Thank you so much! Yeah, the drone thing was a bummer, but not sad about upgrading to a Mavic Pro, haha! The whole family has been sick for pretty much all of December, but we should be going out and filming soon!
It was nice meeting y’all this weekend, Cant wait to see the video of Trail 26. Our group ended up running 35, 22, down 27 and back up 26. It was a full day. We didn’t get over to 51, We talked to a few people on the radio and they all said it was super crowded. Also If y’all are around Uwharrie is the next couple week send me a message if y’all want some company.
It was so good meeting you as well! We were torn about going with a group instead of just heading to the BOH trails, but it was a blast, regardless! We are working on the 26 video now, and it should drop in a few days! We might just have to make a special trip to Uwharrie.....just to hang out with you! 😆....it's only 56 minutes from our house, so we won't have to drive far!
listen I've crash more than I can count. My first go at YT was an FPV page lol. i'm working on bringing the two together! KloudFPV -this is how I like to fly drones!! so ya...i've crashed a lot haha.@@GoCarolinaWild
It technically still is, lol. We just do a lot of camping on trails (which is overlanding), so we just stuck with the theme. But you can call it off-roading or 4-wheeling, considering we didn't tow our house down the trail with us.😆
Great adventure. Had a hawk attack our drone once. Didn't capture footage, I guess I hit stop record in my hurry to get it down. Was a crazy experience , lol. Luckily , it just swooped at it a few times, and once low enough, it left. No damage. Have a good one.
Windrock is one of our favorite places to ride. We now take the hard roads around to Trail 51 so we have more time on the trails. Sadly, it was much nicer before they started logging the top section. Trail 53 is very scenic up above 51 as well. Don’t feel too bad about the drone, it happens. I crashed our Air 2 into a limb and it fell to the ground trashing the main board. Obstacle avoidance does have issues with smaller limbs. I now have the insurance on our replacement.
We totally underestimated what Windrock actually is. It is hard to put into perspective how massive and intricate the trail systems really are. We believe that this, as of now, is one of our favorite East Coast places to ride! It was definitely a heart-sinking moment watching the drone fall out of the sky! One way or the other, you will always learn some sort of lesson while out on the trails. For this trip, the lesson was to make sure we have insurance on the drone. 🫣 Thank you so much for the comment!!
Definitely agree with your assessment of Windrock. I feel your pain. Some of the best lessons in life are the most painful. 😅 what drone did you get for a replacement? I’m thinking about getting either the mini 3 or 4. My Air 2 adds a lot of bulk to my bag.
Hey, thank you for the reply! You are 100% right. The drones definitely have a hard time seeing branches without leaves on them. We just have to be a little more aware of what's around the drone, and hopefully, we won't wreck the new one!

Hope you got epic footage with that 🤑loss. Can’t wait to see part 2.
The last drone shot on the video was the last for the Air 3. You can see the branches come into frame. Then it went to black 😒

We have the Opus OP4 pop-up camper

I think my pride was more damaged than the drone. lol
Sadly drones don't always avoid specially in the fall the small branches aren't always enough for it to see. Sorry u lost ur guys
