I am from the house of Winsor. Collins ancestry through my mother. King Louis. Traced to Windsor castle. I was lucky to be there. Also. Beauchamp Tower has a signature Collins carved on the wall. My great grandfather Squires, lady Rachael Beauchamp. Also, Princess Diana,, deSpencer.
How convenient of the narrator to blame Prince David, (later King Edward 8th), to be the "bad boy" ! When in fact both brothers had married women as mistresses... The fact is King George 5th and Queen Mary dangled a tempting carrot under Bertie's (Prince Albert. Later King George 6th) nose. "Marry, and we'll style you Duke of York" ! (A title reserved for the second son). Lady Elisabeth Bowes Lyon already had a suitor when Bertie began courting her. A nice young Scot. Only he had no title nor any money. This guy was convinced by Prince Albert that he'd find riches in Canada, so went there. In the meantime Bertie finally managed to persuade Elisabeth to marry him... She quite happily accepted the title of Duchess of York. Foolishly she later blamed Wallis Simpson for giving her husband such hardship, having to take over the Throne, when his brother King Edward 8th abdicated. (Bertie could have declined I guess, as he had three younger brothers. The two eldest had been styled Duke of Kent, and Duke of Glouchester...) There was a Princess too of course. Princess Mary, the Princess Royal. And a little boy, Prince John, who died very young.
I live in America. I've seen alot of documentaries on him. He seemed like a really good man. And a good 👑 king.
Wonderful documentary, well done.
He stepped up and rose to the occasion, not an easy thing and for anyone that has had their life take an abrupt and unexpected turn an inspiration.
"Well done 👏👏👏 , good 🤩and faithful 🌟servant!"
King's speech.....great movie 🎬
