    How do you slate for live theatre. I have a great teacher and director. I know you mentioned tv and film but I like to know about live theatre

      Usually they will specify what they need just like any other slate. However, if they haven't given you anything at all, I would follow the steps I outline in this video: Name, Agent, Height and Location. And then do a wide shot for 3-5 seconds.

    Question at 3:35 is the full body slot ok to be vertical video with the black on the sides for those 3-5 seconds or would that be a no and look too unprofessional

    Thank you - for commercials we usually slate first. (USA)😊

    • @StageMilk
      @StageMilk  Рік тому +3

      Yes always go by the instructions. Commercial that is more common, but lots of US casting like it at the end for film and TV.

    "You don't want to be Tony Robbins." That would be a pretty INTENSE slate! 😂

    Thank you so much, do you have to give you full legal name in the slate or you can go by the name you want to give in the industry i.e first and middle?

    • @StageMilk
      @StageMilk  Рік тому +2

      I usually just use first and last name. But you can check with agent or casting.

    Love the videos! I just got one question because it caught my attention. Is keep the tone of the character always a good thing to do in the slate ? I just thought maybe playing the character but in the slate being my natural self would show a type of range in a since if that makes since 😅😅? I'm still learning please give me your input

    • @StageMilk
      @StageMilk  Рік тому +2

      That’s a good point and definitely a valid choice. You can really play here whatever you think works for the audition. I think often they want the “right” person more than a “transformational” person.

    Should the slate be at the beginning or end of the video?🎬

    • @StageMilk
      @StageMilk  Рік тому

      We talk about the end in this video- that is my recommendation unless the brief says otherwise

      @@StageMilkwhen I see calls they usually be broken down like 1. Slate, 2. Full body Shot, 3. Medium shot scenes/shots, etc… which means it is saying the order sort of ..

    • @StageMilk
      @StageMilk  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely! And as I highlighted in the video, always follow the instructions, but if nothing is given you can use the suggestions of the video.@@DarkCloudLightFF7DCL

    Excellent advice.
    But remember, there are rules..and rules Neo can be broken
    My " algorithm" make it fun for yourself and creativity,You will be more authentic, and won't worry about " their" expectations
    No one lost a job when the acting was good ,but the slate sucked
