That is false. SA-X weakness is the plasma beam and as Adam's A.I revealed, the plasma beam was ready for Samus to download somewhere around mid-game. However, the download was put on hold on purpose so Samus wouldn't kill the SA-X since the Galactic Federarion wanted to capture her alive.

@@marche800I was going to say exactly this. We defeat it and it runs away. It shows back up to assist in fighting the final boss since it's an X parasite and hates metroids more than it wants us dead.

Honestly. Threating the player with the literal equivalent of themselves is pretty scary.
Imagine if this was fallout. The player starts back at level one and now they're being hunted by their past selves.
The only things in the station left was x-viruses, and samus. The rest of the animals were dead, except the little animals that helped samus in super metroid. I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I SAW THEM

It doesnt have any power up,it is basically you,the only thing able to defeat samus, IS samus.
The x-virus caused you to.lose all your powers, but the sa-x has eery powers samus has at the end of super metroid.
Even at the end where you get plasma beam and can actually hurt S-AX, they are still stronger than you, they just don’t have the same skills that the real Samus does
@@bobbysauce64They are really not, end game samus has rhe gravity suit which is superior to the varia suit. ALSO Samus in fusion has the difusion missiles which the SA-X doesn't have. You can freeze the SA-X for a short period of time, but she cannot freeze you anymore.

I like how they didn't go overboard with the SA-X's design, they didn't need to change the color of the suit or anything to signify that it was "evil" or give her an advantage over regular Samus, just the thought alone of something that has all of Samus' powers but none of the empathy or humanity is terrifying enough and the devs knew this. (This also makes it's transformation during the final battle even more surprising and earned because it was like you shed its human looking shell and finally revealed the demon lurking underneath)
The varia suit did look different to the Metroid infant flesh suit
If we ever get a fusion remake i want there to be a new mode thst unlocks when you beat the game where once the SAX is introduced they will be arround the station looking for you like the whole game is an EMMI zone in dread and the story of fusion even says there are like 7 of them at one point so as the game progresses there sre just more of them around you have to watch out for. The purpose of this mode would be to keep you on edge 100% of the time

The worst part is that they were so many. We probably never saw the same one thorough out the entire game.
This is an interesting thought, next time I play it, I'll keep that in mind-gives the game a whole different feel.
Yeah, the computer eventually tells us that the parasites can reproduce, and that there's three of the same SA-X on the station.

That is only in late game. At least the sa-X you encounter in sector 2(upper level) and 5 should be the same. The SA-X in lower sector 2(next to the reactor) could be a different one since it was just there guarding the reactor. The SA-X that fought the metroids seems to have stalked Samus for a bit but she ended up dying.
The SA-X you face could be entirely a new one or one you have encou ter before

Yes, and since most of the game you can't kill the SA-X it'd be way worse.. unlike the EMMI who we lose some fear from since you kill them frequently

@@Yokai_YuriIt's a better game than Super Metroid, the only reason it's less popular is because Fusion came out during that grey area between gamer generations. The older Metroid fans were too old to like the side scrolling metroidvania style and the younger fans weren't old enough to actually be fans yet. Metroid Prime was a fantastic game and the older Metroid fans shifted to that series because that was the move during that time. This is like comparing OoT to the Oracle games, it wouldn't make sense, they're two different genres.

I don't think it's underrated per se, but there are some aspects of it that some fans weren't a fan of, such as the greater narrative focus and more linear design. While I prefer Super Metroid over it, I do enjoy Fusion for what it is and I'm glad it exists.
And this may be an unpopular opinion, but I feel that Dread is actually very overrated. It's enjoyable enough and I enjoy the challenge of the bosses and such, but it lacks the same atmosphere of prior games, the music is straight up bad, the EMMIs are a poor succesor to the SA-X stalker concept, and the plot, aside from the 'twist' at the end, was a huge letdown after what Fusion's ending lead us to believe we'd be getting.

The guys at Murcury Steam did such an amazing job with Metroid Dread. I would love to see what they could do to make SA-X encounters scarier that they already are.
Honestly just giving it modern graphics probably would bump up the horror factor
And if they remade Fusion.. would it still be as linear or will they overhaul it? Like if they overhaul they could have the SA-X *actually* stalk the halls instead of a bunch of scripted encounters (ie EMMI zones essentially, just without the ability to defeat them)
3D Metroid fusion would be absolutely terrifying I can just imagine they're being very few lights and the only light you can see would be a flashlight emitting from samus's visor you can only hear the SA-X and its footsteps that would be pure nightmare fuel
IMO, Dread was a pretty big letdown, especially after what we all thought we'd be getting as a followup to Fusion.
@@BaconNuke it would need to remain linear same as Metroid SR was. Because weapons and skills were locked behind plot, not locations specifically, and the narrative matters enough in the game that they can't change the game that much.

