I’m really just curious since this is my first time teaching someone a skill I’ve had since childhood and is second nature to me at this point . Should I just start him off on the old school stuff like I did then work him up to more difficult things?? Although certain old school games can be super hard too so .... 😂😂😂

Remaster wouldn´t do anything because it only changes the resolution. They should go for a remake like they did with Nier Replicant. As soon as a game gets a new engine/is build from the ground up, it is a remake. (Best example: Shadow of the Colossus: OG - PS2, Remaster - PS3, Remake - PS4).
@@proto_shane5059 already played the original so I already knew what I was getting. Also Nier series is my most loved series so I will support it no matter what. I also never bought Cyperpunk as it never looked good, unlike this, they showed enough to warrant preordering and supporting the developer.
@@proto_shane5059 I fail to see why someone's choice to pre-order, automatically regards them as not knowing what they are doing. He pre-ordered, he's having an amazing time, how does that come close to the Cyberpunk debacle? Clearly you don't understand plain English.
@@StanslaMichael Pre-ordering never provides a benefit to the consumer. And in a lot of cases the game that you pre-ordered may be good and you would have bought it anyway, but you're always needless risking your money when you pre-order. Also many companies have used pre-ordering to cover their ass so if they put out a subpar product they'll still make a profit even after being exposed in reviews With that being said, as huge fan of nier automata I'm really glad this game turned out to be good.
@@StrengthScholar0 The biggest reason I will pre-order things is because there's a possibility I may not have the money in the bank to buy it day one for whatever reason. Also because if I'm pre-ordering a physical copy, it's already set aside and there's no risk of me not getting one. I don't pre-order new franchises tho. I only pre-order existing franchises where I would have bought the game day one, regardless of if it's shit or not, because I would have wanted to experience it. With Nier Replicant, you kind of already knew what you were getting into. I mean any upgrade is better than the original lmao. Even if they somehow fucked it up, the fact that I can actually play it natively at 60 fps and not on an emulator is enough. The story is the main thing. Another example of something I would pre-order is Final Fantasy XIV expansions, because you literally have to buy them to progress through the game. I would be buying them regardless of if they're shit or not, because I have no choice. Plus with those, if you don't pre-order, you have to wait longer while everyone else is participating in the early access beta. In that case, you run the risk of getting spoiled in the time you have to wait. The same applies to waiting a few days for reviews and stuff to come out. It's just fun experiencing the game with everyone else at the same time. Someone has to be the sacrificial lamb so that the people buying later know if it's worth it after all. The way I see it, if you were going to buy it day one the moment it comes out, you run pretty much the same risk as you do pre-ordering. If pre-orders didn't exist, that's exactly what people would be doing, and is literally what happens with games that don't have pre-orders. Anyways, my point is that pre-orders have reasons to exist. If people want to take risks, let them. It's not hurting you. Many people just want to get payment out of the way so that they can play a game they would have bought day one anyway. Pre-orders often also let you pre-load, which a lot of people see as a plus so that they can play as soon as it unlocks. This is especially the case for those of us with slow internet, where downloading would take hours--if not an entire day.

As someone who has played Automata, hasn't had any way to play the original though really wanting to, and has already put 18 hours into this remake. Yes, I'm loving it.
The one thing I would warn about: make sure you save often and in multiple slots. The game has a point where it cuts you off from the first part of the game making it impossible to complete any quests you didn’t finish. I fell into that trap and had to start from scratch…
NieR was originally released for the 360, or NieR Gestalt, NieR Replicant was released for the PS3 and was Japan exclusive. The game is called NieR, and to make the difference between the brother and father characters one is called Gestalt and the other Replicant. Replicant didn't leave Japan so there was no need to to give a subtitle to the worldwide release.
Maybe people imported it? . I have NTSC games for 360 though it was hit and miss if they worked at all in PAL regions lol. I wasted quite a lot of money back then unable to resell the game after i found out it didn't work. There wasn't much notifications on the Internet at that time either like there would be today. I still have a sealed copy of NTSC Fallout New Vegas for 360. I bought 2 copies at the time and they were both NTSC although i thought i ordered them as PAL .
@@EdElric15652000 There is no real explanation, there are just weapons / items to be found within Automata which have descriptions referencing both the brother and the father as if both stories happened. One explanation might be within the Drakengard lore which is the base for the Nier games and the idea of multiple endings leading to various canon time lines. Think of it as some kind of multiverse.
