I interviewed Kaurismaki, who’d had one too many, but responded to my questions so well & later told me it was his first intelligent interview w an American.
@@ragamuffin98 nobody just interviews a celebrity for the hell of it. It would have been kept on a journal or a web page. You are really smart I did not know there was a time that internet didn't exist! Smart and very well-spoken too! A smart and well spoken person like yourself must be the heart of a friend group.
Ozu's film "I was born,but.....",produced in 1932 is silent picture. i like this film very much and surprisingly in this interview he said this title as it's so meaningful word for his life.(as epitaph). It was very interesting Aki's film "Juna"(1999) was monochrome and silent picture.I thought of the influence deeply in him. By the way "I was born,but....",the title in Japanese is "Umarete wa mitakeredo","生まれてはみたけれど".
From Finland originate my favourite things really: Kaurismäki, Linux, IRC, Nightwish, Koskenkorva, Sibelius, Nokia, Kimi Räikkönen, Angry Birds, Kalevala..
Criterion Collection's Tokyo Story release has this as a bonus feature and it says: Talking with Ozu, a forty-minute tribute to the director from 1993, featuring the reflections of filmmakers Lindsay Anderson, Claire Denis, Hou Hsiao-hsien, Aki Kaurismäki, Stanley Kwan, Paul Schrader, and Wim Wenders. I would've guessed early 90's based on the design of that street car, but there's the more accurate information above.
Aki Kaurismäki has never made a lousy movie, but he's right, Ozu was a master,
Every so often i come back to this UA-cam video. I deeply love this and think about it often.
カウリマスキ監督、カッコいい❗️赤いヤカンを真ん中にして小津監督と対面、何と素敵な❗️ー劇場でも観ましたが、カウリマスキ監督のパートが一番印象的でした

@@diegosoto8116 great to great
the cutest and hilarious talk about ozu , much love :D
小津安二郎監督も天国でアキカリウスマキの言葉一つ一つを嬉しがってるだろうね。こんなに深いリスペクトが伝わる独白が出来るのは、類い稀なる素晴らしい感受性から生まれてくるものなのでしょうね。
That video makes me feel better.

Great!

すばらしい。Bravo
A few words in japanese by Kaurismaki with subtitles in english on OZU thank you Aki San.
We're all just Leningrad Cowboys.
Aki Kaurismaki on Ozu 0635am 24.10.24 summer wiht monika disastrously replayed...
Sorry,it's "Juha",Not "Juna".
ahahah. love this
When were these interviews recorded?

Is this a part of a film or documentary? What is it?
I believe it is Criterion feature added to Tokyo Story.
Ah.. a fellow weeb uwu
