This was the last of many times I saw them, with a best friend who recently died. Truly one of the best bands, and especially concert bands, there ever was. Rest in peace, everyone who has since passed. We love you!
This is one of my favorite songs of all time and I can’t believe how Warren and Derek made it their own.Incredible guitarists jamming together with so much heart and soul ❤
Derek makes anything better. Warren is just warren. Shouldn't pimp himself out so much. Might appreciate his talent more if I had time enough to miss it between shows
Sometimes a song just hits all the right emotional buttons and it brings me to tears. This one did that for me. Beautiful job on the Van Morrison classic.
Being from the NYC area I was lucky enough to have seen them do this twice over the years with The Jukes horn section from Southside Johnny's band . That really puts this cover on a whole other level . It was beautiful thing to hear 🙂
The ABB could take any song and make it their own.Derek and Warren always play off each other so well but in this, their interaction is of another dimension.
👍 Cover of one of my all time favorite songs! I never thought I’d hear it done as well by anyone other than Van’s original. Then I found Zac Brown’s ‘Free, Into the Mystic’ to be 👏 too, and just as good as his. THIS ONE came as a complete surprise to me - not being a big fan of the Allman Brothers, I was pleasantly surprised to see Haynes and Trucks on stage performing it! I’m 70ish now, and went to TTB’s concert a couple years ago, and Derek and Susan were amazing (as were the others in the band)!
UPDATE 7/2/24: Have since ‘discovered’ Paul Kype and Texas Flood, and his/their cover of THIS song is awesome as well! 👏 to them and all their others too!
Awww, so purdy. Ran across this while missing my mom who passed in January. Watching this made me think of all the AB family folks who passed and how much Derek, Jaimo, Warren and Otiell are missing their loved ones. In so short of time we lost Butch Trucks, Greg Allman, Colonel Bruce and Kofi Burbridge. Such love here. Worked local crew backline at a Dead and Co show not long after Greg's passing. Can't imagine how Otiell shone that bright that evening. I'd have been a wreck. God bless all!
Such a good cover...different enough from the original to be interesting and all the playing and singing is perfect. The original will always be one of my all-time favorite songs, but it's impressive when a cover can be sooooooo good. Just sets my mind at ease, like the original.
This is one of the best songs ever...sure lotta ppl feel that way..interpretive too. The older I get, my take on this has changed some. This is a hard song to cover, prob why noone does. Nothing like the original tho...and I love the Allman's like I love the Beatles or Stones. I am sure if I was hearing them do this live I woulda melted bc it is what it is and They are Them. This was a beautiful instrumentation and jam that took off slow an sweet and got deep, as the interplay btwn Derek and Warren went on effortlessly. Warren did his best to put the Van in it...noone could take this on but them...I just heard the original , went hete and switched gears. By the end I was satisfied. I saw u guys 8 times, right in front and met a few of u, even Gregg, a few times. U are all sweet, kind ppl. At least u were to me. Much peace and love, miss u
Great interpretation from a great band of a great song by a great artist and songwriter. On this one, Butch Trucks (RIP) is noticeably sensitive to the dynamics. One of the most underrated rock drummers ever. Play on, Butch!
Completely agree !! Butch has been one of my favorite drummers ever. His deep and thick contribution to ALLMANS' agressive live performance has to be appreciated more and more, I feel.
I'm with you to an extent. I like a more subtle approach for slide players. If it's too busy it can a little irritating on the ears. Derek is a master, but it would be a better band if he would put the slide in his pocket and finger pic a little more often.
@@bluesrock1 Yeah at a certain point it does become a novelty. I'm a finger picker myself so I can appreciate the the complexities of layered harmonies etc. I watched this five times before I realized that Derek was finger picking with his left hand 😂
ABB is a one of the greatest bands ever assembled, that also had the good fortune to replace former band members with just high quality musicians. Having said that, this was s a signature Van Morrison song and no other version sounds right to me.