I love how Fusion went in on the horror aspect more. Metroid's always had that sci-fi horror vibe, especially in Prime 2
It isn't just that it's Samus at max power, it's that it has no soul. Intelligence, beyond what Samus could do thanks to the hive mind, advanced tech mixed with heightened senses, but nothing beyond 'protect the species; propagate' like any swarm species. It could and would go to extreme lengths to both stop the threat to the X as a whole and expand the brood.
Above all else, it was a consuming swarm, with it's own player character. And there was no reasoning with it, no delaying it, no appeasement to be had. It would always keep pushing forward.
Those footsteps haunt my nightmares
If they make a remake of Metroid Fusion they need to add the chance of finding the SA-X in ANY room. Just to add more suspense to the whole game.

The dev of metroid dread wanted it but got to make the sequel instead but the EMMI is the new SA-X if they could remake yeah they have the blue print now to make a whole station run by SA-X
Absolutely terrified me first playthrough but being trapped in a room with Nightmare gave me literal nightmares.

My granddad used to work on fixing trains. He would find GBA games time to time. This game was the one he found and gave to me as a child.
I was supposed to sleep for school. But I really wanted to play the game more. So, I went under the blanket, and within less than a minute....saw the SA-X zoom in. I didn't scream. I just watched her quietly walk away.
Right after that, I quietly put the GBA SP away and went to bed.
I fucking loved the addition of survival horror elements. Fusion is my favorite metroid game for that reason. My only criticism is I feel like they slightly under-used the SA-X and made the encounters too scripted. I thought we'd randomly encounter it when it was introduced.
Metroid Dread did a much better job at giving us a threat and making us deal with it. I hope that if we get a remake of Fusion that they make SA-X a Random encounter. If you hear footsteps YOU NEED TO HIDE.

a 3-d first person "behind the visor" style remake a la the prime games would be such a "shut up and take my money!" idea!
And the SA-X's appearance in the opening sequence of Dread would raise nostalgic goosebumps on faithful players who played Fusion to completion. God, those eyes took me back.
Yeah the SA-X is scary, but alot of the times it showed up were short lived.. but the fucking E.M.M.I in Dread was terrifying!!!
The E.M.M.I. aren't scary, they just give you a similar feeling because they kill you instantly and can't be outrun. You're scared of the instant death, not the goofy looking robot.
To be honest the E.M.M.I are just the bionicles 3-year-old me left under the couch and are now seeking active revenge for leaving them to rot there
EMMI's were a poor succesor to the SA-X, even if they were utilized more.

The mimic/changling/shapeshifter will always be the most terrifying monster imo. takes "id be afraid of me" to a whole new level
it would be an amazing plot if they switched roles, you play the game as SA-x and find out that the real Samus is hunting you
That would be a pretty awesome reveal to find out you're not the real samus like 80% through the game
Nintendo has learned that their best Metroid games are the suspenseful ones. Suspense has a way of pulling you into the game so well.

Legit gave me chills any time I first encountered it. Severely underrated game. Fusion, although pretty linear, was a great game.
Will never forget the chills I got when I first saw the SA-X.
I always loved how it gave the whole terminator vibe. Like you’re being stalked by an invulnerable assassin that couldn’t damaged, and it wouldn’t stop hunting you until you were dead. While it’s never flat out stated, it’s as if the SA-X is specifically hunting Samus, unlike the other X parasites that were just actively looking to destroy the station and wreak havoc.

