    Can you please do an updated video on wearable pumps? I’d like to hear your thoughts on these pumps as well as other wearables now that willow go has been out for a while. It would be awesome to see a video of wearable pumps like you have for portable pumps comparing them best to worst in different categories!

    I got the willow go and so far have been really happy with it! My 5th son that was born in Dec has been having milk transfer issues but with having 5 kids I needed something mobile to have any hope of pumping with any consistency. So far I like it and I feel like the spectra and I get about the same output.

      @@tehziashaheen5714for my spectra, the fridge hack works great! I pumped every 2 hours and it helped out so I didn't need to clean after every pump. It's where you put your flange/bottles in the refrigerator between pumps rather than cleaning after each use. It's not recommended by cdc. Obviously cleaning after each use is more sanitary and the better option if you have the time. I used it while working to save some time.

    I need the suction, which puts Willow brand above Elvie for me. Elvie stride is out - if I want to deal with tubes, I'll use my regular pump. The Willow Go is my pic over Willow 3.0 because 1) You can move between stimulation and expression mode. I always have issues with my let down and the 3.0 didn't give the flexibility I need. 2) I don't want to use the app (I use Huckleberry so all my baby stuff is right there together). But I like that if needed I can see the suction level. (Big fail by Medela on their new pump that's replacing the pump in style ☹️). 3) The 3.0 had a lot of bad reviews with troubleshooting and error messages. Only two things to clean but they seemed to always throw an error. When I'm ready to pump, it's go time. No time for playing around with an error message. 4) I just need to be able to wash the dishes or change a diaper or watch the kids outside while pumping, I don't need to turn upside down while pumping or try to sleep while pumping. Plus 360 movement was only possible when using the bags with the 3.0, which are expensive. Willow Go is my pic over Elvie because 1) suction. (However, I found no matter what pump, it's gotta be TIGHT to get enough suction for me.) Otherwise they seem the same - same mobility, same pumping features. Elvie's app let's you operate the pump from the app, which women looking for discretion might like better. But again, I have no intention of using the app. And Willow Go has the option of buying larger storage, but really, I never pumped over 3 oz per breast. I always find it funny when women say they get 25 oz from one pumping session. Not sure what that's all about, but hasn't been the case for me.

    Thank you for this comparison. I was considering the Elvie original before watching this and now thinking I will purchase the Willow Go. I am curious though, I was recently reminded that I dealt with vasospasms with my first baby. I may have blocked out the trauma from that but from what I remember, it was worse when nursing than when I pumped. I have a Spectra S1 that I plan to use as my main pump for baby #2 and the Willow Go would be for convenience when not wanting to lug around the Spectra. You mention that the Elvie has a gentler suction than that of the Willow. Do you think that would be better should I be dealing with vasospasms again this time around?

    I hear a lot about how wearables are not good primary pumps because it doesn’t empty well, which I do understand! But is there research done to see what some of those factors are? Such as breast cup size, flange size, etc.? They always advertise as hospital grade so to a normal consumer it sounds the same as electric pumps so I am confused by all the options.

    Thanks for the review. I ended up selling the willow go. It weighed me down so much I had to really tighten my bra straps to keep the pumps in place then I just felt like I was stretching out and ruining my expensive nursing bras. I did like the suction. The other thing that annoyed me though was you can only turn it off and on and adjust the setting from the pump it’s self not the app. The app only tells you what setting you have it on and the time which isn’t very useful. I got the pump because I wanted to be more discreet but it’s not very discreet when I have to lift up my shirt to turn it on or adjust the settings. Im now considering the Elvie stride. I originally decided against it because of the tubes but now I think it will be nice to adjust the settings from a pump that is separate so I don’t have to worry about lifting up my shirt in public and also hoping it won’t be so bulky since it’s just the cups.