Ohbyeah...oh yes..Derek is a God amongst men. He was a lucky child ..Butchs' little boy was already skilled at eight years old..the soul in those fingers. Oh thank you for your voice and your fingers dearest brother Warren. And for all you have ever done. I always secretly dreamed you took me for your bride. You've got so much soul . Love you my brother. You've given so much of yourself to the musical elements I believe you have become one. Thank you. My love always, Bella bb
Going to totally have to listen to this song over and over when in the Bahamas it will definitely fit in and hopefully meet some new people friends along with it.
Totally love the ocean and this song makes it feel like everything I ever have liked about it I try every summer to go to the ocean just to hear the waves and the calm nights are so amazing and I will listen to this song the next time I am there awesome just simply amazing Great Job Warren lifted my time left on earth hearing this song BEAUTIFUL!! ♥️♥️♥️
I won't bother to thank you guy for TTB and G Mule right now although I could send the day doing just that. Thank you for giving an old southern boy 10 years of ABB .You have no idea the joy you have created. Extending the life of that library and giving us butch and co for a while longer is a life well done in itself.
Swirling skirts... Thank you, Mr. Haynes I wish I knew then what I don't want to know now. I wish you all the very best. Continue spreading Music 🎶 healing, it is! I am very grateful for souls that are genuine. OM 🕉
Good assessment Roxanne. Funny how the original Mystic on Astral Weeks is quite a short song, yet the ABB extended solo treatment here sits comfortably along side it. Kind of like a song they might have written themelves almost. Good music is timeless that way.
Nine and a half minutes of heaven on earth. Thanks!
Grief 2024 frickin beautiful the memories I'm 68
Was there that night at the Orpheum Theater... we were not expecting this song at all. When it was over we just looked at each other and went.... Wow!
If I were there, I’m sure I would have wept.
Wow is about all I probably get, if anything.
This was the last of many times I saw them, with a best friend who recently died. Truly one of the best bands, and especially concert bands, there ever was. Rest in peace, everyone who has since passed. We love you!
I listen to this almost every day
Takes one to heaven... the interaction between Warren and Derek is on a different level...
Two fantastic combinations in one band (Duane & Dicky), what are the chances?
It’s a family thing
This is one of my favorite songs of all time and I can’t believe how Warren and Derek made it their own.Incredible guitarists jamming together with so much heart and soul ❤
Derek makes anything better. Warren is just warren. Shouldn't pimp himself out so much. Might appreciate his talent more if I had time enough to miss it between shows
Love it ♥️♥️♥️🎶🎶🎶
@@dwaynebryant2355 you should take a break then
I've listened to this a hundred times or more! It's phenomenal
So BEAUTIFUL! I want this song played at my funeral.
Me too. My wife's mom side is supposedly gypsy. As soon as I heard this song, I fell in love with i
I played it at my Mom's
Praise God! Holy Jesus blow your foghorn and call us home, all together in love!
Never get tired of this song especially when the brothers do it.
I can't stop listening to this, it's beyond words how deep this touches. Incredible!
I agree. They did a great job with Van's already beautiful song.
Warren Hayes and Derick Tucks - 40 tons of talent in a soda bottle - no comparison to anyone else - unique and compelling.
Perfection together.
Allman brothers, rock that Gypsy soul, one of favorite bands of all time.
The best live band ever for my money..bluesy, soulful, improvisational,..just the best groove n feel ever when they were really on, like here..
All the stars are shining bright, still want to give Oteil props here. I wish Duane, Barry, Greg and Butch were still with us.
Sometimes a song just hits all the right emotional buttons and it brings me to tears. This one did that for me. Beautiful job on the Van Morrison classic.
This just gets better and better every time I hear it.
Being from the NYC area I was lucky enough to have seen them do this twice over the years with The Jukes horn section from Southside Johnny's band . That really puts this cover on a whole other level . It was beautiful thing to hear 🙂
Van Morrison. One of the great song writers of personal emotional experience,
The ABB could take any song and make it their own.Derek and Warren always play off each other so well but in this, their interaction is of another dimension.
Absolutely right about Derek and Warren... amazing musicians.
