I am myself from Estonia, but live in London now. Take care.

We didn't merge with the Soviets. They moved their soldiers into our country. Killed and imprisoned our leaders and disbanded our military and said to the world that we "joined them". We fought back but tens of thousands of people were sent into Siberia inside animal trains, a lot of people(mostly children and old people) freezed and starved to death inside those wagons, and once they got to the end station they were put into forced labor and familiys were separated and they mostly never saw eachother again. And if you call that "merging" then i don't know what to say.
Estonia is praised for not having any casualties when we restored our independence in 1991. :) Unlike some other countries who had to fight their oppressors, Estonia sang itself free. Google: singing revolution.
Another misleading "fact" 4.36 - 4.44: Tallinn "became capital 1991 after the Soviet Union has been dissolved and Estonia became its own country." The Republic of Estonia was formed in 1918, not in 1991 "after the Soviet Union has been dissolved". Estonia regained its independence on 20 August 1991. The Soviet union was dissolved on 26 December 1991. Tallinn became official capital in 1918 and was also an official capital of Estonian SSR during the soviet occupation.
Something I find interesting about Estonia, are according to legend the Danish flag (Dannebrog) fell from the sky during the Battle of Lyndanisse in 1219, (present day Tallinn) when Denmark was leading a crusade against the people in Estonia. Also the Danes created the first real castle which was refered to "The Castle of the Danes" or Taanilinnus in Estonian, which might be where the name Tallinn originated. Its something that is taught in Danish schools and something we are proud of since we still use the flag. I knew the basic story of the name of Tallinn, but had to look up on the net for more facts, as I thought it was "Town of the Danes" So please dont rage if I got anything mistaken as I have a deep admiration of Estonia :-)

Some Estonian military were captured/forced to go to Russia. Some military units joined the Germans in the Estonia Brigade hoping to be supplied arms to fight the Russian invaders. Instead, they were sent to Czechoslovakia, captured and sent to concentration camps and copper mines to be worked to death. Estonia has a long history of being invaded. Russia has always wanted an ice free port in the Baltic and Estonia has always been in their cross hairs. Their worst fear is what happened in the Crimea, happening to them.

u were wrong in like the bigest thing in our history
When i told my friends im from estonia, it was sad to hear that they dont know what that country is
Another misleading "fact" 4.36 - 4.44: Tallinn "became capital 1991 after the Soviet Union has been dissolved and Estonia became its own country."
The Republic of Estonia was formed in 1918, not in 1991 "after the Soviet Union has been dissolved". Estonia regained its independence on 20 August 1991. The Soviet union was dissolved on 26 December 1991.
Tallinn became official capital in 1918 and was also an official capital of Estonian SSR during the soviet occupation.
im happy that people are doing videos about estonia because im estonian i can prove it tere olen eestlane and im finland too moi osaan puhuu tädä myös
Agreeing with Dima A. there... estonia was occupied by the USSR and forced to be part of the soviet union... what a weird factual mistake :(

I knew the basic story of the name of Tallinn, but had to look up on the net for more facts, as I thought it was "Town of the Danes"
So please dont rage if I got anything mistaken as I have a deep admiration of Estonia :-)
Tall means also stable in English and linn means town. So high likely it would be Stabletown also
Hi iam rajendar reddy from ku telengana India. I like nature of the Estonian.
Dude, maybe it wasn't the best idea for you to try to pronounce Suur Munamägi and Lahemaa... But the video did have a good introduction to the country.
Tema hääldust oli jah päris naljakas kuulda haha 😂😂😂
sjuur munamjaazi? mv
Spell those names in English !
Estonia was occupied by Russia and Estonia did not merge with Russia to fight the Germans. Germans tried to liberate Estonia.
we estonians have a hmm how do i say it... a music festival every 3-4 years its called laulupidu and its pretty cool... i sang there once
Wow,your great👍 keep that up.
I'm from BANGLADESH, Asia 🤗.I have never heard so much about Estonia. Such a beautiful country... 💝💝

eestlased?
OHJA al neckz matter

Russian isn’t a state language in Estonia. Its bad because 30% of people in Estonia are russians and their native language, ofc is russian. Discrimination is VERY BIG PROBLEM in Estonia.
Russian colonists are illegally brought to Estonia by Russian invaders and rapists of Estonian nation during Bolshevik occupation.

Probably their music. I enjoyed the holiday in Tallinn. But an amazing fact is their singer 'Lenna Kuurmaa' who also sings in the Estonian band 'Vanilla Ninja'.
The way you spelled Suur Munamägi was so funny... 😂 But at least I could understand you saying that
3:36 First mention of Tallinn in 1219
3:44 First appearance on a map in 1148
That sure makes sense...

Estonia didn’t merge with the Soviet Union, they were illegally occupied and absolutely hated this occupation.
The video makes it seem Estonia was scared of the Germans and worked alongside the Soviets, which is not true.
Estonia joined the EU on 1st of May 2004, not 2003, they had the referendum to join the EU on the 14th of September 2003.
Estonia fully uses the Euro nowadays
and some things were horribly pronounced lol
To speak Estonian - IS just for Estonian ! You Have to know some other Language / like English / to spell ! In English You say A / E / I - differently / just spell EESTI IN ENGLISH / and Ask someone how Does IT sound ?

I think it's a bit funny how you show the image of a bog first and say that people might imagine Estonia like that but actually its not like that and actually its beautiful... :O In fact Estonians are really proud of their bogs and love the beauty of the nature in Estonia! That's exactly what Estonia is like!
Bogs and mires are important in Estonian folklore, and they are seen as places of of mystery and peace. They cover fifth of the mainland area in Estonia
I really enjoyed this. Thanks!
It's excellent dude.. Good job.. Keep it up.. And thank you