Honestly, this was possibly the best game review I've ever seen... Falcon did an exceptional job. Other game channels like IGN ARE good, but they sometimes lack a sense of personality and relation. I felt like Falc was an old friend of mine telling me about a game I should try out 😅 Nice job Gameranx✌
@@TheMarshallayoung Yeah, I think that may be true. I think it's because the panel of reviewers at IGN are not gamers, they are professionals who excel in broadcasting, tv personality, etc. Obviously, Jake, Falcon and the team at Gameranx ARE real, down to earth gamers...
@@sanictheedgehog that is not what I meant. The online reviewers like IGN (I personally don't rely on their opinion on any games) have all done the game dirty when it came out. Those assholes just finished the first playthrough and just called it quits, in order to put out there review out there first. Most people don't even know about the others 5 main endings. Without which the entire experience is diminished. I didn't even know how good it was until a month ago when I bought the game.
So... with Automata, the side quest played an important roll into showing the player the "state" of the world (and history), and really helps pull you into the entire experience. IMO, the side quest in Automata are crucial to the overall experience. So Replicant doesn't have this affect at all, or not until later on, based on this preview?
You just need to make sure you get every weapon in the game before you finish Route C. That includes quests where you are rewarded weapons obviously, as well as ones picked up off the ground. There's a few helpful guides online just be wary as some put fucking spoilers in the articles. One article listed all 5 Route endings BEFORE getting to the part talking about getting all the weapons. Which was so stupid. There are a few interesting quests that do help to expand on the lore of the world, the Lighthouse keeper quest line is one of them. Again, go check out a quest guide online. I'd say 80% of the side quests in Replicant aren't important at all story or lore wise.
About a year ago ago, I played Automata, my first Nier game. Loved it, was blown away, etc. Soon after, I bought Replicant. But I didn't open it. Very soon after that, I bought Elden Ring... Everything else went on hold. After 900+ hours in Elden Ring, I finally ejected the disk today and inserted Replicant for the first time. I'm a few hours in, and delighted. Pressing basically all the wrong buttons though because of ER, 😂 but this is going to be loads of fun, clearly.
Loved the original, having a load of fun with this one. One thing I would change about what you said, there are SOME side quests you HAVE to do. I'm order to get endings C, D, and E you need to collect all the weapons, some of which are locked behind side quests.
*I liked how Falcon talked about the game being outdated in parts (I'm glad that it is) and when he talks about the presentation, nearly always cuts to the hot female characters.* 😭
This is why I prefer Gameranx for mainstream game reviews. Who at IGN can say they've played, or even liked original NIER, or Drakengard for that matter. This feels like a much more authentic voice to someone who cares about games (even though you basically only cover AAA titles)
@Hannah El-Sayad spoken like a true simp he says the same shit over and over never once bad mouths a game or company so he can get all the goodies of companies for free!
Honestly, a game that is considered 'slow and simple ' in this day and age is genuinely a breath of fresh air. Though I could be being biased because I loved Nier when it released.
Easily one of my favourite games of the 360/PS3 versions and one of my most treasured of all time. I came to watch the review after finding out it's going on Plus soon as I never played this remake/remaster. I'm really glad they didn't change it up too much and I'll definitely be replaying it now. The original Nier was one of a very few games in my 20+ years of gaming that made me cry, and it did it twice. Won't spoiler anything, but I'm sure veterans will know at least one of the sadder parts. Best soundtrack I've ever heard as well, at least original soundtracks. That's what initially kept me playing a decade ago when the game started off a bit dull, purely the music made me play on - then it just gets better and better and better. Definitely get this if you've never played it and come to this review after finding out it's coming to Plus, it's a masterpiece of story telling. Can't believe Falcon called Kaine "Kane" though 😂 especially if he's played it. It's pronounced almost like Kanye, aka the rapper that would do well in 1930's Germany. Surely he'd know that if he had indeed played through it 3-5 times?
I bought this game last night and played the first 20 mins.. I never finished nier automata which i still need too.. This game seems very awesome and that music... Whoa lol
Same as me, never finished Automata and planned to before this but with this being before Automata I thought why not just get this and pick up where I left off later, can’t wait to get into it
I'm playing Replicant right now as my intro to the series and I must say. Story has made me cry more than once and I just hit the big half-shift. Slightly repetitive gameplay but this is shaping up to be something really special.
@@yamapishy9792 I think it is! But I only played Replicant first hehe. I am playing Automata now and I LOVED Replicant. Very emotional story, can get intense at times. For me it's one of the best experiences I've had in gaming. Make sure you do all 5 endings if you play, have fun!
