Thank you, Mike Bundt!!! That was an exceptional rant about McD. Wish more podcasters were like you - including others on this channel.

Ok what happens when McDermott does this in the playoffs again give him another 8 years to figure out manage this team in the playoffs to a Superbowl SMH

If we see a similar scenario to years past, then I will continue my stance of being concerned with McDermott’s late game decision making. As I stated on the show, I do not absolve McDermott of his mistakes and I definitely share that frustration and concern. I just simply think that the hyperfocus on this game relative to the season is leading to a very extreme anti-coaching sentiment that feels unfair considering that there has been far more success in this season than failure.
We will see what the playoffs have in store and the evaluation, like everything else, will contunue with newer insight from that point forward.

13 seconds - Sean called for a return on the kickoff. The decision was answered postgame. The ST coach got fired afterwards as he called for the touchback. 0 seconds off the clock and the ball at the 20 was a decisive mistake BUT it wasn’t on Sean.

Man I was gonna rock this but had to stop after "The narrative that that is costing the Bills in the big moments in the playoffs is also a load of crap". Pretending the pattern isn't there ain't it.

I do not pretend that the pattern isn’t there. My issue is how quickly people are willing to ship the coach out because of a game, one week removed from a 10th win and clinch of the division, because of a decision that, while I do not agree with, also had merit to be made based on the past success with that exact play-call.
I 100% share the concerns over McDermott’s close game decision making. I also believe that McDermott does do plenty well and the good is always overshadowed because of priors. Maybe he isn’t the coach that gets them to the Super Bowl, or maybe he is, but this game simply isn’t the one I’ll use to call for his job (which, again, I have done in the past - 2023 Philly - because that defensive unit and collapse was his direct responsibility and happened numerous times throughout the year. Then they made necessary changes and the season turned around, and I changed my tune.)
I am not blaming fans for wanting more. I want a championship just the same. I am just trying to offer a different way of looking at this situation days removed from a lot of emotional responses from many on social.
Thank you for watching, even if it was not the whole way through.

Taking the penalty showed he believed in his guys. That has a lasting impact on the team that battles for him. Why does it change anything? Both ways the Rams had a 4th down decision, they went for it and beat our defense. So, they went for it on 4th and 5 but everyone assumes they wouldn’t have on 4th and 6? That yard was the reason they would have surely kicked a field goal? Anyone hear Sean McVay say this afterwards? No, cause it’s just in the heads of fake fans looking for a narrative.
The QB sneak had been successful on all but one attempt all year. It was our most dependable play in that situation ran by our best player and was an inch short because he didn’t extend the ball early enough. It should have worked and the clock would have stopped when they scored. If they had to do it again, I hope they do.
But the time out was incorrect.

Taking the penalty plays into his "force the offense to run as many plays as possible and hope they screw up" philosophy. Problem is that it gives the other team more agency and reduces ours.
