    I stumbled upon this video, and fell in love with your custom.
    You articulated everything I didn’t like about the AC#1000 Supes, but couldn’t put my finger on.
    I immediately found both Infected and Rebirth Supes on eBay and will do the kit bash.
    I even ordered the Vallejo colors to make sure I match the red perfectly. 1:1 mix ratio is easy peasey, so I’ll be good there. I usually use P3 Skorne Red for all reds, but I’m unsure if it’ll match. I guess I could have just looked at my AC#1000 Supes…oh well!
    Great work!!

      Thank you very much! I definitely plan to keep on making more, and I'm glad that you really liked this one and are going to make one for yourself. Definitely was worth the effort in my opinion. And yeah the paint mix gets very very close, like unless I'm looking at it with a microscope I can't really tell the difference so it's fine with me haha. I really like that new Black Adam page punchers Superman and I imagine I'll be doing some work with that one soon too. good luck with yours and let me know if you have any questions!

      Thank you very much. Yeah I just wanted one that had a physique that looked more the way I picture Superman looking. action Comics always seemed a little skinny to me, and the rebirth Superman body always seemed way too big. and then putting the action Comics head on the rebirth body and did you up with a body that's too big and a head that's too small which is why I mixed them.

      To each their own, I know people would lose their mind for that. I actually have a Reeve head that I haven't painted yet...... But like I said to each their own, and Reeve is not my Superman. To be honest I don't actually care much for his portrayal nor do I care for the movies around the portrayal. Especially anything after the first one. Everyone complains about man of steel, but in Superman 2, he flat out murders a guy with a smile on his face and then brags to lex luthor about it and basically threatens him with the same fate if he should ever cross him again, not out loud, but he damn sure implied it. 😂😂😂😂🤮

      Ah! Not for that, I would need to actually compete him.... Which due to the move I'm undergoing currently, I have not done yet. I DO however have all of the tools, pieces, and paint for the job, and he'll be one of the next ones I work on, hopefully. Now, I just need to go pick him up from the storage unit.....

    Nice work and agreed that's the perfect Superman.. but just too expensive to buy 3 figures in order to get him..

    • @VoidCityReviews
      @VoidCityReviews  2 роки тому +2

      I won't disagree that a lot of my customs are a little bit costly. But at the same time I have never been one to not be willing to spend a few extra dollars to get the figure I really want. Buying loose on eBay helps a lot of the time, or clearance at Target...

      Me too! My current set up didn't have a great spot for them, and many more of move are still on the boxes rather than out and displayed right now... That's one thing that I hope moving will fix, when I come up with a new setup, I'll be able to actually display them ALL now.

    I Did the same exact kitbash but I didn't like the length of the torso and how it went together so I snipped off the ac1000 balljoint drilled a hole and used the balljoint from the rebirth/infected superman, it gave it some much needed length and range of movement!

    • @VoidCityReviews

      I think I may have done something similar in the New 52 Superman figure... Still can't remember though ha ha! Yeah that definitely would be a better way to do it probably than I did, although with a Dremel, it would be way easier and quicker (carving out inside of the chest so there's more room), and achieve the same result. I guess it's up to the customize which method they have the tools for. A lot of the time too, I'm basically experimenting and trying new methods to see what works and what doesn't, which is another reason why I say do it one way on one figure, then completely different for another figure. I love kitbahsing these figures. It's relatively easy compared to a lot of other figures, although the new ankles and wrists will make it a little harder, maybe.

    I tried the Vallejo paints you suggested after priming with Tamiya spray primer. I then used Mr. Hobby Super Clear Matt. Even though the color was a great match, the paint and finish never really to dry. I used the airbrush version of the paints with a lttle flow improver. How sturdy are the boots you painted? I had to strip it all down and now back to square one. Any thoughts? The Edge of the lower legs where it meets the ankle joints were particularly problematic, with the paint either "bunching up" or outright kind of rubs or "soft chips" off.

      I'm sorry to hear you had issues with it. But you also mentioned using multiple other products with your paints that I didn't use, or using different paints completely than I did. I can't really help you there on that one because I'm not sure why they failed. You did wash the figure first, correct? Before you started painting it all? And you let all of your layers completely cure and dry before adding more layers? If the primer wasn't completely set that could have been a problem, same with putting the clear coat or the matte coat on top of the acrylics, if nothing was dry yet. That's all I can really think of other than there being mold release agent still on the figure that wasn't washed off that ruined the paint. I have yet to have a problem with these paints on these figures. I don't use primer.
      I will have an updated version of this Superman sort of, and a newer video coming soon, and it does not require repainting of the boots. It actually doesn't require paint really of any kind. That's the best part of it. That video will be up soon. In the meantime, again I'm sorry to hear that you had issues with this, however it does sound like both times you did it you did it completely differently than I did, so unfortunately I can't really do anything other than guests at what the issue could have been like I did above. I hope it works out in the end though. And if it doesn't, I hope the new video I put up for the newer version of this superman, will help you out.

    What brand paints do you use. Do you have to mix them, to make the colors match? Or are you able to find nearly exact matches?

    • @VoidCityReviews
      @VoidCityReviews  7 місяців тому

      Hi! So I mainly use Vallejo paints. I do mix them usually, to try and match as best as I can. They mix well. Sometimes though, the straight color from the bottle works without needing to mix them. Just depends on what needs painting that day.

    • @CaptainHavfun-lp4ok
      @CaptainHavfun-lp4ok 7 місяців тому +1

      YOU RULE! Thanks for answering. I was actually about to order a set of Vallejo Paints. Do you use acrylic? I've heard their stuff is very thick, and needs less coats. They don't water their paints down, like others. You're the second person who recommended them. I really like your work. You're very good.@@VoidCityReviews

    • @VoidCityReviews
      @VoidCityReviews  7 місяців тому +1

      @@CaptainHavfun-lp4ok thank you very much!! yes I use the acrylic paints. I wouldn't say they are thick per se, as in they don't spread thick or feel thicker than other paints, but they do apply more opaquely I guess would be a better way to say it. You do need less coats. I typically use just one or two tops. And usually only a second one if I have to. just make sure you gently wash your figure first with some dish soap and water and rinse it off very well and let it dry before you apply any kind of paint to it. yeah I have several of their paint sets. One of the ones that has a bunch of different colors, and I also got the set that has a bunch of different skin tones because that's definitely an area where you usually have to do some mixing in order to match existingand having multiple skin tones really helps rather than having to do it from straight up different colors.

      Here's something kind of funny. I couldn't find the right purple for Tobiz Joker from 89. But I saw nail polis that matched it. It was also already glossy. Restored it to how it looked in 89. I'll buy Vallejo. Yes, flesh paint is hard to find. I need to order more. The lightest flesh color I have, doesn't match many Henry Cavill figures. His skin is very fair. Almost white on some figures.@@VoidCityReviews

    • @VoidCityReviews
      @VoidCityReviews  7 місяців тому

      @@CaptainHavfun-lp4ok it's interesting you should say that, and here's something kind of funny right back at you. Right now, one of my biggest paint challenges actually is about to be a Henry Cavill figure. I have a custom head for this figure that is pre-painted, the thing looks like a miniature photograph of his face. It's very well done. Only problem is, just like all of his other action figures, he has very light skin, and the body that I'm using for him has a lot darker skin, so I'm going to have to paint the whole torso. Not looking forward to it, hahaha!
      I have gotten some nail polish to use for some figures before, I just haven't been able to use it yet.I got a very specific color for a very specific custom I would like to do, but it also requires I get one of those UV lights in order to set the nail polish. That should be an interesting experiment....