I see the Yoko Taro master plan now. He made Automata, which was a lot lighter (more depressing than horrible) in its themes, and even had a positive message. With platinum on board, he made a game that could really hit big, and it did. But what he really wants is for his older games to get popular, so now he starts a series of remastermakes ('version upgrades'), which are sure to sell well thanks to the renown from Automata. Now, he needs to do Draknegaard series, especially 3, and his inner emotional vampire of confusion and horror is sure to be sated, as more people will experience the 'fun' stories of mass murderers, dragon lovers, ra*ists and all the other fun characters! Truly genius. Now, back to Nier v.122... time to attend this wonderful wedding in the mask people city. Im sure it will be THRILLING! ;)
I played nier automata first and absolutely loved the music and characters. played the side quests in that game and figured out some more story of the bots. after playing replicsnt, I now know the story behind the music and even more sadness behind the characters and the outfits and I absolutely freaking love it. to me, it's one of the best game franchises out there.
I appreciate him going the extra mile to pronounce basically every character's name wrong lol. I was waiting to hear him pronounce "Nier" as "Nigh-ear."
I played the original and actually liked it. I didnt know much about it prior to purchasing it, I just bought it on a whim. I sold all my PS3 games a while ago, so I ended up getting Replicant on sale on Steam, as well as Automata. Looking forward to playing through both of them!
To anyone new to this game the timing of quest and side quest does matter for those looking to get all endings, get the platinum or 100% the game with minimal replay and reload. Great game and rewarding platinum.
Nier series is an absolute master class in storytelling through gameplay... One of the only games that actually does that unlike those cinematic Hollywood style games we get from the States... Ppl should learn from it...
@@MarkHogan994 plus every time he said “automata” as “auto mot uh” instead of “aw tom uh tuh” just caused actual pain to my brain. i actually stopped watching it, then forgot why i didn’t finish the vid, only to come back and be like, “oh. right. auto mot uh.”. it’s the plural to automaton, and it’s pronunciation is derived from said singular form. aw tom uh ton. aw tom uh tuh. easy!!! sorry. it just drives me nuts!😅
It’s important to note that (I assume it’s similar to automata), I’ve never played Replicant, but “Multiple Playthroughs” in this game is not like any other game. You are not playing the same game again. You continue your side quests and the game in the same timeline, but just another character or perspective. I feel like saying “multiple playthroughs” is misleading when this game is considered. It is the reason I never played Automata until I learned otherwise.

To me this game is perfect. Automata was a better game, but there's something about this one that keeps drawing me back which is where automata fails for me.
When I played the original Nier on my Xbox I played the one with an older player character since I’m American. In japan the version I played was called Nier: Gestalt. I wish that this remake allowed you to choose whether you played the younger or older player character so that I could properly attempt to recapture my original experience.
What do you mean set aside? His game is Gelstalt, this isn't nieR Gestalt. This is NieR replicant aka not his game. By that logic, then Brother Nier was set aside for 11 whole years.
Not to mention if you beat the game first time and get the Mother's Diary, you can play as Papa Nier in a pseudo version of the game. Just read her diary when playing the 2nd time around during Kaine's story plot.
I've been sitting on this purchase for a while because it's a ludicrously expensive game in local currency but with how much I ADORE the original NieR soundtrack (played on the PS3, not XBox), hearing that the arrangements here are improvements is just dirty in the best possible way.
i like how the western 360 version had a muscle manly version of the protagonist to cater to an American audience. Like what other game has ever done that?
So far I've been playing it with my sister and having known and studied some background to nier, drakengard, etc i really learned to be patient in the start, and really appreciate what the game has made me feel so far. its nice to be able to finally experience a story I had to go through videos to understand in the past
I feel...I feel ashamed for not playing the original and that this is the perfect time to make up for that. I absolutely love Nier: Automata and according to some Replicant has an even better story making it the best video game story ever. Regardless of whether it's actually better than Automata or not, it's something that I need to experience, and I thank you for not spoiling any of it.
imagine, imagining that there is only one accent and one way of speaking on earth. either that or i take it of course that you played the game in Japanese without english subtitles and are referring therefore to the actual names?
@@cystarkman It has nothing to do with accents. The name is simply not pronounced "Kane", not in English or in Japanese. In both languages the voice actors very clearly pronounce the name multiple times. It's not "Kane", no matter what language you played in, and no matter what accent you may have. Besides which this reviewer has an American accent identical to many of the characters in the game, including Kainé.
@@cystarkman Dawg Falcon does this on dozens of videos with tons of main character names that are voiced, in english, in-game, plenty of times. Many of these games he claims to be "a fan" of the game series and attempting to speak from a place of experience. Its either intentional so more people will comment, or he's extremely bad at his job at reading other people's scripts
I really wish everyone would stop comparing this game to Nier Automata. This game came out before Automata was a droplet in Taro's nutsack! This game is a truly fantastic masterpiece! It's an older game, remade partially, of COURSE it's going to have older RPG issues (tedious side quests, longer tutorial intros). Is this the best game ever? No, but it was swept under the rug back in 2009/10 and needs it's moment to shine! It's a great game, don't expect Automata quality, that game is 8 years newer and on an entirely different console generation.
