Today is 6/11/23 I've watched this video at least 100 times and of all of her videos online, this is still my favorite. To be able to do that at 10 years old is beyond comprehension Andre Rieu did a fantastic job of letting the orchestra follow her and to let her interpret the song as she wished. Just an amazing performance
Born in Holland in 2004, she is now 18 (will be 19 this April), Amira Willighagen has become a legend already around the world, not only for her incredible vocal prowess, but for her benevolent, humanitarian endeavors since age 10 (the age she was here). Her name "Amira" means "Princess" in Persian, and she truly is from the inside out! The same year she did this concert with Andre Rieu, she began a charitable foundation called "Gelukskinders," meaning "Lucky Children," to raise funds to build playgrounds throughout South Africa for impoverished children who typically have no place to play except the streets. Leading by example, she gives 50% of all her income from concerts, CD's, etc., back into the foundation. Currently, 18 playgrounds have been built, with more to come (and perhaps expanding to other countries eventually). She was born and raised in Holland, but currently resides with her mother and brother Fincent in South Africa, which is her Mom's home place. She recently graduated valedictorian from her school, and will be doing a world tour before beginning musical studies at university level. She's a girl of wonderful, solid values and character, beautiful inside and out.
Amira's voice is so pure and beautiful. l enjoy her voice so much. My favorites are: O BABBINO Caro and OSole Mio with Patrizio Buanne. I'm afraid Amira is going to do that to you every time.. I know exactly how you feel because I felt the same the first time I heard Amira. .. You put it well when you said you don't know what you feel! Just to get used to that feeling , I'm suggesting that you go straight to her performance of Nessun Dorma in the final of Holland's got Talent 2013. It was only months before the performance you just watched. It's mind boggling.
She is amazing. She learn singing opera by listening to UA-cam tutorials. So had no singing lesson, its all by her self. Now she sings in at least 7 different languages.
Welcome to the world of our Amira!! She hooked me (I'm almost 67) about 2 or 3 months ago and hasn't let me go. I can't get enough of her. She pierces your heart (you felt it too). In these troubled times we all need her!
10 years old, 6 months earlier she had won Hollands got talent, and Andre Rieu had seen the performance and invited her to sing at his annual concert in Maastricht. Her first album was out and riding high in the Dutch charts. As for the emotion, she does that with her performance's, I still get damp behind the eyes. She is an angel as you rightly observed. She set up her own foundation- at this early age- and sends half of her earnings to build playgrounds in the poor townships of south Africa. She believes her talent is a gift from God, and wants to repay the privilege of wielding it. Who'd argue? She's 18 now, just finished school, and is planning a world tour before going on to study music at college. There are plenty of high quality performance's of her on you tube. At 10, she began giving acclaimed performances all over the world. She also donates half of her earnings to the building of playgrounds for colored kids in underfunded schools in South Africa. She is an Angel and one of Gods children! She is loved by millions of fans.

I’m 74 years old and been an Amira fan for four years now and she still amazes me how she can bring me to tears of joy and make me laugh all at same time! A little side note about Andre Reiu, he is a world class conductor and violinist. That violin he is holding is a Stratavairous (probably not spelled right) that today is worth about five million dollars.

So very glad you found this one!!! I didn't discover Andre until 2011. His orchestra performed his arrangement of a waltz composed by Sir Anthony Hopkins, before he got into acting. Andre and his orchestra travel world wide! I, then also discovered this performance by this young lady. Both have had tremendous success and you should check out more of both!!

Great reaction ‘’D’’. Very similar to millions of her fans worldwide when they first heard this once in a lifetime voice. I browsed at all the comments below ,so I don’t believe I’m doubling up by giving you a small snippet of Amira’s background. The only voice training to this point was a few pointers by Andre Rieu at the rehearsal. Amira taught herself by watching & mimicking the likes of Pavarotti & others on uTube from the age of 7 & would sit in front of the tv for hours just practicing. Actually from her first win she has had help and Rieu gave her a week's free traiing before this performance, otherwise she could not have learnt the true Operatic singing she has managed to produce here. BUT she had the natural born talent to begin with.
She started competing in Holland's Got Talent and won that. She sang O Mio Babbino Caro. Check out her performance of Ave Maria and Nessum Dorma from that show. Someone else suggested Amazing Grace which is truly amazing and her duet with Patrizio "O Sole Mio". She has some more modern music as well. First recorded by Helen Sjöholm & Stefan Nilsson, the song charted at Svensktoppen for 68 weeks 2005-2006. It was the theme song in the Swedish movie "As It Is In Heaven" about the same time. She is now about 18 yo and is ranked among the finest lyric sopranos currently performing.
But not in any Operas.
She has not developed the voice to fill a huge hall; almost always sings into a mike. And may not need it for her career.

I browsed at all the comments below ,so I don’t believe I’m doubling up by giving you a small snippet of Amira’s background.
The only voice training to this point was a few pointers by Andre Rieu at the rehearsal. Amira taught herself by watching & mimicking the likes of Pavarotti & others on uTube from the age of 7 & would sit in front of the tv for hours just practicing.
There is so much more you’ll learn about Amira as you do more reactions.

Actually from her first win she has had help and Rieu gave her a week's free traiing before this performance, otherwise she could not have learnt the true Operatic singing she has managed to produce here. BUT she had the natural born talent to begin with.

She started competing in Holland's Got Talent and won that. She sang O Mio Babbino Caro. Check out her performance of Ave Maria and Nessum Dorma from that show. Someone else suggested Amazing Grace which is truly amazing and her duet with Patrizio "O Sole Mio". She has some more modern music as well.

Welcome to the amazing world of Amira!!! She IS so angelic. Her voice reaches inside you and resonates deep in your soul. She knows and tells people that it is a gift from God and that she wants to use that gift properly. She had no fear--at 10--as you said--standing before 10-15 thousand people and just sings because she gets such joy from singing. She says she feels like she is floating in the air on a trampoline. Andrew Clayton already gave you some other performances of Amira that I also highly recommend. When you have heard Amira sing a song--she owns it. I no longer hear Julie Andrews singing The Sound of Music, but Amira. I hear Amira singing Nessun Dorma--not Pavarotti--yes, she is that good!! In my opinion Amira's best performance is the Swedish ballad "Gabriellas Song" music by Stefan Nilsson and lyrics by Py Bäckman. First recorded by Helen Sjöholm & Stefan Nilsson, the song charted at Svensktoppen for 68 weeks 2005-2006. It was the theme song in the Swedish movie "As It Is In Heaven" about the same time. Amira Willighagen(Opera/Musicals) was my second Angel I found Laura Bretan (Opera/Musicals/Rock) my first, about 5 months later I found Angelina Jordan (Everything) and Alma Deutscher (Classical Composer/ Vurtioso on Piano and Violin).. There are some Angels Out there strange thing is all are In same Age range? I have been following all of them from start of their Carriers all of them have One goal and that is to spread Love Hope and Happiness to their surroundings and the World 🤗

The most reviewed for her are the third movement of her violin concerto and her SIRENS WALTZ from her sold-out Carnegie Hall concert. She cast a snook at reviewers who claim modern music should not be beautiful by resolving a traffic jam into four Viennese waltzes. Her third opera just opened in Salzburg.
