Truly astonishing - why isn't television this well written or intelligent (or epic, emotionally and politically) anymore? Thanks to efforts by monty (and dreamybluemeany), this kind of work isn't lost and is posted for others to see and appreciate - well done, chaps!
Many thanks. I first saw this when I was 16 and it's been great seeing it again (and getting much more out of it 20 years later). As for what compares to it now, it's pretty much HBO in the USA who have picked up the baton with the likes of The Wire - UK tv is in a depressing nadir these days.
Brilliant. I too saw this the first time round but was too naive to appreciate its significance and Alan Bleasdale's succinct, ironic, acutely sad, yet comedic observations. Thank you for giving us this monty and dreamy, am in total agreement with ukdeejay . My only request would be for a full version of Boys from the Black stuff.
absolutely brilliant. I remember watching it when it was first on TV and it was great to watch it again. Thanks for posting. Does anyone recommend anything similar? If you loved this then you've also got to watch "Our Friends in the North"
What a fantastic political series, 9/10 from me. Michael Palin and Robert Lindsay were great and even Lindsay Duncan, funny her first name is Roberts second name. Big Thanks to Monty for finishing the uploads that Meany did not.
