    This is the kind of music I spent almost my entire young life looking for, because of my obsession with adult swim bumps. I'm so happy that I never stopped looking through the years.

      to this day whenever I try to explain Flamingosis or Shag or .phase, Adult Swim music is the closest I can get.

    I have only seen Return to Oz once. As a little child I was struck by the terror of it, but more than that it was an overwhelming overdose of make-believe. This might sound strange, but I found myself inevitably falling in love with NOT understanding it. The rules of what was going on were undefined but sovereign. I couldn't handle it. Any scene could have been followed by any new rule or revelation or development and I would have accepted it. To a young impressionable mind, anything could happen. It was spun with infinity. The world seemed *infinitely* ancient. The sand that instantly crumbles any living thing to more dead sand was *infinitely* horrible, as was the gallery of heads. The selection of one correct artifact out of countless assortments with only a few chances to guess was *infinitely* intricate -- that one in particular lit my mind on fire in a way that several video games of my youth also captured. (It's a feeling of discovery and choice, the impression that a whole world of new logic could yield anything, even if it is only a 40Kb NES cartridge. Who hasn't had a storyworld of their youth that went on forever in a moment?) In short, this film was ALIVE, even as it showed a dead and dying universe. The contrast was absolutely spellbinding.
    I really want to see it again. But I fear that it should stay in my first impressions or I'll lose them. This film helped to grow up my imagination.

      Dear God, i share your exact thoughts. Although you have said it best.
      I have also just watched this masterpiece ONLY once, and as a kid. It was on the TV in the afternoon, by the evening when it was over, i was mesmerized, i recall being the first movie i REALLY wanted to refresh in my mind, i kept listing what happened from start to finish, it was unreal. The thing that stuck with me the most was seeing the emerald city in ruins(also, as you mentioned i didn't have a clue what Oz were, so in fact it was a Return to the unknown). I think i was 6 years old.
      And if you read that, i apologize the grammar, english is not my first language. God bless you.

    If you haven't listened to this song with really nice headphones you're missing out. Shag has this thing where the music travels from one ear to another almost like you can physically feel it move from left and to your right. Without the headphones the volume just lowers in a way.

  • @Jackieception
    @Jackieception 8 років тому +49

    At this level of expression, you can only feel what you sense. And I cannot describe what I felt but the feeling I can barely bring to words as something that there its in everyone into us, buried deeply into our soul, but that something makes part of us and exhibit itself whenever we think about or do good things. We then feel complete inside this feeling inside us.

    Visuals are cool and all but the song makes me feel like I'm not living life to the full, like it's passing me by and I'm just wasting the moments, postponing the pain for a later date as it piles up ever so gradually. It's a deep sadness with a twinge of hope. Anyone feel like that sometimes?

    • @senglomein5766
      @senglomein5766 4 роки тому +5

      yeah. unfortunately, that twinge of hope sounds like your subconscious is playing its favorite role of "over-protective parent" by perpetuating the problem with nice delusional phrases, like: "dont worry, there's always tomorrow." "Hey, you've done alot, dont feel lame bro. Just sit inside where its safe, and keep feedng me. f o r e v e r . . . . .

      @Fleece Johnson Your comment cuts to the heart, man. It really moved me because the story is eerily similar to mine. I also didn't appreciate the opportunities I had and wasted a lot of good gifts. Dropped out of uni and started hating the world and myself especially. I thought I was special and too good for my environment and the people around me so consequently, I felt like an absolute failure when things didn't plan out the way I wanted them to. A lot's changed since my original comment, however, and I'm in a better place now. Even Seng loMein's comment was helpful haha. I've taken some corrective measures and I'm slowly changing, getting better.
      What else is there to say? God bless you Fleece Johnson for your courage and honesty and may He bring you to the fullest expression of who you were made to be.
