About the group:
Min Yoon-gi (born March 9, 1993), known professionally by his stage names Suga and Agust D, is a South Korean rapper, songwriter and record producer. Under Big Hit Entertainment, he debuted as a member of the South Korean boy band BTS in 2013. His first solo mixtape, Agust D, was released in 2016 and re-released in 2018 to digital download and streaming platforms, reaching number three on Billboard's World Albums Chart. In 2020, he released his second solo mixtape, D-2; it peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard 200, number seven on the UK Albums Chart, and number two on Australia's ARIA Album Chart.
Suga released his debut solo album, D-Day, in 2023. It debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200, tying him with BTS bandmate Jimin as the highest-charting South Korean solo artists of all time. A full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association, Suga has songwriting and production credits on over 150 songs, including Suran's "Wine", which peaked at number two on the Gaon Music Chart and won Best R&B at the 2017 Melon Music Awards.

Trigger warning. He made a trilogy of three mvs daechwita, haegeum and amygdala. But amygdala can be quite hard to watch especially for the tragedy you recently experienced. Just so you know. I agree that is Amygdala is hard to watch, but if you take the sequel like this 1.Amygdala, 2.Daechwita, 3.Haegeum, then it will help you to walk away your sorrow like Yoongi had experienced it and get over it. Take me for example, I did cry watching Amygdala but I also feel relief after tears. Anyway, my condolences to Cedric's lost. Pls stay strong, stay healthy and Stay Gold.
im sorry for your loss. i love how you responded to Suga's music and music videos. suga, wrote, composed and produced Haegeum with no external help ( he always writes his raps, sometimes he might have a co-producer) , he also came up with the music video concept. so many choices were made by Suga. this is a trilogy which others have voiced here already. suga is the quiet genius of BTS. he allows others to shine and hes content with just creating music. hes a magnificent human being who has been through a lot. Amygdala is the last MV of the trilogy so it may be hard for you to watch just yet. but its magnificently produced too
A couple of details I’ve noticed after watching this too many times…
1. When Suga is walking through the bad guy lair in the beginning, a man is crouched talking on the phone. He is calling the other Suga (it’s not clear to me which persona is which in this one so I am referring to them both as Suga). Suga nods to him on the way out which implies a deal same as the nod to the butcher in the market in Daechwita who is also the executioner who later frees him. That same guy he nods to is later the one drowning him in the barrel but is also presumably the one who put the gun there so a big parallel with Daechwita in terms of how the betrayal was executed.
2. In the end when Suga gets out of the cop car he is carrying a jacket which I think is the jacket the police chief Suga was wearing earlier. So Suga has not just killed him but has taken his coat, possibly implying he has taken over his role.
I agree with the person who mentioned that Amygdala is a lot emotionally and to heed the trigger warnings. Maybe plan to watch all three together in sequence sometime when you feel ready. Watching them one after the other helps connect the dots. Yoongi said he had the plot of all three in mind from the beginning and that they are meant to be connected. The behind videos of these also contain interesting context.

