloader, but after I unlock the bootloader using official unlock from ASUS my phone couldn't be detected when I typed 'Fastboot.exe devices'. It keeps telling me to wipe and clear the partition, I didn't get it T_T......
Did you make it to twrp? Is it on the phone its telling you to wipe the partition or on the cmd on your pc?

Yea try flashing rom and factory reset. Sounds like some corruption in the rom settings data.

I don't have it either. First of all I don't even have rog 3, so please explain to me why would I have firmware for a phone that I don't have?

You need to plug the phone using the side USB port

@@Vishwas-ok4gd try installing adb and fastboot drivers. Or if you can see your phone in the computer try dragging the file into the phone storage and then you can click install in twrp and see if you can find it there

Only if you can't transfer by copy and paste. I showed adb push because for lots of people the phone doesn't mount so this way this guidd will work for everyone

You need to be in the same folder as where you have fastboot.exe

Hi Sir, I am really new in this field and was trying to get my Rog 2 into stock firmware as I bought it second hand and don't really know which version the previous buyer had installed and I want to update my device. All the time I try update it it says system update failed, your device is reverted into its original firmware. And when I am using your option its gives me an error saying failed due to Fastboot boot command is not available in locked devices. I really need your help. Please help.
You need to unlock the bootloader. Download the apk from Asus website and run it

Yea this will work fine. One thing though the second time you boot into twrp you will need to use twrp-pie.img

You can try sure. But there is a good chance you will need to factory reset to boot the rom

If your bootloader is unlocked this might bee easier. Sometimes Asus doesn't detect the update lol

Just flash the full rom in twrp. You can find the full rom on Asus website

You can jump to the latest if you want using the twrp method

You can by using magisk patched boot image
You're supposed to wipe system partition too right? You're just clearing data. It's better to install TWRP instead of booting to it, and wiping every partition before flashing stock for minimum bugs.
+rulingcs I'm just using the instructions given by custom rom dev. They say don't wipe system, idk you can wipe system if you want
@@TerminalHeatSink Yeah I understand and it's just weird. Idk why all the tutorials now lack wiping system. I remember it causing big time bugs in my old phone
@@deurel Wiping system messes with the new partition schemes. I tried wiping it on my ROG Phone 2 and came up with unbootable slot b kind of error. Had to boot into bootloader mode and flash Raw firmware.
my rog phone 2 suddenly turn off by itself and i cannot turn it on after that. so i did the factory reset but still cannot turn on my phone. it stuck on the logo screen when booting up. i want to try your method but when doing the fastboot.exe devices command my devices wont show up please help :(
You are probably missing adb and fastboot drivers. when the phone is in fastboot and connected to the pc. on the pc open device manager and look for a yellow mark, right click on it and select update driver then press let windows search for driver online. after it installs it reboot your pc

You need to unlock the bootloader using Asus apk

Nice video! I have a quick question, if I just want to do OTA update on stock ROM through TWRP, do I still need to wipe the data? The point is I want to keep the data for updates.
+Allen Li I don't think you can flash ota files using twrp ( the ones that are about 150MB ) you need to download the full rom ( about 2GB ) from Asus website and then flash it twice. You don't need to wipe data then.

Or use a usb otg with no computer at all
Well that will be difficult since we need to use Fastboot.exe
@@TerminalHeatSink I managed to go from Havoc back to stock only with a usb and no computer. From twrp format data and factory reset and then from the usb install stock file and twrp on both slots.

If you are already on stock you don't need to delete anything. If you are on custom rom then you need to delete everything including your browser history

yea you need to unlock your bootloader with asus app to flash using twrp.
If you can't start the phone, you will need to flash factory firmware in fastboot. These are different to what asus has on their website, you will need to get them from xda.
