The fact that she shot the grave scene at her grandpa's grave makes it much more intimate and authentic and I already love the movie!
She’s right. The film would have been lost at Netflix or Amazon. I’m glad she picked A24.
A24 has done great movies, glad her film was picked by A24.
Very true, because even like someone with Noah Baumbach and Martin Scorsese whonare getting Oscar buzz, they were already brands
I hope this gets put on Netflix though. This film should be seen by everyone.
Brave to refuse a much higher offer. It worked out.
Nobody:
Martin Scorsese:🤣😂🤣
scorsese is a bit like a funny uncle, he is nodding his head and saying "yeah... yuh" while simultaneousely breaking out in laughter.
Lulu Wang's intelligence shines through. I think i'm in love with her
The Farewell is my favorite movie of 2019 and I love Lulu. I could listen to her talk for days, she has such a refreshing take on filmmaking and storytelling.
She’s awesome, a person of colour who works their hardest even though the odds are so against her. The farewell was brilliant and I hope she gets so many roles
The Farewell is on my top 5 of 2019 list and it's easily one of the best of the year.
Yi Yi is the perfect companion piece to The Farewell. It had an influence on Wang and it's available on UA-cam if anyone wants to watch it.
Edward Yang is a legend! I haven't seen Farewell, but comparing it to Yi Yi is indeed high praise!! Can't wait to check it out now.
@@sayakchoudhury9711 the connections it has with Yi Yi are very apparent and that's not a bad thing in the slightest!
@@sayakchoudhury9711 and Edward Yang really is a master. I don't know how anyone watch A Brighter Summer Day and not think that they're watching one of the greatest films ever made.
@@ongogablogian I didn't say it's a bad thing!!! I said 'high praise'!!
@@sayakchoudhury9711 sorry mate, I didn't mean to insinuate that. I just know that sometimes inspiration can be mistaken for plagiarism. Cheers
The Farewell was such a beautiful heartwarming poignant movie. Loved it. Lula and more women like her we need ! More power.
I truly felt inspired when she explained her main motivations as a filmmaker. She's fucking LEGIT.
Love Lulu Wang!! I hope this movie opens more doors and opportunities for her to make more great films 💜
Poor tree
"Living trees were harmed in the production of this film."
When does the full roundtable get released?
January 5th
She's awesome!
This is awesome man
Goat
Is there a full video anywhere?
It’s a film like this that deserves all the awards not joker lol
Why not both of them?
Both of them are amazing films.
Both are amazing films.. you can compliment a movie without putting others down
Rahel Abayakoon why do you have to put down one film to elevate another? I hate how people always get snobbish when it comes to comic book movies. Philips made a comic book film that was unlike anything we have gotten in the genre before and people loved it. Including me, and it while I recognize it’s flaws it’s definitely my favorite of the year
Faisal Bones I’m not putting joker down, I just didn’t like the movie
1:26 what is she doing? is she high?
asdfghjkl9260 I think she was raising her hand to speak but they just don’t have her speaking here but prob on the full round table
Farewell was easily one of my favorite films this year.
Top 5 this year
Agreed. It's an incredible, beautiful film.
Films like The Farewell are so rare nowadays!
Watch the movies of Yasujirô Ozu, Edward Yang, and Hirokazu Koreeda if you want more of this type of filmmaking
WOLF STAR
Here in the USA yes, but just look at other foreign. Films like parasite
Alex Mirrors lol parasite is one of the most popular movies in the US right now
Ussishkin Gang
Parasite made 23 million here in the U.S and 100 million in Korea
PietreADI I’m just saying it’s popular
The scene at Grandfather’s grave was so wonderful, a snapshot of a squabbling, loving family.
She's beautiful
I did not know who she was when I watched the full directors rountable but I found her the most captivating. She's very interesting.
I'm totally in love with her now :)
I love The Farewell so much! Many parts of it could've been taken from my own life and it was amazing seeing that on the screen for the first time
LuLu Wang is great.
that's lulu! she pretty here :)
scorsese is so wholesome in this.
Lulu is soo smart and creative, the farewell was brilliant and I’m really excited to see what she does next
Lulu’s point on independent studios and the concept on branding with netflix was sucha profound point. I think it often gets unnnoticed in the filmmaking industry is that youre trying to get your film established but you need to understand how does the market works before you can distribute either on streaming service or finding a studio to distribute the film successfully
really great perspective 🧠
Drop the whole video please 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
What a lovely, smart, beautiful woman.
I like this one.
I LOOOVED your movie Lulu 💝. A story told in pictures, not in voice over. Differences explained through natural dialogue. Context adorned with cultural nuances. I watch foreign movies to learn about societies I can't afford to travel to. Thank you for the experience.
Noah Baumbach made a remarkable film, and has a unique artistic voice .
However, he is a pretty nasty human being. I remember visiting the Lincoln center where he was invited to talk about his previous film, The Meyerowitz Stories, he was so rude to the journalists and to the audience members who who were asking questions. I wondered he was having a bad day, but after seeing a few of his interviews, I figured that he is just a tragic human being: there is nothing that justifies such conduct.Pretentious and Privileged- that’s what he is!
Not surprised. Noah Baumbach is hypocrite and rude. He deserves nothing because he's nothing but pretentious asshole.
From all the interviews he seems like a good person to me. He is introvert, maybe sometimes he behaves weirdly because of that. I want to believe what I see through my own eyes. I don't want to believe that someone in love with Greta Gerwig is a 'nasty' person.
Release the whole thing u cowards!
2:20 - 3:00
This was in New York?
原来年纪这么大拉
Greta Gerwig was getting on my nerves in this clip why cant she just let this women share her POV without butting in ugh
I don't know what you are complaining about. I really liked when Gerwig was showing sympathy towards Lulu during the grandfather's grave story.
Why do directors have to be a brand?
To get funding to make more movies
I don’t know, why do athletes have to be a brand?
