The fact that the parents tried to find someone the same ethnicity as their child was so cute bc i feel like they didn’t want her to be uncomfortable living in a different place like how the boy decided to be racist against them.
When I was kids I couldn't help how very different I was from others no matter how nice the teacher and other kids were. I still remember the feeling to this day.

@bessie9755 Jesus fucking christ, I mean that wholeheartedly, why do you have to bring religion into this? In China the most popular religion is actually Buddhism. After that Taoism and Confucianism. None of those worship any one god. You'd just make things worse, and so would Jesus. Stop trying to anglicize other cultures. That shit stopped being accepted a LOOOOONG ass time ago.
The fact that the adopted parents asked for their ethnicity instead of giving their daughter to any Asian child means that they really care about their daughter’s health and happiness and i love that
as an adopted kid who is also chinese this would’ve also meant a lot for me since i grew up in a small town off the highway that didn’t have many other asian kids. i’ve only met few kids with stories like mine :(
"Why our daughter?" Is such a fair question after being asked about your ethnicity. Like a token Chinese friend is what you'd assume, I'm so happy it turned out to be wholesome
I was confused until I saw they wanted their daughter to have a friend that looked like her. That is extreme love man. They taught self love, and gave her a friend at the same time
@sindyj3451 But you're implying it'd be wrong for a white child wanting to play with a Chinese child? You do know children don't see race, right, they're taught it? What's with segregation in 2023 rolled up as being 'progressive'?
I don’t think it was just about similar appearance. They specially asked if they were Chinese. Having a similar looking friend can provide confidence. I think they also want her to have the opportunity to explore her cultural heritage, something that they as people of European descent likely don’t know much about.
Yes. East and Southeast Asian alike are boxed into stereotypes such as being “submissive, quiet, passive, obedient, feminine” and it feels objectifying. And then you get shamed if you are outside that box
"Fuck you." Said Xie Lian softly. Bai Wuxian froze,"what did you say?" Xie Lian slowly turned around,"did you not hear me? I'll say it again." Xie Lian flew out an unexpectedly quick kick which bai wuxian couldn't guard against and went flying back. "I SAID FUCK YOU! HOW DARE YOU TREAT ME LIKE THAT!? I AM THE IMMINENT CROWN PRINCE OF XIANLE!" Xie Lian said with a roar, tears streaming down his face. Just one person. Just one person was enough! There's a friendship for everyone and a way to help their daughter feel like she does have a place/community of people like her.
