That is crazy! I wonder if he had some kind of infection from inside? I have a deer that has a perfect three blade broadhead scar right behind his jaw. Never found the broadhead or any sign of trauma other that the scar in the cape.
When you’re hungry, the llamas are hungry. When you’re thirsty, the llamas are thirsty. When you’re tired, the llamas are tired. When the llama jumps because it spooks, Porter jumps because he’s spooked.
BRADY MILLER THE HIGH COUNTRY KILLER!! You are lethal with that browning!! I loved the push you showed to get to your vantage points. It always takes a lot of grit to keep climbing those ridgelines day after day. Wyoming definitely makes you work for those mountain mulies!! GO HARD OR GO HOME!! Good job guys!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. I definitely agree with you that he wouldn't make it through the winter. You probably noticed how skinny his body was and how difficult of a time he had eating. His entire face was rotted out from that growth and he literally had not teeth and bones on that side. I put a bunch of images from me cutting open the growth on my Instagram page if you want to check those out. Pretty interesting what that growth did to him. He was putting all the food into trying to survive, I wonder what his rack would have been if he wasn't just trying to survive the teeth he had were pretty worn down. - Brady Miller
Nice video. Good to still see someone sharing this content while the rest of the World is quarantined, enclosed at home and hoping to not being sick. Thanks.
This is one of my favorite hunting videos ever. Why? A great amount of the video was recorded while not hunting, but actually taking care of themselves and the Llamas which any tru back country hunter has experienced. Taking care of yourself in the backcountry is nearly a full time job…really a great video.
@gohunt this might be my favorite GoHunt produced video to date! Great backcountry adventure--weather, llamas, steep terrain. Way to hang in there Porter! As always thanks for putting out great content.
Great video, folks. It is difficult to capture the deep cold that sets in with wicked weather, and you all did an excellent job of capturing that. Thank you for the urging together top shelf content that focuses on the challenge and beauty of wilderness, more than just the shot or outcome. Great representation of our community.
I honetly spit my food out laughing at 2:25 with the llama stonewalling you guys. Llamas are hilarious creatures and actually make much better pack animals for the mountains than horses. There is a really good llama outfitter in Taos, New Mexico called Wild Earth Llama adventures. I am not sure if they do hunting but I know he does multi day trips. We did a day trip and lunch with them and had a great time.
I know that's not the biggest buck you could've gotten but I have a lot of respect for you taking that book that may not of made it through the whole winter
Its all about the experience. Great hunt and adventure. It says a lot about someone if they can stand the backcountry late season for 9 days, even with the luxury pack animals bring to camp! Can not wait to see future hunts with Porter packing meat!
Great video. Tough hunting. Great shot. I don't know how you guys deal with that cold and snow. If you want to come hunt AZ with llamas let me know. You will see more deer and the weather will be better! We also own llamas most of which came from Beau. He is and has the best.
Love it! My wife decorated our Christmas tree this year with chrome deer heads and little stuffed llamas that we brought back from Bolivia, which is where she is from. It was awesome driving in the mountains and seeing them and alpaca just roaming around like deer are here.
Congrats guys on toughing it out and making the most of the hunt and the tag. Pretty sure I was in that exact area the same week back in 2013, and we got dumped on. Lost 2 straight days to the snow, it can definitely test you that’s for sure. Keep up the good work guys 👍🏼

Porter is addicted! He will be back for another crazy hunt like this soon. Thanks for watching! We decided to take the 8-person Seek Outside tipi and the SXL stove on this hunt. It was a lifesaver! Can't be a hot tent on a cold hunt.
Commercials were out of control, Hunt was awesome and what you took away from it and from a guy who owns a couple custom rifles, it says A LOT about the accuracy of Browning to take a shot like that. Really has me considering an xbolt from my next smoke pole
Browning makes great guns! For a factory gun its tough to beat Browning's accuracy! Guys in the office are consistently shooting long distances (500-800 yards) with great success.
goHUNT yeah that’s impressive...and I know Aaron Davidson has made that comment in the second MOA video too about how they were great for someone on a budget. Regardless of budget it’s hard to argue with their performance

