Yep..even the Pros, know when to let things go. In some stage races, they will back off on one stage to save something for a crucial upcoming stage. Just listen to your body.
Timely message. At 63 and back into cycling for about 20 months, I've been getting in about 60 miles per week, mostly just to maintain a level of fitness that I achieved last season riding 100-120 per week. This week we're having great weather, highs in the 70s, but I'm feeling a little respiratory illness, so I'm not riding. I could ride, but experience shows I'd feel worse after and recovery would be delayed. Not worth it.

Yeah..if you're not feeling like your normal self don't chance it. If you must ride, just spin the little gears and enjoy the outdoors.