The SA-X scared me back in the day lol. I would freak out and try to get away. When I played Dread a couple years ago it gave me the same feeling when those evil robots chased me! Lol
When SA-X looks at the screen, it's almost as if she's asking if you saw anyone use the elevator terminal.
This is how old I am my first introduction to Metroid was Mother Brain in Captain N and the game warriors. Video games were a lot harder to locate back then, and even though there was things like Nintendo power and such, that didn't mean you were up to date on all the shit going on out there

It hit different how the SA-X stopped, turned to the screen and looked at the player dead in the eye. Almost like it was saying, "Yeah, I see you."
It’s hard to believe how this 2D platformer for GBA could put so much fear in my little heart as a kid. You genuinely felt fear. It was insane and that’s why this is one of the best Metroid games ever made.
I was 7 when this came out in 2001. I still remember the very first time I saw the SA-X. That face zoom scared me so bad I didn’t touch the game again for a week. Of course I didn’t save so I had to go through it again 😂
The SAX have me actual panic attacks as a kid. I remember having to concentrate more on not shaking than actually avoiding it. I'm in my 30s, but that render of the SAX with its blank eyes still gives me chills.
Finally this game is getting love. This game needs a remake badly with a new game+
I remember when I was 8 and first played Fusion and first saw SA-X... Heart beating like crazy with every encounter and I couldn't handle the tension during that forced chase when entering Sector 2... Quit playing the game until I was 14 and I wasn't as scared as back then...
was my favorite gba game. the setting , story and artmosphere is awesome. really hope for a 3d remake of this one day.
Metroid used a Doppelganger as the main antagonist. Rare to see it any more but it has had great success i.e. vampire diaries. Personally I think it's the best villain in all the games. And the addition of SA-X being Full Power Samus just adds so much
The audio changes made it extra terrifying, maybe the scariest thing Nintendo made outside of the cut mother 3 nightmare scene.

It makes you feel like Ripley at first, being stalked as you try to find a way off.
The fact that the only way to make samus resist the x-parasite was to bind Samus to the DNA of its only known predator, the Metroid. Slowly but surely in the course of the game you embrace that predatorship to eventually kill the SA-X
This turned my playthrough of this game into a nightmare game of cat and mouse.
Their hope of mimicking you is insane too, like I know that in horror, if a monster sees you it chases you. But the SA-X wants to mimic you entirely and alone, so it will chase you to kill you and when it can't find you for the first time, it goes from hunting for sport to tracking the player for necessity. It must also be heartbreaking for Samus to see her Power Suit that was gifted to her by her adoptive family infected with the X-Parasite and track her down until she is dead at the hands of it. It's like The Thing except you know who is the impostor because it is you
Especially if you played super Metroid before this you know exactly what that suit is capable of

The best part really is that the SA-X is literally Samus at her full power. That’s how scary she is to every other enemy in the game and how almost hopeless it is when anybody has to fight her. Samus at full power is a beast

My favorite moment in the game was the second last shot in the video. When an SAX goes full panic mode when it finds its natural predator and starts fireing everything kit can in a desperate hope to eradicate this threat.
Having that hunt you was so freaking 👍 Eswat also had you fighting your twin, for the genesis 😊
Love that you put the Super sound effects over the SA-X. Makes me wish nintendo would of made that way for the fans.
The SA-X terrified me as a kid. No exaggeration, there were moments where I didn't touch the game for months because I couldn't progress any further without encountering the SA-X. Flawless execution of a scary antagonist.

What makes the SA-X even scarier is the fact that it can reproduce itself like all X parasites. So by the end of the game there had been 11 SA-X in total.
One was killed with the secret lab and one was defeated by Samus and then again by the Omega Metroid before Samus absorbed its X core. ADAM said 10 because one was already killed, leaving "at least" 10 alive. So in theory, there could have been even more

The final battle with the SAX was so difficult for me, I kept getting to the second stage and then die immediately, took me a couple of days
But that game was amazing, and Metroid Dread having the same feel was just awesome to experience again.

Well since Dark Samus is a Phazon-infected Metroid.. thing.. it would just fight the SA-X.. and probably win lol so there wouldn't be as much tension since there can't be a possible double boss fight.. unless it's a weird three-way fight between Samus, SA-X, and Dark Samus..

The SA-X mimics Samus at the level she was at in Super Metroid. Samus gets infected by the X parasite at the beginning of Fusion, has to get fused with Metroid DNA leaving her unable to use her old power suit and physiologically changing her. SA-X has Samus's old suit, including super missiles power bombs and what makes her truly a threat to Samus: The Ice Beam, because Samus' new Metroid infused genetics makes her super weak to Cold.

I still scare when play this game. During elementary school I stuck on certain part because of SA-X and objective to search. It was my first time playing Metroid. Until my university time that i had courage playing the game but still scare a heck a lot for me.
I always hoped and dreamed of them developing a Metroid Fusion on bigger consoles.
