Franklyn Leon "Frankie" Smith is an American funk musician and R&B/soul songwriter. He is best known for his 1981 single "Double Dutch Bus". With his 1981 single "Double Dutch Bus", Smith popularized a nonsensical form of slang, in which "iz" is placed in the middle of a word or the last letters of a word are replaced with "-izzle". The style today holds a place in popular slang.

I remember this song so intensely because at the time I was at the age of 24 yrs. This song and it's funky beat, possessed the ability to grow on you. I always believe that. Great times, I cherished with the beautiful music of that era.

Takes me back to them early 80's. I remember when this first came out.. This was a hit.. A jam still today for us "Grown Folks" these kids don't and won't understand it... But mine do.... Why...? Because I keep old and new school playing daily round the clock........ But what's sad.. Really said... This man made this song and it was a hit. Even made Billboard charts, R&B and more yet... he wasn't paid a single damn dime.. SMDH. He was 1 artist who made a great song and got screwed royally.. Check out that "UnSung" with Frankie Smith. It tells the whole story.. smdh. But to this day.. This a jam.. and I still bump on my cassette in my ride.. Yes.. I have cd, blutooth and all that.. But that front AUX...