Thanks for noticing that Suga walks into the noodle shop carrying the policeman’s jacket. I noticed it too but no one else has noticed or explained it. I feel vindicated!!!
Some extra info for you, the initial Asian Word characters in the beginning is “解禁” which is an acient Chinese words (both Taiwan and Hong Kong are still using) which means Unbanned or revoke what is prohibited, so in korean "Haegeum" may have double meanings, the musical instrument and unbanned. Which makes a lot of sense in his Trilogy, he finally liberated himself.
The chopsticks mirror the 2 strings of the haegum. Suga taking down a music industry that keeps rejecting them as 'not real artists'.
Yoongi is a musical genius. There are so many layers to his music/MV's. Someone else already commented about the trilogy, 'Daechwita', 'Haegeum' & 'Amygdala'. They also gave a trigger warning for 'Amygdala' & I agree. It's intense. I don't know if you know this or not, but knowing, or remembering, will help you understand the visuals & symbolism in the MV.
Yoongi was injured in an accident that occurred in 2012 while he was doing his delivering job. He injured his shoulder but did not tell the company about it. He was in pain for years before he finally got surgery to fix it in 2020. He also talked about dealing with depression.
In Daechitwa there was the Mad King and the Good Rebel. In those lyrics both characters rap the angry defiant boastful lyrics, but Rebel Agust D the prisoner raps “I got everything I wanted, what more will make me feel contented? I wanted clothes, then money, then goals, what’s next? Here comes my reality check, there’s nowhere higher. I only looked up and now I want to look down and put my feet on the ground.” He has described the Mad King as his own anger and greed that motivated him to achieve great heights, but finding himself at the wobbly top, now he wants to feel grounded. The Rebel kills the King, Yoongi kills his darker motives.
In Haegeum, the same characters are back, but now the Mad King is the Bad Cop and the Good Rebel is Robin Hood, shifting Daechitwa’s personal power struggle to a societal conflict of corruption and conscience. The cop’s scar is lighter, but the Robin Hood character has none at all. It seems like the good guy wins again here, but there’s a sense that it’s never over, that these opposing forces - in Yoongi and in society - will be hunting and destroying each other throughout time. These two will surely meet again. In the final frame, eating with the red chopsticks he previously killed with, it’s as if he’s saying something about the instruments of death and life: they’re the same. His hair hangs over his eye in the same placement as the scar. Maybe the good guy is still kinda bad. Maybe in this world even the good guys are compromised. Maybe we all are.
Amygdala is the origin story of the scar. It’s references events in his personal life that caused him to be “scarred”, to become angry, and to find direction and imperative in greed for success, recognition, and material goods to manage that pain. As mentioned, it’s a tough watch. It’ll be there when you’re ready. There’s a postscript to Amygdala; the final moments of his final August 6 concert in Seoul, wrapping up his world tour. From there, the whole storyline pitches back on itself, and there are new revelations and connections.
It’s honestly masterful.

Brilliant analysis. I loved this reaction. At some point you need to watch amygdala that explains how the scar represents his trauma that he has to battle against mentally in addition to the other things brought up in the first two video of the trilogy. It will be difficult for you so maybe watch it on your own first before doing a reaction breakdown. I have lost all my family to early death except my younger brother so I really identified with amygdala on a deep and personal level since that pain really resonated with me. I broke down and ugly cried all the way through it. But it is my favorite agust d song. I am so sorry for your loss. Nobody can truly know exactly what you are going through but I definitely understand loss and it is very difficult. Make sure you have someone you can talk to about it. I didn't and then had to go through a few years of therapy. Hang in there and definitely check out avust d's concert. Genius = Min Yoongi/Suga/Agust D. Raw, honest, talented, amazing. And to the uniformed BTS "just the latest "boy band" I can only shake my head as to what they have missesd. Yes Suga was my bias "wrecker" for a long time, until he completely WRECKED me. Can't wait for you to do part three "Amygdala", and there is no MV but "Snooze" deserve listen. 💜

His story boards for how to tell a story in and are some of the most memorable. His acting is also phenomenal and we wish he’d ever do a full bad guy role.

It's his truth and it's emotionally dark... but if you know about what he staged at his last D-Day concert in Seoul... it has a happy ending in real life... (*spoiler: After he wave goodbye to the fans... THE DOOR appeared and he opened it... freeing himself from his heartbreaking memories that trapped him... and left a message to the fans that he told himself on the screen after he left... Loved your analysis! When I first heard this song, i had heard on twitter or somewhere that haegeum meant lifting a ban, so with that in my brain I didnt really stop to think about the instrument. Your parallels between the instrument and the mv were really interesting, especially the two strings/one voice concept.

I've seen someone warn you about Amygdala and i have to agree with them (there's a warning directly on youtube before you can play it, if you want to read it and decide for yourself).
It's a rough video but it's also beautiful imo, and was very cathartic for me. If you ever watch it, i beg you to then research what he did at the very end of the very last concert of his tour and watch that clip *after* you've watched the MV. It'll help a lot. 💜

If you're looking for some time out emotionally, might I suggest V's Layover album. Especially " Slow Dancing ", I know it may sound like a romantic song (and it is), but it's more about reminiscing than love, eg the ending of a vacation and yet not quite ready to go back to work.
At any rate the whole album is an easy listening vibe & V's voice has a way to soothe the soul + it has 5 mv (one for each track) 💜

It's also has a second meaning both are used the second meaning which is 'To lift a ban off something that's probibted or something that is consider a social or Cultural taboo. Suga smoking because he's a 'Kpop' Artist is a huge taboo in the Kpop world but he's not under those rules but even still if a BTS member is ever seen smoking the Kpop community will hit the roof with outrage. As Suga said "I'm a 30year old man and some people say I can't smoke'"
I think using the old Slave Market in Thailand was genius of Suga.
