Have you thought about being a foreign exchange student? Let other Rotary Youth Exchange students tell you why this might be the best experience you will ever have.
I am the chair woman for District 4690 Bolivia and it is a wonderful video to motivate to other student to participate on this wonderful program. I wish I could have this subtitle in Spanish
1. Rotary Clubs that sponsor outbound students usually have information to answer all those questions parents (and you) want to know to feel comfortable going. 2.They also frequently have orientations you can both go to together. 3. Also, find a Rotex organization near you and you and mom can visit with returned outbound students and meet those who will be going. 4. If mom still says no, DON'T SNAP A GEAR! You can still do the Peace Corps right after college and live abroad! Good Luck!
The best thing to do is ask the Youth Exchange person or group in the club you would be applying with. You don't have to apply first to ask, just tell them you're interested and want more information. For the club I worked with, leadership just meant have you been a leader for anything? Examples would be helping coordinate a church activity or maybe a leader or co-leader in a school group, that sort of thing. Best of luck!
Every club has different relationships and slots available for placement around the world. Ask the local Rotary Club (or Rotex) for your area what they have available and talk to your friends and family to help you decide if you want to give it a go by applying. You aren't obligated to pick anything by simply asking. Good luck!
I'm seriously thinking of applying, my parents have OK'd it, and I meet the above average student requirement, but when they say the requirement based off of like "leadership" does that mean like ASB associated things? Or what exactly does "leadership" mean?
At this time, there are no versions available with subtitles for languages other than English. However, persons interested in versions with subtitles can contact their local Rotary club or district and make the request. It is possible with enough interest/funding that other versions could be created.
