  • Driving to Jacmel: Google maps shows a road connecting Petionville to Jacmel. Is it passable by car? Most say no - but there is a rumor that a few have done it. So I went up into the mountains to see how far I could get.

Thank you for this video! I really wanted to know what the road looked like because every time I ask why we can't use it people just tell me "wout la pa bon". That was a really cool trip!

That’s exactly why I went up there. I needed to see what wout la pa bon actually means 🤣. It’s so beautiful up there!

Ok thanks. I rechecked the map I see your stop was in Ouest department , so I figured you didn’t make it to sequin since it’s in the Sud Est Department.

@@simplymilouse2410 Yes. I think the space between where I stopped and Seguin is the most difficult terrain in terms of using a normal vehicle.

I and some other CW Ms did it years ago from the south on motorcycles. We got arrested in a small town along the way. They thought we were “camoquins”-guérillas who were going in to overthrow the government! They finally came to believe we were not, and let us go.

And also camoquins we’re literally white guérilla hired by our former dictator to haunt and kill opposition ppl, critic of his regime. I used to be scared of white folks cause I’ve heard stories.

What conserned you the most , the road or your personal safety ? A white man 's safety in Haiti is a bit dicey at best ? Or am I wrong on that ? God bless you , stay safe !

@@PerksOnMission In the seventies the Jacmel people lobbied against the Furcy road fearing to become an annex of Port-au-Prince. President Préval wanted to build the road to Jacmel for 80 million usd. Between the capital and Kenscoff you have 21km, between Kenscoff and Marigot you have 41 km and between Marigot and Jacmel you have 24 km, giving you a total of 86 km, 6 more than the 80 km distance provided by the main road built in 1976. If you use a Polaris or a 4-wheel moto, you can easily reach Seguin. Thanks for the fruitful exchange.

@@gmicg Perhaps the people of Jacmel were wise after all. I imagine that ride on a polaris must be beautiful. Such a beautiful country.
