    In this video I tear down/disassemble a Philips 3000 series shaver. You might want to do this for a few reasons, firstly to clean it fully (it is only sealed against water/dirt in the battery compartment), to replace or to re-cycle the Li-ion battery.

    Found a broken ground on the motor. I was able to strip the wire and heat the old solder and attach the new exposed wire. Worked like a charm. Thank you for the video.

    Great demonstration of how to replace battery in shaver. Would need more info on the type of battery, size, voltage and is it mercury etc. Where to buy one etc.

      Simply read the code on the battery, you can then order a replacement. Such as from here:

    Just realized that inside the shaver there is a 3 level battery indicator. The plastic on top covers the two of them so from the outside yours only has one indicator. Damn.

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  8 місяців тому +1

      There are several small variations on the battery indicator, but frankly it makes little difference it just flashes when it's low

      @@MrBazReviews Well yea but I found it interesting how the model with one battery indicator has 3 on the inside but not used. All that changes when you get the 3 charge indicator model is the plastic on top

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  3 місяці тому +1

      Get some "solder wick" it soaks up the solder and then it's easier to remove. Just heat both sides of the battery with the wick and it will soak up the solder. Re-apply solder with a new battery fitted (solder the cells ends then insert, and heat up the contacts to bond)

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  5 місяців тому

      They do it so if you drop the item it won't disconnect or the terminals get damaged, but it would be a lot easier if you could just slot a cell into the body or they had an easy access to the battery.

    Why not a ordinary slot in lithium battery, without all this pulling things apart, how long does a battery last on these shavers!

      We live in a disposable society! Sadly. It depends on use it should last multiple years. Maybe 3-4 years possibly a bit longer

      It broke so I made a warranty claim from Philips and they sent me a new one! Before that I had to hold it shut (just by using it) to get it to work. I never found a way to fix it as the part that holds the foil down broke.

    Thanks for the video - very useful. I replaced the battery but all that happens when I press the on/off button is that the orange LED flashes. Nothing happens when I plug in the charger. I've checked that the charge voltage is present on the PCB pads, so the prongs are connecting OK. Any ideas?

      @@DOOMJESUS It's a big debate that I can't really comment on, however Li-ion is well known for well, they can be a fire hazard for one, they also have many metals used in construction - for the sake of a few minutes to remove them, I think dumping them isn't an ideal option.