I've played the original and never gave a shit about it as a game, the thing that stuck with me the most is the music and story, being listening to the OST since its release and still love it to this day. This one kinda didn't do the OST very well compared to the original, but I can still take it
Honestly I probably played the first 12 hours of Automata and was furious that "I just spent 60 dollars on a ZELDA GAME" but then the roller coaster took off so to speak... now it's a 10/10. Can't wait to play this one.
I'm just excited to play a game that I never got to play as Nier Replicant never came out here in the States. I vaguely remember playing Nier but it's been so long that Replicant is a breath of fresh air. I can agree that it certainly starts off slow but I'll stick with it because I KNOW that things will ramp up over time.
I playd the Demo for Automata on PS4. And i remember just downloading it because i was bored and there was actually a Demo to try so i went with it. And i was supprised by how enjoyable the combat was. Now i didn't actually buy the game game because i wasn't sure if it would actually be my kind of game. But again, the demo worked for me. And i even kept the demo on my PS4 for a good while because of how enjoyable it was. So i'm considering giving this a go when the price drops just slightly. And if i enjoy this i'll buy Automata as well. My mindset is that it's probably easyer to go from the original to the sequel rather than from the sequel to the original. Mostly because taking steps back can feel horrible unless you playd it before. So we'll see. Looked up how long it is just to get an idea. And i mean, if i can invest 100 Hours into a broken ass excuse of an AC game i can surely invest the hours it takes to beat this once. If not twice as well.
So did you end up getting replicant honestly I’m currently in your position I’ve learned the lore of Drakengard 3 up to NieR and I love the lore but I’m on the fence with these games I wanna get em but I don’t know if I’ll enjoy it (people have recommended starting with automata but I like to go in the timeline order so I can fully appreciate both games) the gameplay looks alright but idk if it’s my thing and I don’t want to waste my money but with Replicant currently on a 50% discount I’m considering if I should get it and what are your thoughts did you enjoy Replicant/Automata Ik this was posted a year ago but I hope you see this as I’d like to hear your opinion after you brought the games
Idk if he does it intentionally or not but I kinda like it, its like Falcon's unique signature... Pronouncing stuff amazingly wrong... Differentiates the mundane commentary you get from most Gameranx type channels...
I blew through the Act one in just 4 hours, I was doing a lot of side-quests as well, so I dunno what the problem is for real, the longest part for me is Act 2 since I'm on a quest for weapons, haven't even beat my first playthrough yet.
He pronounces it like 'cane' but Kaine's name is actually pronounced Kai-nay. Also, neat trivia fact. That long string of numbers in the games title is actually the Square Root of 1.5. So this is just a really quirky and tarosyncratic way of saying the game is Neir Replicant 1.5.

Wow that's amazing
Quick question , I have a nephew that is turning 4 this year so I figure it’s the proper time to really introduce him to actual video games (that’s the age in got my original Nintendo) what console did you start your daughter on?? I’m really just curious since this is my first time teaching someone a skill I’ve had since childhood and is second nature to me at this point . Should I just start him off on the old school stuff like I did then work him up to more difficult things?? Although certain old school games can be super hard too so .... 😂😂😂
@@mookiestewart3776 hello mookie I hope you doing well I started playing video games when I was 6 I started with a simple games like mario and pac man and then went to the harder and more serious stuff go easy on your child and then step by step introduce her to more difficult and complex stuff
I'm hoping they remaster the Drakenguard games. The first game was released all the way back in 03.
That would be nice, I'd love to play the beginning of the series if they give it the same treatment as Replicant.
Drakengard 3 would be so good if they remade it
04*
Drakenguard could use a fuckton of quality of life improvements, mainly of which is that damn fog
I don't even know why I'm here, I preordered and have no regrets. It's an amazing game
People haven't learned from cyberpunk huh
@@proto_shane5059 already played the original so I already knew what I was getting. Also Nier series is my most loved series so I will support it no matter what.
I also never bought Cyperpunk as it never looked good, unlike this, they showed enough to warrant preordering and supporting the developer.
@@proto_shane5059 I fail to see why someone's choice to pre-order, automatically regards them as not knowing what they are doing. He pre-ordered, he's having an amazing time, how does that come close to the Cyberpunk debacle? Clearly you don't understand plain English.
