- Eastbound on the SD&A(E) and entering Campo yard limits at milepost 65. SDNX Coaster 2103 makes its inaugural run in San Diego’s mountain countryside. The F40PHM-2C locomotive is MU’d with Southern Pacific 3873. 2103 serves as a control unit while 3873 provides power. The unit was acquired by the museum in August of 2022 after a 4 1/2 year acquisition effort. A historic day for railfans and volunteers of the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum!

At this time SP3873 will be primary power each weekend. The use of Coaster 2103 as an NPCU will be based on volunteer availability. We have a small but very determined group of volunteers working hard to restore SP3709 and USAF2104. We’ll do our best to get 2103 out on the rails periodically and will announce it on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
@@psrmrailway I know that I asked President Stephen Hager about making 2103 self operational, and he said “that’s more of a legal question,” which basically means they need a waiver from the CARB.
When was 2103 converted to an NPCU by chance?
Her prime mover was drilled and so was the HEP generator. Hence she's a dead unit for now.
