Every guitar solo break Doc takes has feeling and personality unlike any other player. Throw that textured voice on top, add the tasty fills, and you have a unique and timeless treasure.
Doc was one of the most elegant people in the world, well amongst musicians. He would laugh at that stupid joke. Thanks for the kind invitation and this recording. Quite amazing.
I just serendipitously happened upon this video this morning...the only thing that could have made it any better was if there had been video of their performance as well. I loved the Folkways and Rounder Watson Family recordings. I wish there had been more of them. You sure don't much miss the third finger when Arnold plays Cripple Creek, do you? This is a marvelous recording. May I ask you on what type of machine you recorded it and whether you will be posting more? Thank you for posting this. Are you a musician as well?
Hey Gary, I'm not aware of any. Arnold was my Grandfather, but if any exist I would guess it would be from Newport Folk Festival in in 1963. He played with Doc and there. I've seen photos and heard recordings but no video to my knowledge.

The sheer amount of doc and Arnold’s relatives commenting on this makes my heart incredibly happy. Salt of the earth, the watsons, from first to last.
These fellers make my heart happy! Thanks! =)
