I grew up playing with Jack Wilson’s sons TJ and Tony in Gulkana. Jack always had a hunting cap on and a pipe hanging out his mouth. Chuck McMahon was my childhood hero. I always wanted to be like him. Lots of respect for all of the Ellis’s also. Great video. I was at the Gulkana Air Show the year this was made and Chuck won. Think he might have won the flour bombing also that year.
I have a lot of time in Super Cubs, love them, they are my favorite small airplane to fly. But for the life of me, I was never able to Spin a Super Cub, a J-3 yes, but not a Super Cub. I tried everything I could think of.
Finally the algorithm brought me to this wonderful piece of aviation history 🙏

Remarkable point of view for that thing on the propeller changing pitch said by Rodger, remarkable indeed.
so much good information in the two videos in this series. any new or aspiring Cub owners will do well to take this information onboard.
Thank You BFR-Master!!! Very Nice ! Many Thanks for posting ! Very appreciated. If you come to AK I can take you flying ! Best Regards, Lars
Great look at the early guys that paved the way!
Excellent training video....
“The Cub will take ice …” LOL These guys redefined “risk management”. True professionals.
Love the Super Cub, have over 4000 hours in them, mostly towing gliders. Have towed gliders to 15,000 feet.
Jim Foreman What reason would a glider need to be towed to 15,ooo ft ?????
In some locations in the mountains, the bottom of standing lee wave lift is even with the top of the peak generating it.
that would have taken a while to get there ;)
Another mystery of life...where did those dislikes come from?!
There’s always a bad apple or two in the basket.
It takes all kinds to make a world. Go figure?
