@@sriramramamoorthy-v5g you are wrong. The difference is the release year. GX-9 was released in 1986, CY-91 in 1989, CT-93 in 1991 and CT-95 in 1994. Every time it was a TOTL deck.
@hifirulezzz as per this video at least it's v difficult to say which one is better, according to the sound, all the three units sound their best. Which ever deck has longest reliability will be the winner.
I had a CTS830s once. I genuninely couldn't believe the sound. It just didn't sound like a cassette deck, with the bass going right down and everything else just rock solid.
You forgot about CT-93. Moreover CT-91a has wider frequency response like Mark II version of CT-939. Personally I prefer CT-A9D with logo PIONEER in top left corner and solid, silver coasters :). Beautiful deck with precise meter level

All 3 tape recorders are excellent, but the CT-A9 / A9D / A9X is the best of them all. It should also be taken into account that the output analog audio frequency signal in both CT-91a and T-1100S (CT-95) contains an active circuit that intervenes in the high frequency range of Dolby HX-Pro, which modifies and colors the sound image. The CT-A9 (fortunately) does not have such a circuit, so its sound is more natural and lifelike.
Thanks, CT-91 has a wider stage, which is why it sounds more open, but that is the manufacturer's trick, the original sound doesn't have that open stage. Similar to Sony high-grade models.
@@hifirulezzz Thanks my friend, it s always good to learn ! Keep going with your fantastic videos, you are a source of inspiration ! your are making history with those legendary machines! Bravo to you, keep on going !!! 🙂
To me the differences were pretty defined. On the first test, simple playback, CT 91 was last with less highs and muddled tone. The A95 sounded more precise, more open. The A9X was a good step up though, precise and also more depth. A very high quality sound. But, during recording, the CT95 was suprisingly bad, especially comparing to others. CT91 was this time a very nice surprise, sounding very open and punchy. The A9X again, clear winner, maybe due to a higher signal to noise ratio, the cleanest sound and more depth. Such great machines.
im all my wits end perhaps the ct 5 is the bet buy by the long chalk, but the price is leg and arm,an the deck in the middle with very distict sound they are almost the same sounding my congratulation for this sophisticated gear!
Really amazing comparison. Incredibly interesting...also how the 91 shapes and changes the sound... I think i read that you did some mods to the ct95 aka 1100s to improve performance...i'm interested what these are exactly as i'm looking into buying one of those...if it's not a big secret😊 will a stock ct95/1100s stand a chance against the other decks?? Coming from a very simple 90s harman kardon deck i also looked at the hk cd491 as it has a similiar sankyo transport like the dragon...what do you think about this deck?... My highest respect sir for your videos and the craftmanship you perform and share with us!! Cheers and best regards!
All improvements are in my videos. Dragon has Nakamichi's original transport, not Sankyo. Deck selection will in high respect depend on what sound is important to you. Nakamichi decks sound warm. HK will be clear but flat. Pioneer 1100 is super digital sound, very precise. It is a personal choice of what you expect from the deck.
@hifirulezzz Hello. Highly apreciate your quick response! Soundwise I'm actually looking for a precise and clear sounding deck. High resolution and high quality recordings matter to me...about nakamichi: I looked at the cr7 and the zx9 and then at recent prices😄 then somebody suggested the cr4 with it's all manual calibration to me but as the cr7 to my information is the only nak with modern equalization I got scared away again from the cr4... Apart from sound I also look for a reliable and durable machine which is rather service friendly...this is a big factor for me because I'm not planning to work on it myself or have a project with it...and the budget is unfortunately also not unlimited...if it was I probably already had a cr7😄
@hifirulezzz ps: will check out your videos on the 1100 later with pleasure!! Like I already did with the big maintenance video on the cr7...amazing work sir!! Hands down!!
Thank you very much for your Suggestion... This particular Deck unfortunately seems not to be that Common in my area...but will check for sure... Your thoughts on the nakamichi cr4? Have you worked on some of them? Cheers and best regards
Tenendo in considerazione la configurazione hardware che avevano i 3 registratori al momento del rilascio del video, vince sul suono il CT-91,sull'estetica il CT-A9X
As a collector I will tell you that the CT-A9 is the best deck pioneer ever made. Its recording and playing ability are top notch!
Agreed
CT-91 sounds so good!- you do amazing work! for the $ the CT-91 wins detail is best - excellent work and testing as always
Check my last upgrade, now it sounds even better. The best stage I have ever heard from a cassette deck. Better than Akai 9100ev.
Word around is that, the 95 and 93 are top of line not the 91, is that statement true,

CT-A9X is my choice , have a Beautiful example in Excellent working order, Love it!
I believe than winner is CT 91. Next is CT A9X and last CT 1100 S.Thank for video

СТ-А9 is the best and it has direct drive, CT91 is one of my favorite too. CT-95 has more cold and synthetic sound.
Wanted to say like your videos, 80's best years.
All three decks are magnificent and CT-A9 i believe is the best. Next is CT-1100S and CT-91 comes third.

Top decks,as Big AIWA also. All these and few more, can blow all nakaas out of an bond.
With 0 bias I would have to say the a 9 is far superior :)

What playlist did you use? Só I can replicate with my CT-S670D and CT-S730

Good morning. If it's not a secret, what specific microphones do you use? and is it one or two microphones during this recording?
iPhone 13 Pro, it has 3 or 4 mics.
However in this particular case sound was recorded over RCA cables with Tascam DA-3000
hi , i have a question , i wanna buy a Pioneer CT-960 but i don't see alots of reviews . I dont know if its a 2 or 3 heads.
The Pioneer CT=960 is a 2 head deck. The only thing going for it is it has DBX... 15,000hz limited upper range. I would pass on that one.
CT-A9X has nothing in between (like the rest). A pure sound.
91 has more high frequencies and A9X has softer sound than others. Maybe A9X sounds a bit quieter
A9 sounds softer with much more bass and a more natural sound. 1100 is just similar to a CD player. And 91 has a wider stage.
Top deck sounds the best..
I prefer the CT-91 with metal. I used to have one. Still kicking myself for selling it.
CT-91 colors the sound like my xk-009 and ad-f660 before. No idea why. My cr-4 stays true to the source. Like you

Мне Pioneer зашёл лучше всех 👍🏻 !!!
а вам какая больше понравилась по звуку?
CT-91
CT-A9X best sound
Супер!!!
Zajebiste perelki.
CT- 91 и CT-95 Детальнее и лучше контролируют бас (более собранные). Середина информативнее. 91 красивый верх.
the middle one is slightly better, stronger bass ... the CT-91 is slightly nicer but the CT-95 is very close behind
CT 1100 sounds right....9x had some equalization
THE BEST from far away ,it woud be CTA9 , i knew that before i watched your video .......same type of sensust head is used on dragon
@@hennessy4666 Dragon has Crystalloy head, Nakamichi has never used Sendust as a material. A9 sounds bold but way less details as others.
ct 91
CT 91 is impressive, sounds almost digital. CT A9X is 2. CT95 is 3.
91 is my favorite out of all three

Не ты, а вы. Очень серьезно. Сначала послушай а потом пиши.
CT 91 is more nice detailed
Нижняя лучше всех звучит
Для меня средняя в стопке дэка по звуку лучшая,более детальный звук.
