Holy crap I was only three years old back then! Good times!!
I 'memba driving them. But the thang was a manual 4 speed and the clutch could be soo hard. You really needed skills because the Fishbowl will let everyone know when you messed up. I miss them : )
I remember my mother took me to school and we rode on one of those buses. I remember looking outside the back window of the bus and seeing cars buses and vehicles behind us. This was 1993 as a 5 year old. Great memories
Comments like yours keep me doing this. Thank you for sharing. P.S. I smoked a bowl in the empty building that is now Chelsea Market just before the bus ride.
@trainluvr lol thats a memorable moment for you! And no problem I hope you got more of this! I'm a 90s guy myself
Love the fishbowls with the unit on top of rear👌👌
Dude, you are killing me! You have GOLD here!
It's a damn shame every window on that bus was open....one thing I remember about those Blitz rebuilds...with the new Thermo King center mounted AC units...those buses were so cold you could hang sides of beef from the standee poles
These buses were all retired by 1995, not 1993.
Watching this made me miss riding them out of Hudson Pier.
#5150 in front was a ex Staten island express bus assigned to Yukon depot. Following a accident with #5567 all blitz express were moved to local lines at HUD,MCH and UP

Were'nt some of these remanufactured Blitz GMC Fishbowl NYCTA Buses retofitted with Alison V730 Transmissions?
A Blitzed 1966 GM New Look TDH-5303
I remember the old look buses on Triboro Coach they retired them in early 1968 not one was saved!
1st fishbowl on video with 6v92? Like RTS
Yes, a lot of the upper east/west side xtown lines had former express fishbowl! I rode the M86 to and from HS in the early 90s!
I don't know about being a Comfortable ride. It was terrible. It's the smell and the sounds I miss. The coin counter, the air assist door, the click of the rear door telling the driver it's closed, the big convex mirror that Bronx people used to steal.
GEORGI still advertises it's liquor @ 3:53
I use to live in building 40 back in the late 50's and moved to Queens in the early 60's. Amsterdam will always be my home!!!
Glad you liked it.
