I am from Los Angeles, and I can honestly say I am upset I have not heard Northwest Hip-Hop sooner. This is an excellent piece of music. It follows the radio friendly and conscious paradigm that I see that Seattle is known for.
south end, c.d., downtown, capital hill, beacon hill, new holly, bell town, west seattle, north seattle, u-district, and anybody far and in between stand up! Seattle music y'all
I havent heard a beat so vivid and mind-trancing since pete rock and c.l smooth's "T.R.O.Y". And Ish, who was originally with the Digable Planets back in the 90's, its dam good to see him. It's always good to see an old school mc that still got it. And here winter is again: it truly is the "therapy season".
Welcome to seattle where the sun dont shine, unless its summer time, hard to leave when i fell in love with the vibe, some of us complain about the rain others play in it all day
Vitamin D & Tribal laid the foundation for damn near everything thats going on with Hip Hop in Seattle right now... C-Note & Narcotik have the dopest album made in Seattle that never dropped... Maneak Tubman, that's the homie! ...and i've been waiting to hear Ish rap about Seattle since listening to Digable Planets in middle school!!! classic.
Amazing... I grew up with all two these superstars.. hand in hand.. I know alot of well know stars in Seattle.... The music scene in Seattle is mean.. Grammys all day long.. Bruce Lee Quincy Jones Jimmy Hendrix Ray Charles Ish butler Jake... We stay winning Mix alot and many more..
Best thing about this video: Jake One is in the video very unassumingly giving all homage to the City. And it's rare to see a collaboration where everyone kills it. And they nailed it. This song and video will forever be a hit.
I'm not from Seattle but I like the music (I'm from NY), much love to the city of Seattle for stayin' true to itself. & shout out to the Mariners too (1 of my 4 favorite baseball teams).
Stevens played TE for the Seattle Seahawks at one time. The lyric in which Vitamin D cautions those visiting Seattle not to "lose [their] grip like Jeremy Stevens" makes reference to Jeremy's issues catching/securing the football during his tenure with team. The Seahawks were one of my rooting interests then, and those ties helped me make the connection. However, it was a good question, as you were most likely not the only one wondering about the statement being made there.
Much respect to you home, I live in Everett on Evergreen Way and I do get what your saying! SPREAD THE MESSAGE AND KEEP GOIN ON MAN YOULL GET TO THE TOP!!!
Hip hop waz a great art form b4 rappers chacin money n singin about hw great rappers themselves r. Dis song remindz me dat tha spirit ov Hip Hop is still alive..
People talking about Seattle rap, if your not from Seattle, and don't like it, don't listen to it. Seattle has its own flow and beats. Not any generic 808's and claps.
Just watched the new Seattle episode of Swamp stories, had to come back to this jon right here. My favorite Seattle song of all time. Ish hard af in this one. I swear I yell the line "when the chips crash stand yo ass up and fight" every time I hear this song. Showin love from city, Viz Valley 415
I love the references in Seattle hip hop- Sir mix alot at the beginning, and Fatal Lucciauno at 3:55 when Ish is talking about Cherry St. thats Seattle af lol
Is this tha only video Vitamin D is seen rapping in? Him and Maine were crazy dope but never dropped any REAL albums (excluding tha old stuff, Ghetto Children, the compilation album and "Table Mannerz"). Tha Note (C-Note from Narcotik) is crazy nice! And of course P Ray, Nate Jack, Bruce Leroy (Tacoma WA), Alana, Dice, Just Moni, tha list goes on. Seattle is exceptional.
Man I heard this album back when it dropped, but I never saw this video. The Sir Mix-A-Lot cameo was hilarious. And I have to agree with everybody else in the comments from years ago, yes this is real hip hop. And Seattle's still got it alive and well
as someone from the East, I can't stand "anthem songs"... but if there's a way to do it, it's exactly the way you do it in this vid: show your hood, make the song undeniable, and just do your Hip Hop, regardless if it's about "banging" or "cooking crack"... cats rep wrong, and this was a good look. Dude @ 2:18 destroys it... that's the most memorable verse on this whole song.
15 years later, this song still slaps. Maybe even more so now with the erosion of hip-hop. In the rotation on the regular.
Truth. Just now found it I'm glad I did
Don’t know where I found it but this has been on my playlist for 10 years. I’m from the east coast too!
This song is timeless!
I know that's right
This song is the definition of Hip Hop
Totally agree with you

This video make me proud to be born and raised in Seattle! Nuff respect due to the homie Jake One.
I am from Los Angeles, and I can honestly say I am upset I have not heard Northwest Hip-Hop sooner. This is an excellent piece of music. It follows the radio friendly and conscious paradigm that I see that Seattle is known for.

Still one of the best songs ever
Seattle seem to be a united hip hop community.
ruffdraft it is but it was closer at this time. It’s definitely not the same anymore.
Ish hovered over that beat
As good as this track already is, I reckon it must feel even better to come from Seattle while listening:)
It's honestly kind of sad to watch. Seattle has changed so much and the central district is nothing like it was. Rip Seattle.
r sad That's the truth. I was surprised a few weeks ago when I went to Garfield HS for an event, alot has changed.
And 100,000 white male bland amazon nerds have moved here since 2009
Dylan H C I wanna die

Sooooo funky! Jake gets his soul straight from the local food.
as someone from the East, I can't stand "anthem songs"... but if there's a way to do it, it's exactly the way you do it in this vid: show your hood, make the song undeniable, and just do your Hip Hop, regardless if it's about "banging" or "cooking crack"... cats rep wrong, and this was a good look.