Hey Louis. Sorry we forgot the link in the post. We will go an add it. Beau is a phenomenal guy and his business it top notch. Here is the link to his website: wildernessridgetrailllamas.com
As for cold weather, both llamas and mules are more than capable. I don't know if one is better than the other. Llamas are probably a little less work to manage compared to a mule, which can make life easier for the hunter. But on the other side mules can carry more weight. So there are pros and cons to both.
Hey Jonathan. We used a Seek Outside 8 person tipi and an SXL stove. This hunt the big stove was a great thing to come back to each night! We stayed very warm. If you have any questions on specific Seek Outside hot tents, we are happy to help. All of us in the office use them on multiple hunts each fall.
@@jon49124 sorry didn't see this after you replied. The main reason is just the familiarity of the Seek Outside stoves. Brady has ran previous models of SO a bunch, and so it was just easier to use what they were comfortable with. The Luxe is a great option as well, but we haven't used on in the field personally.
I’m a bit perplexed by the series of events that took place up until Brady got his buck. So the beginning and middle of this video it appears to be late season. Snow is deep in most places. One of the guys actually says “it’s late in the season” one time. When Porter & Brady set out to hunt on the day that Brady killed his deer, there’s leaves on the aspens and appears early in the season. Snow is gone. Then Brady kills his buck and on the recovery the buck has short hair yet, definitely no later than early October in the high country. At the end of the video it’s back to deeper snow again. Am I crazy or did I miss something?
Hey Cody. Brady responding to you here, sorry I'm just seeing this now. The "it's late in the season" reference is correct as this was actually late in the hunting season. The season in Wyoming in this area is only open from mid-September until October 6, so we hunted the last week of the hunting season. I do that for many reasons. We started hunting September 30 (lost a day before that due to snow and weather and couldn't hike in) and I killed my buck on October 3 and we hiked out on October 5. So hunting at over 10,000 feet of elevation in the mountains in Wyoming, you have the chance to experience a ton of snow and still have trees with leaves on them because these are snowstorms that just happen out of the blue it seems at times in the mountains. The day I killed my buck wasn't warm by any means, but the buck was on a south-facing slope, and thus that type of feature gets more sunlight and warmth and the snow melted on this hillside even when it was cold out. You are correct that the buck had short hair still. Again, I killed him on October 3. Also if you notice the growth on his face. It definitely hurt him gaining any fat and putting on serious antler growth. So that is why he had a very skinny body and was very unhealthy. You can see some photos of the growth and his skinny neck with summer hair here: instagram.com/stories/highlights/17881540534435542/ Typical Wyoming bucks this time of year will have a lot of fat on them. Then after I killed, you noticed that we got again dumped on by a bunch of snow. Gotta love Wyoming! We experienced a ton of weather, but that is what makes the adventure that much sweeter. A side thing, I shot a buck in Colorado in late October that also had some damage to his body, and had summer hair still on him that late in the season. The mount of this other Colorado buck even still has some of the summer hair on the cape. I hope that all makes sense and thanks for checking out the video! @@Cody_Austin very welcome! I just wish for a hunt like this to be all snow on the ground. Great video as always Go Hunt! Way to get after it Brady as always and congrats on a heavy horned muley! Def makes up for CO this last year, huh?! Good on you to take that buck. I was reading thru the comments and agree he would not have made it thru the winter. Horrible to see that growth on his face. Glad you killed him! His body size and face didn't look 7.5 years old to me but maybe that growth had alot to do with that. Either congrats on all yer hard work. You deserve it!
Thank you, Ryan! For sure made up for Colorado. This hunt had everything I enjoy in a mule deer hunt. The harder the hunt the more memorable. I agree... even though I got the teeth lab aged, I'm not sure I agree with 7.5 either. Maybe the results are somehow skewed because all of his teeth did have extra wear on it due to everything being so rotten. Even the lower front teeth were coated with a clay looking type material. He will definitely go down as one of the most interesting bucks I've taken. I can't imagine the pain this must have caused. Brady Miller goHUNT Digital Content Manager

You can see some photos of the growth and his skinny neck with summer hair here: instagram.com/stories/highlights/17881540534435542/
Typical Wyoming bucks this time of year will have a lot of fat on them.
Always available if you have any other questions.

percentage of the state is farm/ranch land. And that’s land mass not the population
Very nice 👌

Nice video and great shot. Personally not a fan of taking shots like that when you could have easily cut the distance.
How was that meat? That buck looked super sick and unhealthy.
Hunting the greys river isn’t in grizzly country
Brady~ "Are you seriously going to shoot him?"
Porter~ "Me?"
Brady~ "No, the other guy sitting right in front of me with his rifle and cross hairs on that same exact buck".....🤦♂️
Haha actually during that situation there was a line of deer walking through and Porter was ready just in case a mature buck stepped out also.
I really support that. I believe that is an ethical kill, that animal was not in a good place. The insta story confirms it. Not there for glory, or bragging, just out on a hunt doing the right things.
That hike back looks real..... character building
The mountains are always a humbling place!
thats my kinda country
Pretty amazing mountains! Thanks for checking it out.
How about being a llama..
They are pretty cool!
Meh.. hes ok. I usually shoot mule deer like that close to the pickup here in Montana.

Good job but way to much work for such small buck
Does Randy Newberg know you stole Beau from him? 😂
shhhhhh don't tell uncle Randy.
He’s making quite a name for himself
👏👏👍💯
Literally could have shot a dink like that in any general unit in Wyoming in just a day hunt.
Tough year for sure. The growth and rotted out face definitely impacted the potential antler growth. This buck was lab aged at 7.5 years old by a company in Montana.
Porter annoyed me, I reckon there was a lot of whinging when the camera was off!
And guess what bud you gotta walk to find deer
