I wonder if it's possible that my mechanic put the wrong pulley on the hi flo water pump and it's not enough flow for the 4 core large volume radiator causing my over heat issue thermostat isn't the issue nor is radiator but radiator holds nearly twice what the sticker did I assumed since I pull ATVs to sand dunes more volume 4 core would be like insurance from overheating

When does cavitation start in auto water pumps?

good question. Really never experienced that. Would be a restriction to cause that because usually either we pump to much or not enough. Not enough is usually turning it to slow as in a 1 to 1 ratio or underdriven. Over driven we monitor water pressure and usually we try to keep that in a normal 15 to 20 psi range WOT.

Keep repeating it over and over and over and maybe people will eventually start to believe it. Unfortunately many of the SBC aluminum pulley MFGRs don't even offer non-underdriven water pump ratios any more. The only alum pulleys for C3 Corvettes are either 22% undriven or 22.5% underdriven; and AC cars came 25.6% OVERDRIVEN from the factory. *SIGH*
