Hello. I am a nurse working in Korea. The transfusion set doesn't have Y-tubing. Is it okay to mix physiological saline in the PRBC bag like you, with the transfusion set connected to the saline solution alone?
Hey what’s up Libby. We don’t open the saline line while the blood line is open. We open the saline line when the blood bag is finished and blood line is closed off. The saline allows you to run in all the blood that is still in the tubing after the blood bag is finished. Did that answer your question?
@@PainH8er can you explain how to run the blood that is still in the tubing with the saline once the bag is empty? I ran into an issue where the bag was emptied and the line was air up until the pump, and so the pump was beeping saying “air in line”. I got someone else to help me. How do you flush the blood that is left below the air in the line with the saline? Do you just open the door, open the saline clamp, let it fill the blood bag, and run it? Sorry for the complicated question.

Do you have to prime y site line that is used for blood with saline prior to infusion?
If I'm understanding your question correctly, I think the answer is no.
so you don't open the saline line before starting the pump? basically we only use the saline to prime the line and thats it?
