"If you weren't born as my child, you would have been so much happier... I made you so unfortunate..." I'm not a parent but I lived with my single mom in a not so fortunate household. I swear I felt physical pain when I heard that line.
Agreed. That whole inner monologue was gutwrenching. Just the idea that a parent working themselves to the bone on their own and barely getting rest at home, due to wanting their kid to grow up happy and not showing them how stressed and exhausted they are, only to end up feeling like they still failed somehow just hurts on a whole different level.
It also emphasizes Aira's response. Only at the end did Silky remember her real daughter and now only had regrets at what she didn't do. She thought her daughter wasn't happy. Aira's act and words show her what she did do for her daughter which was made her happy. The manga implies it was enough to give her peace in death.
The most tragic thing is that Silky was selling her body, alongside working multiple jobs, all to sustain her child. By the end, she ended up ballet dance jumping from the roof after she couldn't save her child & her daughter was sadly murdered "Take them to a kinder world" & they only reunited in the afterlife... What a beautifully directed episode & what a tragic episode... Peak.
14:22 I grew up with a single mom. A mom who sacrificed for me and I saw that growing up, no matter how much she tried to hide it. You barely ever see anime cover it and cover it well, but when Mom had the speech at the end with "I wish I could have bought more for you", I broke down man.
My mom before she had me was a single mother with 2 twin sisters she raised them by herself, gave them love and everything else. Then she raised me with my dad but yeah she had a lot of hard ships
The anime adapted Acro Silky's backstory so well. They used minimal dialogue just like in the manga. The mangaka, Yukinobu Tatsu, has a real gift for that kind of storytelling.
It's my late mom's birthday today and this episode just made me miss her more... Those who still have their moms out there, always give them a hug and make sure to let them know how much you love them every day.
Science SARU, come to the front please and take a bow. The entire production team did an amazing job. Manga wise, the back story wasn't fleshed out like this. The animation took it to another level... a masterpiece.
Yo I’ve been crying for a few minutes now and I just want my son to have the best life I can possibly give him. This is the most beautiful and heart wrenching thing I’ve seen all year.
Agreed. In my experience, the only other anime able to smoothly transition from comedy, to action and to extremely emotional episodes like this is Gintama.
This anime said screw the laws of the universe. You can have wtf or depth in an anime. It's a slider. Only 100 points to distribute. If one is 40, the other is 60. The chefs that cooked this thing up said "set'em both to 75." And when someone pointed out that equaled 150, bro said "Yeah, you're right. We can do more. Set'em both to 80."
As a mom of a 10 year old this hit different all I wanna do is protect her from anything that would harm her and give her everything I can do to not been able to protect her baby is a horrible feeling for a mom they frfr took her babyn did god knows what omg 😳 😢
I'm kinda glad that they didn't show us the manga panel where Silky jumps off the rooftop after her dance. The scene where she was dancing already shows everything you need, and the sound of her hitting the ground makes it even more brutal. Also instead of the scene, where she and her daughter are looking at the stars, in the manga we see both of them walking towards the afterlife together. So yes, the girl was killed shortly after being kidnapped.
I was just calling my parents after watching this episode. Seeing them okay make me feel kinda bad, my job wasn't stable enough to fully take care for them. When they said good bye to me, I didn't wanna leave, I want to see them for a little longer. This episode made me feels like some thing choke in my throat, the tears just came out and I realy want to see my parents again soon.
I can't just call this a "Beautiful Tragedy" since that'll be an understatement of the year. As a reader, the animation has made the original manga panels peak (because the emotion behind the storytelling & drawings were dead on). I'd argue that this is one of the most pivotol episodes to prelude the entire 1st cour season. It's the equivalent of what would happen if Oshi No Ko became a Shonen, but this is still the "HALFWAY" mark!? Just fckn WOW. Adonis you one of the ones that really broke it down and I appreciate this reaction. I'll have to get that patreon this holiday huh?
I'm a daughter, just that, but man it hits hard. Because you'd think your parents would do the same but to witness all that effort to protect you taken in a blink of an eye. That harsh environment, I hope it just doesnt happen to anyone anymore. 😢
In the manga, the mom(silky) danced ballet atop of a building and leaped to her death essentially commiting suicide after that happened they censored it a bit in the anime and just provided context clues but damn they still did the whole backstory justice even as a manga reader i thought i was safe but oh boy was i wrong it still made me emotional
i feel exactly where your coming from, IM a dad as well and man i cried the first time i watched it and i cried again watching your reaction video. this show is amazing!
All I can say is this was unexpected. I watched this with my 9 year old son. The whole episode. I was glancing at him. Thinking that I would have done the same thing too. To make sure he was happy. To see a smile on his face. That broke my heart.
This one totally changed my perception of Aira. I wasn't particularly upset about her attitude towards Ken or Momo in the last two episodes like I knew some people were. You really have to think hard about this, a Youkai basically murdered her in cold blood and then revived her, causing its own death. Their only interaction besides the homicide was Aira seeing her backstory spiritually. For her to immediately decide I MUST comfort my murderer so she can reach the afterlife and see her real daughter again is crazy work. It speaks to a level of kindness that's unimaginable. I always knew I liked her. Her personality was so vastly different than both Ken and Momo that I just know their interactions are gonna produce a chemical reaction and worthy entertainment.
What a tragic story for a spirit. What I'm starting to see and understand now is that all spirits are not that bad. The series is funny and enjoyable, but it has layers. This one hit hard. A mother that would do any and everything for her daughter. Even if it meant dying for her. May she rest in peace..😢
i have no kids, my remaining family are related only by blood. But I still cried. And then I cried again when I realized I still understand love. And I thought this was a comedy
@@pennyinheaven i was concerned because MHA, KNY and Bleach are wrapping up soon but it seems there will be a reason to look forward to the anime season of 2026 🙂
Ah...Chef's Kiss. Right up there with Nanami's JJK Farewell. 👌🏾 Love how the storytelling wasn't gratuitous. Rather, it was what we in the 80's US School system called, "Context Clues." From the context, it clues you into what she did and what happened. So well done. 🌟
@@vensengranville2272 I was thinking its a manga spoiler where Aira gave birth to a reborn acro silky. 😅 I was thinking far ahead. Then it hit me that you meant the soul transfer was Aira being reborn.
I wasn't ready, bruv. Not at all. 😭 Seriously, with the different beats this show hits, this show has skyrocketed to instant classic, like FLCL (Fooly Cooly), Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. S-Tier.
Your reaction is very real thank you this will relate to people it's a very emotional episode it makes you appreciate what you have you can say it was beautiful🥲🥲🥲🥲 I felt so much empathy for her it was just so sad but beautiful

i think anybody with any semblance of human emotion would be heavy in the feels after this episode. i get it, it will hit much harder for parents. i watched this twice and my eyes leaked both times XD. This episode totally came out of left field. Also still prefer it in japanese :p