@@StanslaMichael
Pre-ordering never provides a benefit to the consumer. And in a lot of cases the game that you pre-ordered may be good and you would have bought it anyway, but you're always needless risking your money when you pre-order. Also many companies have used pre-ordering to cover their ass so if they put out a subpar product they'll still make a profit even after being exposed in reviews
With that being said, as huge fan of nier automata I'm really glad this game turned out to be good.
Ahh yes, CAIN & EMUL...

@Beelzebub_6th I guess I'll give it another try then
The one thing I would warn about: make sure you save often and in multiple slots.
Fun fact: Both games are canon in Automata.
I think the subtitle was just Yoko Tarro being himself
@@FelixS. can you explain how? I don’t really care for being spoiled as I’ve never played any of the games but I’m very intrigued.
He forgot to mention that Drakengard was the lead up to Nier replicant since Drakengard is part of the franchise.

I hope this game gets all the recognition it deserves, because Nier Automata is the most underrated masterpiece I've ever played.

It’s important to note that (I assume it’s similar to automata), I’ve never played Replicant, but “Multiple Playthroughs” in this game is not like any other game. You are not playing the same game again. You continue your side quests and the game in the same timeline, but just another character or perspective. To me this game is perfect. Automata was a better game, but there's something about this one that keeps drawing me back which is where automata fails for me.
This game is perfect yet "Automata was a better game"? What?
When I played the original Nier on my Xbox I played the one with an older player character since I’m American. In japan the version I played was called Nier: Gestalt. I wish that this remake allowed you to choose whether you played the younger or older player character so that I could properly attempt to recapture my original experience.
I'm just hurt that Papa Nier has been set aside for familiar Western fans.
A little grape from the vine tree said he might be coming back in a DLC or something of that nature
Papa NieR ftw
30 minutes into the game and its awesome. Controls are very similar to Automata which is a plus for me.
Have a nice day everyone reading this. May positive things comes to your way.

So did you end up getting replicant honestly I’m currently in your position I’ve learned the lore of Drakengard 3 up to NieR and I love the lore but I’m on the fence with these games I wanna get em but I don’t know if I’ll enjoy it (people have recommended starting with automata but I like to go in the timeline order so I can fully appreciate both games) the gameplay looks alright but idk if it’s my thing and I don’t want to waste my money but with Replicant currently on a 50% discount I’m considering if I should get it and what are your thoughts did you enjoy Replicant/Automata Ik this was posted a year ago but I hope you see this as I’d like to hear your opinion after you brought the games
how do you pronounce every name wrong when the characters constantly refer to each other by name lmao
Low IQ?
Emeel, kai ney, no way, err ris, man uh, kai mmmm, zeee ro, etc
everytime he said “automata” it hurt my brain
americans..
Idk if he does it intentionally or not but I kinda like it, its like Falcon's unique signature... Pronouncing stuff amazingly wrong... Differentiates the mundane commentary you get from most Gameranx type channels...
The mispronunciations of "Automata" and the character's names really grinded my gears
I blew through the Act one in just 4 hours, I was doing a lot of side-quests as well, so I dunno what the problem is for real, the longest part for me is Act 2 since I'm on a quest for weapons, haven't even beat my first playthrough yet.
Automata made me cry hoping this one does too
He pronounces it like 'cane' but Kaine's name is actually pronounced Kai-nay. Also, neat trivia fact. That long string of numbers in the games title is actually the Square Root of 1.5. So this is just a really quirky and tarosyncratic way of saying the game is Neir Replicant 1.5.
It makes... so much sense now. Dammit yoko taro that’s so dumb but I love it.
I already bought it on thursday. I'm four hours into the game and love it.
Gameranx: "we have some history with the series"
Proceeds to pronounce Kainé's, Weiss' and Emil's names wrong
And also says farming is a new addition to the remaster when it was in the original 😭
Thank you mo one was talling about this.. I lost allt of respect for falcon and this channel for hom out right lying.
@@thewitchertales I would just give them then benefit of doubt I mean the original game was had so bugs, issues and was so long ago that forgetting things here or there isn't such a stretch
Kanye west is in the game?
So Kainé is Cane ... okay
Bought it, twice. The Nier series Is fucking great. Automata in particular actually had an effect on my life outside of videogames, it was powerful stuff man.
I came from a mighty keef video and was curious about this game.
video suggestion
Games with side quests when done make you super over powered
Is it good?
We know that this game will have tons of drama , and the end is going to SAD AS FUCK ... But we gonna buy it anyways
Ah yes, my 2 favorite NieR:Replicant characters, Cain and E-mol 🥰
I'm making a funny playthrough of NieR Replicant Can You Check It Out??
