Firstly DO NOT try to go down the side of the cliff to reach the basin, if I’m remembering correctly there’s a kill box there. If you want to get to town just head straight from the climb you’re next to and you’ll find another to climb up. My only other advice is to watch out for the wolves cause there’s a lot of them and they tend to wander into town. Oh and that view next to the cave system is also unreachable.
Sadly you can’t wear two moose hide satchels so you’re better off making a coat.
You might also want to not put poor condition food in containers as they will despawn if they become ruined. You can still use ruined food for cooking though.
I didn’t really comment on what you said about the cougar because I thought it should’ve been implemented in a similar way

@@beastvision2182 Yep or shimmy down the snow next to the fallen tree bridge if possible, so long as there’s a slight slope you can do this (at the risk of sprains of course). This is referred as “goating” by other players and can help with shortcuts.
Or you can climb down it’s your choice :)
I’ll only mention killboxs when they’re present in a region, though they tend to be where you’d expect in the older regions (like the ravine for example), they’re a relic of an older version of the game from before rope climbing to stop players from getting stuck. They’re completely absent from all the newer regions because the devs took this ability to hug slopes into account in designing them.