      I purchased the willow go a few days after it came out. So far I am having a great experience. I bought this pump because my newborn is having latch/milk transfer issues and I am pumping most of her milk. I'm using this pump at least 4 times a day. There are pros and cons though.
      Pros: No wires or tubes which is great if you are trying to care for a baby at the same time. It's also great for house work and in the car (while you aren't driving).
      The suction is pretty good and I get comparable milk output to my spectra S1 pump.
      Cons: it makes you look ridiculously busty and is hard to fit in some nursing bras. My husband giggled a bit and asked me to please never get implants after he saw it 🤣
      It is very hard to use compression/ breast massage with this pump so I am alternating with the spectra pump I have.
      Cleaning it and drying it multiple times a day is time consuming.

      Hospital grade isn’t really thing, and I definitely wouldn’t classify the elvie stride in the same category as a pump found in a hospital.
      The pump is pretty good, but small and likely won’t hold up to heavy use. Paired with the cups makes it even tricker to get right.
      If you’re just pumping occasionally, it’s likely just fine! Heavy use though I’d be a little worried about it doing a good enough job. Works for some people though!

    I really liked the Elvie stride though. I’m wondering now if the stride cups will work with another mobile pump, like the Duette or genie advanced.
    Or maybe I should buy the willow….I need a hands free pump for work.

    Ok..so..iknow the elvie curve/haakaa are essentially manual pumps. But, do you think they compare to the wearable breast pumps as far as milk yielded? Because I can't decide if I want to get the elvie curve or if I should invest in an actual wearable pump like the willow or elvie for occasional use when I can't use my spectra.

    • @NewLittleLife
      @NewLittleLife  2 роки тому +1

      The elvie curve and haakaa are NOT manual pumps. They are simply milk catchers that have a little extra suction. If you can’t make a pumping session with your spectra, you’ll need an actual pump like the ones in this video to remove the milk. A milk catcher (even with suction) will not remove milk effectively. Hope that helps!

    Hi Allison. Question for you about the Willow 3.0; I’m currently battling a low milk supply and am looking for a new wearable to pump to help me miss less pump sessions. You had mentioned needing a certain volume for the Willow to switch to expression mode. Is there also a time limit before it would switch? Or do you just get stuck in stimulation mode if you make under 0.5 oz/breast?
    I own the Elvie, but unfortunately my body doesn’t respond well to its gentle suction…

    • @NewLittleLife

      The Mommed pump works great for me as far as emptying me, but the motors are unreliable. I’ve had to buy it multiple times. I’ve given up on it because one of the motors almost gave out on a trip. I just ordered the WillowGo. I’m hoping the suction will be gentle enough. I tried out the MomCozy 12 Pro. That pump felt like it was ripping my nipples off even on the lowest setting.

      So far the Willow Go has been working great for me. It doesn’t have super strong suction which is great for me. I don’t need high suction to be emptied. The app is neat and convenient. With the 7 oz containers which I use because I’m an oversupplier, they are bulky and I’m big chested already. The parts are a bit confusing at first. Also, you can’t steam sterilize the parts which is kind of a pain. Another downside is that they don’t seal so you can spill.

      Hi Andrea. I have 3 kids 3 and under with my youngest being almost 5 months old. I also have elastic nipples. I have tried the original elvie and the willow 3.0. I respond much better with the elvie however it does not have the leakproof capability. I purchased the willow 3.0 with this baby bc the leakproof bags, but I just don’t respond to it well at all. • @NewLittleLife
      @NewLittleLife  2 роки тому

      Good question :) this is COMPLETELY my own opinion.
      Im not confident that a wearable pump (and especially the elvie stride due to how gentle the suction is) can empty quite as efficiently as a traditional flange. For some people it does well, but in a general video like this I hesitate to recommended it as a good option in a blanket general statement. For the students in my program who I know their situations, they needs, and their milk supply, I could more confidently recommend something like this if it was appropriate. Does that make sense?
      The elvie stride in particular though has a unique suction feel and the reviews on it have been mixed so far. So without taking directly to someone, I choose to create my opinion in the way I stated it in the video.
      If you want to hear me talk about about this topic, I do in my webinars! www.newlittlelife.com/breast-pump-webinars/
