Animals don't understand love and it seems neither do you. Animals live solely by survival instinct. They don't possess the prefrontal cortex to process anything even akin to love. People just take their instinctive attempts to coexist (half of which has been bred into the most domesticated animals) as them trying to love you. I'm sick of the nonsense.

@@wilneal8015 You are correct about most but not all people in that regard..
My birds cage door is never closed..
My birds come into the grocery store,
I take them for a short walk to visit their friend Jen the five nights a week she works the local gas station and they hang out for 20 mins or so..
I take my birds, hiking, mountain biking, on the boat with me, they sleep in bed with me and sit in the shower on a suction cup perch. we share meals together.
One of my birds I have had for 21 years and I have had him since I was ten. We grew up together and are bonded in ways you cant imagine..
They come sit with me in my favorite restaurant at least two nights a week and are well trained enough that I can point to a specific person in a crowded bar and they will both zip over to that one person and that person only and they are recall trained as well.. If I ask them to stay there they will be right where I left them when I run outside for a smoke..
Not everybody sticks birds in a cage and treats them like paintings that need food and water..
Sadly you are right there are many that treat the cages of these intelligent creatures like fish tanks only to drop them off at the avian sanctuary I volunteer at when they become unmanageable..
I grew up with a father who had cockatoos and I have never had a day of my life without one.. To some of us they are welcomed in and treated as family..
But I do understand why you are so callous.. Creatures that have a 50-70 mile territorial range are not meant to live out their lives in cages.. They need a flock and external stimulus.. They need to have a life.
My travel cage lives buckled into the front seat of my truck year-round and I take them with me everywhere except work, they even come on weekend trips and vacations.
I doubt I have swayed your sour opinion of bird owners but there are plenty of people who think of and treat their birds more as sentient and intelligent friends rather than animals.

@@2003AudiS3 I work on trust and positive reinforcement, cockatoo’s are extremely smart and long living large flock birds that require lots of social interaction and form tight bonds with those around them. Even then they are known to bond strongly to one person and they are smart enough to grieve.
I could never tell you if harry does in fact know my dad has passed, and he will more then likely never form a bond like the one he had between himself and my father with anyone else for the rest of his very long life (upwards of 60 years).
He’s getting better happily, still mouthy and hell of lot spicy (if you know what I mean) with people he doesn’t know, but he’s getting better and its a long process that takes time, trust and patience. But that trust has to go both ways so he has to trust me that I won’t hurt him and I have to trust he won’t bite me. And we aren’t at that stage yet but hopefully within the next couple months we can work and change that! 🤗

We lived in the outback of Australia for two years in a place called Woomera. We enjoyed the cockatoo's very much! The flora and fauna of Australia is simply amazing, there was a tiny area where they kept bird's and took care of them, along with some kangaroos! Best 2 years of our lives, our kids although young enjoyed it as well.