Yes they are amazing, but this song is from another dimension! Thank guys and thank you van
I think their original two guitarists were OK at it too….
You absolutely nailed that! they bring something to the party that no one else has.
👍 Cover of one of my all time favorite songs! I never thought I’d hear it done as well by anyone other than Van’s original. RIP dad. May your spirit travel the sea of stars in a vast and beautiful cosmos…
One of the greatest and brightest cover of Van Morrison's excellent song !!!
Wow just wow! Great song, great band, great performance! WOW!
Mister Haynes is a superb musician as is everyone else on that stage !!
Warren and Derek in perfect harmony. Great cover, Allman Bros. at their very best.
Don't think it's possible for music to get any better than this!
Totally agree. Derek's slide is unbelievable!
That's right the Allman brothers were the best
💯✌️
What incredible music! I’m sure Van is tickled seeing Warren and Derek’s rendition.
Beautiful!
Panic does a heartjerking version of this if you are ever lucky enough to be in the crowd
Love Van Morrison, but this Version is just great .

This has a sweet sweet southern SOUND nice brothers ✌
Yup you know this is a sweet version yes sir ree
Derek never LET'S me DOWN he SOMTHIN else man
Go get em boys
Two masterful musicians working very hard to get that sound just right...
Pure talent
Oteil and Derek? I guess Warren wasn't bad either. :)
Warren Haynes’ vocal cover of this song is the best I’ve heard. There are others on UA-cam, but no better
What an incredible version of this song Derek is amazing always so tasteful playing
Such a good cover...different enough from the original to be interesting and all the playing and singing is perfect. The original will always be one of my all-time favorite songs, but it's impressive when a cover can be sooooooo good. Just sets my mind at ease, like the original.
The most perfect version - love Warren's vocals here.
GREAT job with one of my all time favorite Van Morrison songs .
That six-string bass sounds really good in this song. Actually, the whole band is great!
Hell yes it is !
This is one of the best songs ever...sure lotta ppl feel that way..interpretive too. The older I get, my take on this has changed some. This is a hard song to cover, prob why noone does.

I love ABB and their extended fam. Great comment. I would say that Greensky Bluegrass does a nice cover. TC
You’re soooo lucky to have met them
Great interpretation from a great band of a great song by a great artist and songwriter. On this one, Butch Trucks (RIP) is noticeably sensitive to the dynamics. One of the most underrated rock drummers ever. Play on, Butch!
Totally agree. Butch is all over this. Incredible drummer. Very much underrated. Top 10 drummers all time
Agreed...esp re Butch(RIP indeed)
Perfect drumming throught ...esp the final flourish
Completely agree !! Butch has been one of my favorite drummers ever. His deep and thick contribution to ALLMANS' agressive live performance has to be appreciated more and more, I feel.
No Doubt
My good Lord!!! Hallelujah!!
Look out, Van! This is killer!
As a guitarist, I never really liked slide guitar, but these tones are so emotional. It's just beautiful.
I'm with you to an extent. I like a more subtle approach for slide players. If it's too busy it can a little irritating on the ears. Derek is a master, but it would be a better band if he would put the slide in his pocket and finger pic a little more often.

I can see why you never liked it. It is so hard to do.
4:48-5:10 is one of my favorite guitar runs ever
Can’t get enough of this 💕🎶💕🎶💕

Hell yeah classic Guitars outstanding Warren nails vocals band fantastic....
Absolute brilliance on one of my favorite songs! Expertly played and sung.
This is one of the best songs. I love it. It brings me way back to 1970’s
I’m pretty sure Warren can sing literally anything and it’s going to be amazing.
So perfect, Warren and Derek do such a great job. I love Van The man, but never heard this song better
One of my favorite Songs and Favorite Music Bands!!!!!!! ❤
Doing Van the Man proud! That bass player and I were both into the mystic on this. Very well done.
The Bass player is Oteil Burbridge. If you liked his work here, try this one out. He totally drives this song! ua-cam.com/video/Zoo4L5KR7cM/v-deo.html
Yet another reason why they are legends!
Love that tune! 👍
